Following the events of Mission 12, Walter Hyde made it his personal mission to fix that dent in the wall he made. It was unneccessary of him to do that, yet he cracked in the heat of the moment and had to let out his stress by the only means he had been taught. Basically, punching something until it bent over. Of course, now he's here fixing the dented wall using his assorted gear from the Blacksmith's toolkit.

Yet, fixing broken things is really pleasant to him. Walter felt very useful, as he kneeled down to assess the dent and get the wall realigned.

With her latest snack in hand Shasse Emiko was wandering the halls of the Kaiyo heading towards the pa bay to make some adjustents to her mindy loadout, noticing the subtle sounds coming from within as she entered the little neko's ears perked up as she became quite intrigued.

Noticing Walter over by the dented wall her upper lip formed into an almost sneer which was quite rare for her, it quickly dissapeared however as she told herself it wasn't his fault he got angry at her. Stealthily approaching him she poked her head over his shoulder while floating in the air, "Watcha dooooooing?"

Walter stopped for a moment, and glanced up to Shasse with a relatively neutral expression with a hint of surprise. "I'm just fixing what I ruined. I'd hate to see it go unfixed." He turned back to the damage, and resumed using a handrill to pop the dented wall out of the frame. Walter stood up, and moved the dented plate out of the wall. He looked a little bigger than the usual Minkan; both in muscle mass and height. "I was just really stressed."

"I assume you mean when you punched the wall and blew me off without warning? You should really get some anger management classes." Shasse floated around slowly and upside down while looking at Walter eventually coming around to his front and staring him in the eyes. The crimson red in them shining in the light. "So why did you get so mad about me asking questions anyway, you don't seem like yourself at all."

He stopped before he could grab a mallet. "Yare yare daze..." Then he took it and began hammering the wall panel out. "Are you telling me that this all somehow adds up? Me being at Fort Miller before any of you, being reduced to a Santo Hei, 'unusual' behavior deviency, and you still think I'm somehow still your Walter Hyde?"

Walter Hyde hammered the panel harder, forcing the mallet to bend bit by bit with each strike. "This is going to sound really bizarre, but I'm basically from a whole other dimension, one that just sucked to live in for me. You know the IYS Kaiyo, right?"

It was true that she thought there was something suspicious about Walter, "No... I had thought it may not be the same Walter after all, he would never have spoken to me how you did. We were good friends." She spoke softly as her feet touched back down on the ground, "But why didn't you just come out and say something about it to the crew? Why would you try to replace a man who you are nothing like, nothing." Shasse said, her voice rising slightly as her fists clenched.

Walter stopped hammering, and remained still. "To be real fucking honest with you, I didn't even know you had a Walter until it was way too late to change anything. By the eleventh mission, I was more worried you people will find out where I came from since SAINT obscured my profile to kingdom come, and by the twelfth was when I realized that you people actually had one." His voice was showing signs of growing hostility; he was being just as offended as Shasse was.

"And now look where we are!" The technician slammed his mallet on the plate, and gestured around him. "Yamataian space! I done fucked it up again, great job Walter, yare yare daze, yare yare daze! Now I can just live with being a anxious mess AND know full well I'm just some twisted reflection of someone better than me!" Walter stooded up, and looked right at Shasse in her red eyes with his intense, orange, wrath-filled eyes. "Oh you think I'm having fun being put in his shoes and forced to be like him? Don't come at me being saying I'm being disrespectful to everyone here by 'assuming his role', when no one here would give a damn about how I felt anyway! Why should I put in any effort if I know I won't ever get the same treatment if I just ran around shouting, like a idiot, "I'm Evil Walter, look at me go, guys!" Yeah, look at me go..."

Walter's explosive temper left as quickly as it came, and it left him feeling hollow and lighter.

Shasse listened to Walter's little rant until he was done with her features assuming an almost sarcastic look that said, "You serious right now?" before she made a subtle yawing motion with her hand when he finished. "Well that's a lovely story and all but there was a pretty simple solution, could have just said you were from another dimension. Hoshi and Eden would have already known about it and keeping that sort of thing a secret is bad for your health."

The little neko looked at Walter with a slight sadness, she knew it wasn't the man she had once shared some old memories with but they looked so alike it was hard not to think about. Shasse sighed, "I know it's not your fault you look like him and joined the same ship, but, I had thought it may have been him when I heard that Walter was back." Slumping to the floor and sitting on her knees she looked downwards trying not to let her emotions get the best of her.

The big Minkan, meanwhile, felt a little miffed that she shot down that whole sob story while here she is showing hers off like it has any greater significance. "How long have you been friends with him? You know, the original Walter? He wasn't even on this ship for very long."

"Well he showed me around when I first got assigned here and we had some good chats, people will tell you that I can get a little over attached when making friends which they'd be right about. I can go over the top on things ahah." She replied

Walter rolled his eyes. "Yare yare daze, and how's that any better than me?" He sits down next to Shasse, smiling just a little bit.

"I'll admit I've been hiding it because SAINT basically told me to not mention it, due to the IYS Kaiyo being involved and all that. I thought their bad reputation for ripping the YSS Kaiyo apart and causing everyone grief would spread to me somehow, and make me feel like I was back home... And I stayed on Ayenee just because it had nothing in common with it; I loved it for that."

"Well for one he was a lot better mannered than you when we first met." Shasse smirked coyly up at him her expression smug, "And he was actually good at fixing things too." She spoke looking down at the panel which now had several mallet sized dents in it from his anger outburst earlier and tried not to giggle at him.

He pulled his legs in a little closer in response, looking embarrassed and kinda insecure about the mess he made. "Well, you know what... I blame that on my mother's side!" It was kind of a lame excuse, but his mother did have a nasty temper. "Bad kids come from bad parents, you know."

"Huh funny you should say that, I once heard Miko call me a bad girl but I don't even have parents, do you have any idea why he would have done that if what you said is true?" She looked up at him with an inquisitive look completely believing what he'd told her thanks to her lack of childhood.

Walter blinked, and said slowly, "I have no idea who Miko is, but I am going to make the assumption that he's a bucket of lewd. In that context, he's just making a sexualizing comment about you in order to make you infatuated with him."

Shasse blinked back at him, "A bucket of lewd? Never heard of that before is it bad?" The little naive neko inquired further scooting over to sit beside Walter and giving him a poke in the side. "Why does everyone have to use all these complicated words."

"Nononono, it's a metaphor for pervert, it's just another way of saying it!" The young Hyde flinched when she poked solid muscled. "Granted, it's... It's just me who came up with that on the spot. I should have just said pervert."

"I still don't quite follow, you'll have to bare with me I didn't listen much in social training and I've never really been off the ship before to experience society for myself so. I'm kinda dumb." Shasse poked out her tongue and made a silly face at him.

As much as Walter wanted to be mad at her insolence and naivety, he actually snickered and shook his head she made that face. Did Shasse remind her of home with her dry humor and nonchalance? Yeah, but nobody from home made such stupid faces, either. It made Walter feel happier. "O-okay, I'll walk you through that. Now, someone who's perverted basically has a high interest in some characteristic you have. Some people are attracted to large breasts, some love muscles, some love how..."

The technician was about to say 'naughty', but he caught himself before he could say it. She'll get confused by it, definitely. ".... Love how others can behave while having sexual intercourse, and other physical and metaphysical things like that. Granted, everyone has a preference, but a pervert would just put that preference high on their list."

"So in this case, this 'Miko' guy called you a 'bad girl' because of how he thinks how you behave is arousing his sexual desires." Now that Walter thought about it, 'Miko' could be a joker, too... Darn jokers.

Shasse listened intently all the while staring into his eyes unblinking with her own crimson reds with an O shaped mouth as he explained, by the end of it she was practically in Awe. "Wow, after all that you really do sound like the old Walter when you explain things, I mean I wasn't even paying attention really it seemed kinda boring and I'm hungry but you really do sound like him its so weird."

Walter shrugged. "I guess Ayenee mellowed me out. Can't say I really believed that I'm exclusively evil, considering just a change of scenery was enough to get over some behavioral issues."

At least she said something about him that's positive.

"Wait evil? I just meant you were different, sure you may have been a bit of a dick when we met but there was a lot of factors involved in that encounter which led to the strange circumstance in which I was expecting you to be someone else and you were quite anxious." Shasse replied cooly, quite out of character for her. "But thats just silly talk I don't even know what I'm talking about I just thought it's something Miles would say." She giggled making another face.

"Yeah... Who's Miles? That medic who had his leg chopped off?"

"Yeeaap, that's the very same one. He is always too hard on himself though and tries to match Sacre which... She's basically a god in medic standards but he still thinks he isn't good enough." Shasse's tail had begun to swish around aimlessly and as a result flicked past her face several times.

"Sacre, huh? She's pretty good; I don't know if she knew what she was doing, but Sacre was a decent leader on top of being a good medic." Walter mused.

"I'd say she's at least better than Alastair," the Minkan said with a bit of edge. He didn't forget that careless Belmont flying through his grenade fire like that so carelessly.

"Well that's Alastair for you, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting with the third Belmont but I'm well aqainted with the other two. Oh you probably don't know but Miles, Miko and Alastair are all brothers." Shasse spoke

"No kidding, huh?"

The little neko hummed and floated up and over Walter, her impossibly long ice white hair spilling down over him as she went. "Oops my bad, was just going to head up to the observation deck for a bit, wanna come?"

Walter raises an eyebrow, and pushes the hair aside, briefly feeling how silky it felt. "Well, only for a little bit. I still need to fix what I busted."

"I know, that's why I asked you to come with me." She said softly before scampering away up to the observation deck and curling up on one of the plush seats watching the windows as she waited.

Now he's kind of confused; what did Shasse even mean by that? He followed the Neko to the deck, and hesitantly takes a seat. "So when's the part where you explain this?"

Shasse looked over to him with a slight sadness in her eyes, she'd come up here to visit old memories and some part of her had hoped this would be the old Walter playing a very dedicated practicle joke on them all. But it didn't appear to be. With a small sigh she moved over to him and layed down with her head on his lap, "I came up here with our Walter and, I guess some part of me wanted you to somehow be him... Sorry for dragging you up here like this but I needed to be here with him one last time since I never got to say goodbye."

Walter looked surprised, then his elvish ears dipped down as he felt the rotten emotions of guilt. She's right to feel this way; by being cowardly and pessimistic by how he thought other people would look at him if anyone found out, Walter had already betrayed their trust and shown just how shallow, pathetic, and cunning he was. How much he never cared. He wasn't ever going to hide this forever, he knew that since he talked with Eden and Arete that he can't stay out of the limelight and just exist. And chosing to leave the crew now... That'll make it worse on everyone.

He puts a smooth hand on Shasse's shoulder, and pats it gently as he looked down to her. "Yare yare daze, you miss him that much?" Walter sighed; might as well get it out there. "Look, I think it's kind of obvious that I can't be the Walter Hyde everyone knows and loves. And I know now what I have been doing is selfish and inconsiderate to people who clearly cared about my other half. I'm not a creative writer, I butt heads with people I don't like, and I'm not always a damn gentleman. Though I did hide it because the people here who have fought the IYS Kaiyo would probably never live it down. They'd look at me as if I can't be trusted."

"You don't know the story, so let me tell you what SAINT told me." The beefy technician sighed, and looked out the window, to the stars. "At an unspecified date, the YSS Kaiyo was pulled into a alternate universe. My original one, where Eve became a tyrant and made my Yamatai into a juggernaut that knew no end to its expansion. The Kaiyo crew were intercepted by their counterpart, the IYS Kaiyo. Now, the counterparts were meanspirited and ruthless, but they were also equipped with more advanced technology, so when they noticed the YSS Kaiyo, they opened fire with the intent to kill them. I don't know how long the fight was, or how they even got out of there, but YYS Kaiyo was severely damaged after the battle, and they had a significant amount of casualties on their crew, Eden being one of the few who died. Following that, Eden got demoted to XO, with Hoshi taking place as captain, and to this day some old blood on this ship still remember that day like it was yesterday."

"If they knew who I was one of the Imperials, then I know for certain that they'd be at my neck, and not just because of the chance I could be a spy." Walter Hyde paused, looking into the stars as he kept his hand on her shoulder. "Yet I will promise you this: I will stay on this ship, and I will tell everyone the truth, but only if I can do it my way."

"I miss all the crew who leave, it's always sad when one of the family leaves us and it was worse with how unexpected it was." Shasse whispered feeling his hand on her shoulder before listening to the rest of his explanation. "Well if you think you can do it I think it would put more than just me at rest over it, better not to have such big secrets between the crew. Speaking of which did you know I am basically a vampire now?" Shasse grinned up at him.

"Huh... No kidding."The Minkan looked down to her. "Guessing that little secret had to do with that incident last mission? Heard you were basically a rabid animal back there." The thought of Shasse coming in for a bite did not miss him the moment she said that.

"Yeah well, I saw Sacre about it after and we still don't know much about it but we guessed the intensity of my outburst was the large hunger combined with combat situation adrenaline but lukily Eden was there and she knew what was going on." Shasse blew some hair out of her face, "Actually maybe you can explain something else to me, why do guys get weird whenever I lie on them like this. We all slept in large groups in the training facility me and the other girls of the 999 so what's wrong with it?"

"Guys just get uncomftorable when a cute girl is on their lap, I guess." Walter shrugged. "It's something that girlfriends do with guys when they chill out. It's not the same as Nekos piling up in one spote and sleeping on top of each other."

"Huh, ok then. So am I your girlfriend then or am I the cute girl?" Shasse asked with geniune concern as she sat up straight and looked straight at him, waiting for the reply.

Walter shook his head, and smiled. "If I made you my girlfriend right now, then I'd have my mother's issues." He chuckled a little, and let his hand fall from her shoulder. "Right now, you're my cute friend."

Shasse's eyes sparkled and her face lit up, "So, we can be friends then?!" She exclaimed before embracing him in a hug with her head buried in his torso sending hair everywhere. "That's all I ever wanted." She spoke with hints of a deeper meaning but was currently too happy to elaborate.

Her hair even landed in Walter's face. He unceremoniously blows it away, and hugs her back, being rewarded for the kind gesture with this fuzzy, bubbly feeling in his chest. Whatever this mix of emotions was, it felt good. Real friends are good.

Although she had the bottle on her which Sacre had perscribed, the knowledge seemed to slip from the little nekos mind in that moment as she bit into his neck softly, the slight hunger and closeness to someone so warm too hard to resist.

The moment he felt it, Walter almost gave into the instinct to grab her around the waist and suplex Shasse into submission, but he fought that down. "Just don't suck me dry, I don't have that much more blood than everyone else," Walter joked.

"Mmf?" Came the startled reply as she realised what she had done, "AAAH I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for this!" She said getting flustered and standing suddenly. "I have to go now, it was really nice talking to you Walter I'll see you later." Shasse explained hurridly before dashing away.

Walter raised an eyebrow, and rubbed the bite mark on his neck as he felt the odd, tingling sensation of something not adding up. She was doing that without thinking? So was it supposed to be... Intimate? If so, then was it because he looked like the other Walter, or did they both share what Shasse loved in them?

He got up, looked to the stars stoically, and walked off to the PA Bay to finish the repair on the wall. Walter Hyde, whom tends to overthink everything, stores that thought away for another day. He's got enough déjà vu for the week.
