Sensors

I'm designing ships, and I have to make sure I at least have a passing knowledge of what sensors are being used, and to be completely honest, I don't understand what they are, or how they work. So if someone could please explain the following to me I would be in their debt (unless otherwise stated these are all in the Sakura):

Distortion sensor:

Interfermotry sensors:

Electromagnetic trans-space flux sensors:

Spin Polarometers:

Soliton sensors:

Moh sensors:

These are the ones that confused me the most. I could really do with help ...

Distortion sensor: Finds spatial distortions, such as CDD bubbles

Interferometry sensors: http://www.answers.com/interferometry

Electromagnetic trans-space flux sensors: Detect EM variances in various space planes.

Spin Polarometers:

Soliton sensors: http://www.answers.com/soliton

Moh sensors: If I'm not mistaken, Moh is a typo I need to fix. It should be mho I think. It's the reciprical of an ohm. See: http://www.answers.com/topic/siemens

Thank you Wes, that has been very usefull. However I do have a few more questions:

What is a Mho sensor actually meant to do?

What is a Soliton sensor? I realise that a Soliton is a self enforcing wave, but that doesn't really help me.

What does the 'Aetheric/quintessential/field/differential/particle/waves sensors' do?

And how does the Scalar field sensor work? Does it simply detect Scalar fields or what?

And I may be a complete idiot but despite your links on Spin Palarometres I still don't really understand what the sensors do ...

It's amazing how far sensors have come since 2006! Now we can see everything!

Honestly, sensors in SARP could use a quality/balance pass in general, to use MMORPG game dev terminology.
