[Plot] LSDF Akahar

Arieg

DEFCON Everybody Dies
Premise:

Two months ago a Haverster Class Salvage Vessel, the LCS Mok'Ro went missing while operating somewhere beyond the Tange System. And until a few days ago was thought lost to the dark, a garbled video message however changed this.

Roughly two days ago a brief and garbled video transmission was received by a deep space relay, in it was the captain of the vessel. A female Lmanel by the name of Mara 'Longwalk' Korro Lmanel, it was a plea for help with a general 3d location of herself shortly before she was pulled off screen and the feed being cut.

The far off location of the coordinates and the low probability of survival led to the conclusion that the mission was not prioritized for rescue operations. Rather it was to be a 'clean sweep', a military deployment aimed to terminate whatever had taken the vessel.

The LSDF Akahar, a Raptor class Expeditionary Ship and it's military detachment of Lorath marines have been given the task. Their orders simple, find the vessel's location, determine the fate of her crew, and eliminate any of those responsible.

Targeted playerbase:

Overall this plot is targeted toward those who prefer a military orientation with a hefty dose of horror. Both are something that I find enjoyable to write so both will be hefty in this plot. I hope this to have a bit of a serious tone due to the fact it is primarily a military operation and a 'special' operation at that. For those who enjoyed Aliens this will be right up your alley.

The plotship and the characters:

As said above the ship that will see use will be a Lorath Raptor Expeditionary Ship, although it will be operating on a skeleton crew rather then a full one (much like the Sulaco). The characters on board, both player and non-player will be more or less entirely military with a few representatives from the shipping company that owned the vessel. So overall I'm looking for characters with infantry orientation, maybe a medic or two. I think I'll hash the solid list out when I see the interest for this page.

Pace and Posting:

This will be a bit of a slow boat, with my own time restrictions and my overall in experience I'm only looking for around a post every two to four days out of you guys with the possibility of the occasional one on one JP. However I will do my up most to ensure that each time you need a GM post that it will arrive within at least a day or so.

Almost every plot you've joined so far, you've quit in the middle of a mission. How can we expect you to have the commitment and dedication required to fulfill the role of a game master, where you're in a leadership position and other members are depending on you?

Lorplot! So does that mean I should get my character's submission thread up now, or wait until the plot has been fuilly approved.

If he drops it, someone could step in.

That's not the point.

GM's have to be responsible and reliable. Wes is asking how he can be trusted in a GM position when he's abandoned plots in the past.

I'm in agreement with Kyle and Wes. Arieg, as a player, hasn't done much role play. What characters he has made have almost all been of the same cut. Nepleslian, male, mercenary or ex-mercenary. Arieg Hessel, Elliot Haden, Max Geiger. I find myself unable to imagine that this plot will get very far, ESPECIALLY if it doesn't have the FM's approval. Reading this in conjunction with the Open Letter, I cannot help but wonder whether this exacerbates the problem rather than solves it.

Luca or ShotJon as a GM, I can get behind. But Arieg has not shown, to my mind, the proper qualities of a GM.

Now, what I said doesn't mean I'm against Arieg being a GM. My words merely point out that I have my own concerns.

We need Doc to look at this and give his opinion.

If this becomes a plot, we should accept little risk: a co-GM is a must, and having only veteran players with multiple projects would be best.

There is a simple reason why I wanted Arieg to be a GM for a Lorath plot; he has displayed more interest in the Lorath Matriarchy than anyone else has in the last few years save for Osaka. He has made an effort to communicate, and he has channeled his considerable sum of writing energy into the prospect of GMing a plot. I liked his tenacity, and his willingness to give it a try, that, and him being the only canadate for a GM I've had since F$^% Scribbles, it's kind of a big thing.

However, the opinion of my peers, combined with the recent questioning of my position and motivation as a FM, makes me doubt his viability for the position of GM. This feeling is only enhanced by a rather vivid memory I have in regard to every single GM I've had screwing me over, and my ignoring the signs out of hope that it is mere gripes. I'm not ready to get screwed again.

I want some time to re-evaluate this matter in light of recent developments.

Short Version: I value everyone's opinion, and I'm freaking pissed off right now.

I will be the Backup GM.

That is all.

In light of this, and my knowing how much of a cool guy Luca is, I can...

Officially Endorse This Plot Concept.

Only so long as Luca is directly involved however, for the sake of ensuring myself, and the community, that if anything were to happen in regard to Arieg's interests, there will be someone to keep things alive.

Alright then, who is interested in signing up to write in this plot (besides the GMs)?

[Plot] LSDF Akahar - GM Application

LSDF Akahar

Plot Concept

The LDSF Akahar is a Raptor class Expeditionary ship which has been given a skeleton crew and the task of determining the fate of the Harvester class salvage ship LCS Mok'Ro. Overall this will be a straight forward combat plot with decent elements of horror and other shenanigans, after all Luca, king of the site's insanity, is helping me at the helm of this plot. While I do hope to strive for a slightly serious tone I'm perfectly open to certain aspects of... mentalness (see Luca's character for details). However be forewarned this plot is being inspired by Aliens.

Plot Format

The LSDF Akahar is geared toward a single post method with JPs being optional if we can all ever be on at the same time. Overall this plot will require a post at least every week with GM posts appearing as needed.

Recruiting Plan

So far I have four confirmed, myself, Luca as co-GM, Moogle, and Shotjon. In addition Ssharp has posted a tentative interest. Overall I tend to advertise here and on the site IRC. But due to the nature of the plot and the faction I'm primarily looking for experienced hands. Although those new to the site are very welcome.

Previous Experience

Overall I've had.. one pervious attempt at GMing in the form of a one shot JP for Lam's 'Taking it Back' plot located here. Otherwise I've been present in several plots across two of the site's major factions, a brief stint in Luca's Phoenix plot, and a brief role as a squad leader in the Lorath protection of Asura located here.

Free Time

Sadly this is a location where I suffer due to two jobs, luckily with summer almost gone one of them is winding down to less then ten hours a week so I have practically the entire first half of the morning open for those days. Most of the time however I have time while on the first job in the morning via my phone on the IRC and I'm almost always on after 1AM EST on my main PC for a short spell.

During days I don't work my morning job I'm basically available all the way up to 3:40PM EST, although if you want to talk you may want to PM me so I don't choose to sleep in.

Other items of interest

My largest contribution to the site hasn't been roleplay however, most of my work centers around wikipages. By they weapons, vehicles, fighters, or entire starships. I've been driven to be able to do my own art without having to go through the process of requiring a commission, as a result I've gotten pretty good at the above and I'm beginning to learn how to do people (as a result those in my plot can have face shots and customized gear if they want it lol).
