See? I told you I'd post it! But first I had to register. And before that I had to find a nme for my character so naturally I was most of the way through the character creation process before I remembered I had questions to ask and th still hadn't registered! *deep breaths* Anyway, here I am, questions now.

How, exactly, does the roleplay on this board work? You mentioned something about using both posting and Yahoo! messenger but it looks like a lot of opening posts with no replies in them... o_O

Is there a section that explains what each job type thing actually does? It lists needed skills and the name and that's about it.

Um... I'm pretty sure I had more question but if you can answer those that would be great.

As far as I know the typical way RP has been working here is this.

The RPers for that particular session get together on YIM, then IM out the RP. One person cleans it up (typos etc) and posts it.

I'd prefer to have more RP on the boards, but as of right now, it seems most is done in the above way.

As far as your questions about the classes, I'd just suggest IMing wes, since he knows all. 😉

Ah. Blast. *wrinkles her nose* I prefer posting replies on the board. Mostly because no one's ever online at the same time I am. x.x Ah well. I shall deal!

Not in the current Character Creation Guide, which lists skills you get from having that job. The new guide (in progress decribes the jobs, however. If you need a description for any particular job, ask me and I'll describe it (and add that description to the new CCG if need be).

We usually get together on YIM (JPing) since it's much faster that way that individual posts. Individual posts (SPing) are perfectly fine, though. Say, for instance you character was in mid-JP and someone had to leave and so the JP was paused, you could SP your character's next action (such as going to another area, etc.) The frequency of JPs tends to create many large posts that are a whole thread rolled into one. For timeline purposes, the threads are locked when replying to them would no longer make sense, time-wise. Each thread is, however, generally a continuation of the last thread/post in a very large ongoing story.

Tim described the usual procress pretty well. Again, using the boards directly is allowed, too.

NOTE! If you're going to make a non-Star Army character (assassin, merc), please note that the support for missions and plots is limited and you'll find yourself free-styling it most of the time. It's not easy and doesn't give you much chance to interact with other characters. Just so you know.
 
I wouldn't see Yamatai paying for Mercenaries or Assassins. They have their own, they don't need others. With the situation of Joint-Op's and Temporary ambassadors, Yamatai isn't paying for them, and often times it's more of a diplomatic/rescue situation then :p But your average merc? Naw...
 
Yamatai doesn't typically hire mercenaries but it does put bounties on criminals they want bounty hunters to find.
 
I've been toying with the idea having Candon place a 100 KS bounty Hanako just so that I can say I put a bounty on my boss.

Considering Hanako got kidnapped before, I feel like it would be taken very seriously and bad things would happen. I also imagine there would be a new regulation added to the Star Army regulations!

Crimes:
  • Leave a commissioned starship unmanned, except when docked at a Star Fortress.
  • Mistreat a prisoner of war
  • Place bounty on your boss
