Hello, all! If you couldn't gather from my posting in the introduction forum, or my post count, I'm new to the site. I've had a sci-fi civilization I've wanted to play around with in RP for a while now, but haven't had the opportunity to do so, and went looking for a good place to scratch that itch. A bit of digging, and a lot of rejects, later here I am!

OOC info:
I've been role-playing on chat and forum for fifteen years or so, mostly fantasy.
I've done some tabletop RP but don't have any games going currently.
My specific RP background is: myrealms.net , a Hogwarts Rp site whose url I lost, and various Star Trek nova sims.
I'm a bit of a character-masochist, in that I have a tendency to do terrible things to my characters, or else to play under powered characters.
In the near future I'm going to post a dreadnaught load of character info on the wiki, hopefully including the pages of data I've wrought out for her civilization.

IC overview:
Olivia Rondel
She is a soldier in service of a theocratic government (ruled by the church).
Still sorting out details as to whether or not she's going to be "on loan" to another faction or if I'm NPCing a fireteam. Or perhaps make my life easier and figure out a way to make her a freelancer.

Hello! I'm interested to hear more about your theocratic concept. In the SARP, there's not a lot of religious institutions and having one for the sake of variety could be cool. I assume that your theocracy is composed mainly of humans?

Yes, well, mostly human. Too many generations on a hotter-than-Earth world has lead to them being more tolerant to the heat but more sensitive to cold, and rarely reaching over 5'6" in height. ((Science note: being smaller means they have lower body mass and so don't retain heat as well.)) I have a pantheon of gods drawn up, 9 primary gods and a fistful of related deities. But the society is matriarchal and most government and social services are handled by a part of The Temple. A single Grand Matriarch presides over the whole Temple, beneath her is the Matriarch of each of the 9 temples which serve as Bureaus or departments. Their faith grants no special powers beyond the mundane psycho-somatic benefits of being a zealot. Males are not excluded from any branch of the Temple Government, but they are capped on how high they can ascend unless they're members of (as many are) sects which permit males to achieve higher ranks. These sects, in turn, have restricted influence but at a higher level than that of men in the mainstream temple structure.

I have pages and pages of this stuff.

That sounds like a perfect setting for a cop story I'd been wanting to write. Sounds like your ready to hit the ground running.

If you're interested, I'm actually in the beginning stages of creating a group of independent, sovereign worlds on the edge of the existing map that aren't aligned with any major faction. Many of these worlds won't be aware of the greater SARPiverse, and will have varying relationships with one another. I'd be very interested to talk with you about incorporating your idea into this frontier area. ;)
