... I think the fold is a bit unnecessary. If you're dealing with troops, you'd be dealing with bigger ships than a shuttle anyway. Why not just keep the fast CDD speed?

Because the standard is to have a fold drive if the shuttle is in that category of speed. The Jilanth has one, for instance. If a Mindy has a fold booster, it shouldn't be a problem for a 52-person shuttlecraft.

If I took out the fold system, it'd also cripple the shuttle's usefulness for system-to-system transport.
