Potential Weapons?

Masers are of common use, but non of the other asers have been explored, especially xasers or grasers. Is their a reason for this?
Beam weapon technology branched off into phasing tech, scalar electromagnetics, and other high-technology avenues and EMR lasers were generally ignored because of the advances in shielding technology.

While on this topic, could NovaCorp use some form of legistative function to make sure that either only NovaCorp sold ships can have the weapons it develops (which would of course include the ships sold to the Stararmy, if the Stararmy wants them), or that they have to pay some form of royalties?
That's what the legislation forum is for. ^_^

Side note: The Star Army has a tendency to take rather than buy. That means military ships are probably not going to be a great source of income.

You say that beam technology has moved on from the EMR laser stage, yet WickedArms still sells pulsed Maser rifles, suggesting that they still have some use, if only for personel. If this is so, don't you think a graser might come as an improvement?

Also you said that no-one uses projectile weapons, but at least at one point WickedArms was selling GP - 1-3, which appear to be solid state ammunition, and the GP - 4 which is a grenade launcher. The GP-3 is still sold and their are also missile launchers (GP-9), Mortars (GP-8), Shotguns (GP- 6&7) and a light rocket launcher (GP -10). Intresting, maybe my idea is so outlandish after all.

Allright I'm being a bit harsh. Are these weapons mainly sold in Neplesia?

Also how would the Stararmy go around 'taking' things (if there was anything they wanted) from NovaCorp (or any other organistation). Would they use force, tax them into oblivion untill the yielded, or throw them out of Yamatai territory?

Force, Legislation (your corperation is part of the yamatai goverment) or they can take it through emminent domain or whatever equivalent SA has for it.

Phyrexus, Wolf still carries around his old ballistic weapons (SOCOM and AKS-74u) but you should really be carrying around an energy weapon too, especially if you're a mercenary/assassin. There are some things you just won't be able to get done without energy weapons.

ED is what the goverment uses to forceably purcase land that is to be used for projects like railroads, highways, military bases. You literaly are forced to accept the offer they make. If you want more infomation google it, it was used in things like the interstate highway system and the Manhatten project (IE the turning of the los alamos boys school into the los alamos labs).

Maybe. I was mainly talking about the big weaponry used on starships.

Also you said that no-one uses projectile weapons
Who said that and when? We've all pointed out that projectile weapons are still in use, especially on Nepleslia and on most Star Army ships (I'm referring to special weapons, though, like grenade launchers. The rifles and pistols used by Star Army troops are energy weapons).

Where I got the idea about no-one using projectiles anymore was partially Wess saying that no-one had introduced a weapon like the gyroc because of the availability of energy weapons and

Jadg Wolf said:
Yes, everyone uses energy weapons. I don't know about the others, but before Wolf joined Star Army he used projectile weapons. There were a few times I put names and stuff but Wes didn't want them because he wanted it to be original. Conventional weapons don't have enough power for dealing with Star Army soldiers or with their enemies.

These somehow gave me the conclussion (wrongly) that it had been stated that no-one used projectile weapons. Sorry about that, I seem to keep jumping into things, it's getting embarising

Well, anyway, people still use some solid-ammo weapons. ^_^

Also, developing xaser tech and such is fine.

OK then, you can expect to find some Gyroc weapons on the NovaCorp sub-site any day now, I'll probably post it here too. NovaCorp will most likely send a shipment to Neplesia and see if theirs a market there.

By the way, how do we work out if there is one or not? Does Rob or I just decide there is and take it into acounts when doing the acounts, do we ask Wess, or does it have to be RP'd?

Also if any players are intrested, please read the post I'll be er posting.

It's only fair that the SA expects something in return for letting NovaCorp set up shop in an Imperial system and use its resources without paying rent or anything... (We took it from someone else, but that's just an annoying detail. :) ) And don't forget about taxes. Imperial citizens don't get taxed but corporations do.

You'll have to ask Wes about the details. I think shipyards that provide warships for the Empire should be able to deduct it from their taxes and stuff... Just make sure you don't turn this into a number-crunching RP, please. ^_^;;

We do get quite a lot of resources from the Fenyar cloud, which (I think) rob bought sole mineing rights for. And in his acounts Rob has paid a lot for resources.

And worry about me turning this into a number crunching RP. I am unimaginably bad at numbers, they confuse and hurt me

Right, I think Rob did arrange for the rights to mine the Fenyar cloud. My bad.

NovaCorp still needs to pay taxes though. *puts on a tie-dyed tee-shirt* Because, like, you can't own the land, man. The land belongs to the people, man.

^_^

Which people? The Fenyaro? Actualy thats a point, are they entitiled any rights over the Fenyar cloud, even though it's where NovaCorp hangs around and mines it's Kyrium (about that by the way, where changing Kyrium. There were a lot of objections about yet another superstrong material so we changed it. Happy now?!?! Anyway We'll be posting it soon.)

Now that I think about it, all land belongs to the Empress.

May all hail her name.

(Can anyone guess where that quote's from?)

Ah right. We have something like that in Britain. All land technichly belongs to the Queen ... technically.

However our monarchy no longer has any power (no really none). Don't let your empress go this way. And if she has a son called Harry, keep him on the straight and narrow, first scent of pot through him out on his own. And if he thinks wearing a Swatztika's funny it's not.

Uhhh the last bit might only make sense to somoone in Britain or who plays unusualy close attention to British media. Ask me about it and I'll tell you all.

We read about it across the pond too. The majority of American media attention is on Mr. Jackson right now, though. :|

We're gett waaay off topic, aren't we? ^_^;;

Uhuh back to weapons

You know I think this is now the longest post in the whole of Military, Corporate, and Technology Discussion. Yay.

So anyone have any opinions on Gamma Ray lasers?

They're supposedly exawatt-level, I hear.

Whats Exawatt-level?

Also I've decided to start of selling Xasers rather than Grasers, I'll market those later (a Xasers should just be a less powerfull model)
