Power Armour, Mecha etc.

You might want to say compund instead of element but other than that its good.

I just wanted to make sure we didn't end up with another material that is just made up with no good scientific basis like Zesuaium.

three mining ships have been lost and *only two* accounted for as destroyed in asteroid collisions...

OOC: can NovaCorp buy exclusive mining rights for the Fenyar Cloud?

hmm... how much would an average corporation start out with? KS that is...

and how much would the Fenyar cloud mining permit cost?

updated Kyrium definition

Kyrium - Very light, durable metal named after it's discoverer, Kyrioki Eriko, a freelance Geshrin scientist currently in NovaCorp employ. The metal is found only in the Fenyar Cloud where the NovaCorp facility is located. Kyrium is belived to be formed from elements originally from the core of Fenyar that were fused together to create this compound metal when the planet was destroyed. It is found in free floating spherical shapes around three meters in diameter near the center of the cloud. NovaCorp has not released information about it's molecular composition or structure. Much like Zesuaium, it conducts very few forms form of electromagnetic radiation, including heat, although it does conduct electricity. It's strength rivals that of Xintium.

What elements were 'fused' together to create this material? If you know anything about chemistry, you know that only light elements like hydrogen and helium can be fused with any kind of success. If these are heavy elements, fusing them would be neigh impossible (even with the energy from a planet going up in smoke). Not to mention that fusion creates another element, not a compound. If they are light elements, how in the hell can they possibly come together to create a material that 'rivals that of Xintium'? If these are heavy elements, then how in the hell is it a 'very light' material? You can't fuse three heavy elements and get a 'very light' material. You get something at least three times as heavy and dense. Not to mention that very heavy elements tend to be very radioactive and have ridiculously short half-lives.

Plus, how can it conduct electricity but not conduct heat? Heat is a natural byproduct of motion, and electricity is a linear flow of electrons. Heat , therefore, is a byproduct of electricity.

Bottom line? You can't suspend your disbelief with this material because it just goes in the face of so much science that becomes outright bad pseudoscience.

hah! unless you can prove that Zesuaium can exist then Kyrium can also exist... unless you want to write zesuaium off the list and use something else.

okay, i agree with not conducting heat while conducting electricity.

and did you not think to read the other posts? the ones before this? Kyrium was originally an element but Tasuki Uso decided that a compound was better (don't ask me why).

and by the way... did you not think that elements can be destroyed or maybe deformed by heat and energy so intense as what is released by a planet literally exploding? Kyrium's origins may have been in something even as dense as lead but electrons, neutrons and protons can be lost duruing explosions. They get turned to energy the same way energy can be changed into matter.

Zesuaium's properties are derived from its special relationship with space-time. But this isn't about Zesuaium. We don't want to add more of that sort of thing. (FYI, Zesuaium was invented years and years ago. We we all newbs at one time, remember? Before, it was called Impervium.)

well if you look at a periodic table the only elements left are the heavy readioactive ones.

it could be an isotope, but one like the substance your discribing dosen't exsist.

heh... impervium sounds like some metal out of a marvel comic (superhero kinda thing :p)

ya well... want me to rethink Kyrium? again? :O

I don't mind the Kyrium as long as it's reasonably believable.

What I do mind is the insane numbers on your site in regards to production. Start small! Make some sort of factory base to build these things, and produce them over time. The Star Army started with two crappy little ships, four years ago.

It's cool if you come up with your own armoring material, but the problem is that it's too similar to other armor materials while still trying to be 'different', y'know?

Zesuaium is super-strong, doesn't bend or break, and doesn't conduct electricity and heat. Downside? It's hard to repair damage done to a unit with Zesuaium because of its nature.

Xintium is super-strong agaisnt all weapon and can regenerate its resilency over time. However, it's very cost-prohibitive to produce and likewise, very expensive.

Andrium is lightweight and reasonably strong, which is why it is used in a lot of fighters and small mecha. It is, however, rather weak against most heavy weapons of the time.

Xenotronium is super-dense and heavy, which makes it good for most starships but not for craft that need to be fast and mobile.

Zanarium is a 'stealth armor' that offers less protection but makes the unit harder to detect. (Xiulurium is a similiar variant that is more flexible, requires less energy, not as armor-beneficial)

You just can't slap a name on an armor and then make it like everything else. It has to have differentiating characteristics like all the armoring materials I've listed above. Each of these armors exist for a reason and there is no 'universal' armor solution because each material has its drawbacks and strengths.

What makes Kyrium different from all the others and why would anyone use it over the other materials?

I'd say you need to know what you're talking about before going along and making things. Not trying to restrict your creativity, but it seems like everything you've suggested is shot down.

Power gaming is bad. Were you the one with the really big inventory? You and your company should have just started. It's bad to start out ranked something like Captain and have a large corporation because of nothing (or a made-up history).

But I really don't know what's going on myself, so I'll shut up now.

My corporation is only related to my character because I use the same username to post NovaCorp developments and my character owns a novacorp weapon.

I'm the guy with the big inventory because i went through the GSA kit list and added everything instead of just extra weapons and equipment - i don't just have a case of "clothes" i have specific equipment.

I didn't start with a high rank, i got promoted... sergeant is not a high rank anyway o_O I'm a sergeant in my damn cadet squad with the SA-80's et al. and i update my character bio when i gain/lose items etc.

I wasn't saying you were ranked Captain, I was giving an example. I was also not saying your character and company were related. I was addressing them both. You were promoted by Wes, I guess because players need to be at least something higher, if only just because they're player characters.

Remind me to have a second look at this armor.

Alright but I'd like to point out two things:

1, This was before my time.
2, Kyrium doesn't exist.
3, Shouldn't this be in the Tech forum and possibly split in to two topics? Maybe three?
