Sawyer took a look at the new arrival, had the look of a poleaxed steer when he saw her bust, shook himself imperceptibly and looking at the others claiming bunks drawled, "well hayl, I don't need a damn bunk I'll just rack out on the floor. No diff'rent from when I was naught but a lil child.

Miranda smiled at hearing she would be getting her own room. It would be better than the family two room cabin in the mountians where she traveled about before the enlisting. Anything was better than the drafty, spider infest attic.

She looked at the lady walking in looking like one of those dancehall girls that the hill men snuck out with to the back rooms, but without the overly done make-up.

She relaxed in her seat, waiting patiently as the Boss spoke of killing another sentient being. She wondered what the hell was a Neko. Much less a Squidy. Must be the navy guys that flew the big warship between the stars and on the ocean. Pirates! Must be. Looking down at her stuff next to her on the floor. Only thing she shot at and killed was animals to put food on the table and their hides for clothing.

NMX were things of fiction that you saw in the Movie House in the mountian town where she was from.

Miranda just watched and listened for now. Playing it safe for now.

Colonel has sip of his coffee. From his expression it could be seen, that it must have tasted well and anyone who drinked his own would agree. It was quite a good coffee.

"Well Private Sawyer. We are no hotel, but you won't be sleepin on bloody floor. I can assure you of that." He said and had another sip. His large bearded head then looked at Rita. "You should put that on, there are toilets near, bot that brough your clothes will take you there."

With Colonels words, it was now easy to assume that both cook and mini-skirt clad ladies were probably androids or cyborgs. On second look, it would be clear that both did not breath and neither blinked.

Miranda snickered at the guys going goo goo over the andriod ladies. Probaly not making any friends at the moment. She felt restless suddenly and wanted to get on with the program or be released to head into town to explore her new surroundings.

Rita rose an eyebrow and stood up. She didn't even care if she was going to have to wear something like that, even though in the back of her mind she hoped the colonel had better taste. Really, it didn't matter, because her body wasn't real. It was made of metal and synthetic muscle and flesh.
"Yes sir," Rita said, as she headed for the restroom. She changed quickly and quietly. Was it a normal uniform, or the type worn by the androids out in the mess hall? Either way, she walked back out into the mess hall and sat down, crossing one leg over the other.

Chad's eye shifted sideways towards Blackfoot for a second and then he straightened. With the severe gender imbalance in Nepleslia most young men rarely saw the female form. SAVtech-JANE units were fair game to most men, you could even have kids with them if it got that far.

When Rita came back Chad quickly began trying to assess his new commanders sanity. Putting a personality like Rita into such attire did not seem to condone longevity.

Carefully he raised his hand to ask a question, before continuing weakly, "I, uh, I hate to ask, but what exactly was the selection criteria for this unit?"

Chad knew for a fact that most squad leaders eagerly shunted him off to the next section, and when they were done the platoon leader would give him the boot thinking him a trouble maker to the next assignment. Unless he was picked out by draw there was no way he'd have passed any SpecOps selection.

Sawyer shrugged and looked around "I'd guess it's because we are such a motley crew of people that higher thinks we can complement each other's skills and make this team more effective than some of the other ones. Personally I think it may be a good idea for us to be teamed up like this" he drawled. Looking around at the overall appearance he was struck by a thought "Sir, is there some way we could set this up to have an area for me to do some weapons modifications for our team to make them more effective and accurate?" he asked with a slight gleam in his eyes.

Rita would be soon back, wearing same attire as the Jane that brought the clothes in. Standart marine jacket, with mini-skirt. Colonel sipped more of his coffee and looked at Rita.

"Well Private Stenton, sorry about that. It is the only uniform we got in here and it is better then walking around in prison suit." He said to Rita with smile. "And it suits you too." He added and laughed.

"About your question Private Cuspel." He said and looked at chad. "First that is none of your damn bussiness and second I did not have all that much to chose from. I was lucky to get Private Morris and Stenton. But I think you three are talented for a greens and will do well. You would not be here if I though otherwise. Is that clear."

Sawyer was next in line of getting answers. Colonel took a breath and puffed his cigar, before he started speaking again. "And about your question mr. Sawyer. Ther will surely be armory set up here lat-"

"Sir," Kowalski interrupted him in his talking. "There is situation." She said with her ice-cold emotion-less voice.
"What is going on LT?" Colonel asked her back.
"I do not know enough information, but it seem Senate building was attacked ten minutes ago. We should move to briefing room, I will have everything sent there from sitation room." She said and stood up.
"Off your arses ladies and gentlemen," Colonel said and moved quite fast for a man of his size.

They had to move to one of the elevators, which was short walk from small mess-hall. Elevator was guarded by two mini-skirt clad marine-Janes with holstered pistols. They rode on level up and passing another two guards, they walked into briefing. It had large oval table withe ten comfy chairs around it.

"Let's have a look," Colonel said as he sat in one of the chairs. LT sat across the table from him and hooked her datajockey in one of the port situated in the table.
"Twelve minutes, fourteen seconds ago large explostion hapened in the senate builiding. Here is footage from TV shuttle filming on the place. All senators and premier Davis were present for disscussion about war with NMX." LT said and holographic image of the senate building showed up in middle of the table.

Image showed senate building. Suddenly image shook as giant firaball cause by large explosion showed up. Most of the building was now covered in flames and black smoke. Lt stopped the footage and showed another one, which showed large cargo vessel. Vessel was apaprently badly shot and crash landed in middle of the busy street squashing people under it.

"THis is vessel and many more tried to broke through our orbital defense." Kowalski continued. "Many were shot down, but some got through. Look at this," Picture was still showing the vessel safely parked in middle of the street. Smoke from crash was slowly clearing up as ships cargo bay opened. Suddenly swarm of small creatures starte flying out at high speed. There thousands, maybe even hundred thousands. Camera zoomed in showing they were NMX parasites. All the marines knew about them and what they do from their training.

Colonel put his left palm over his right fist, his elbose settled upon the table. He was frowning heavily at the screen, which changed again. It showed another ship, also damaged from weapons fire landing in one of the plazas. It appeared to be transport ship, about fifty meters long. It's bay opened to and armed females started running out. As soone as they leaved the ship, the opened fire and citizens watching the shows. Few policemen present returned fire, but they were outnumbered and killed in seconds.

"Hrrmmm" Colonel grunted in anger. He looked at people present at the table. "Well, do you know what I want you to do now?" He asked with rather calm voice.

"I would refrain from stating the obvious," Henry nodded as he pointed to the NMX soldiers in the video, frowning, "But it seems clear that the Premier and company are being hijacked by NMX."

"Rhetorical question:" Henry looked about the room, "Are we bad enough dudes to rescue the Premier?" He then nodded with confirmation since the answer was never in any doubt, "Seriously speaking though: do we have any identification on the vessels? It seems very brazen for card carrying NMX to simply land on Nepleslian soil. They could've been traders hit with parasites and bent to the NMX cause."

He then sighed, "Either way, the NMX and their intermediaries will regret this decision."

Miranda watched with eyes wide open as this was no movie, but a news feed recorded earlier. She swallowed nerviously, waiting for cavalery to arrive and beat the nasty holo-vid enemy back. But then the Big Man spoke up and then Henry spoke.

"Huh... Does that include the premier and council also to be..."she swallowed nerviously, "... huh...killed also?"

It should've been obvious from all the parasites of the NMX being shown. But of course she could be mistaken.

"I think that is our mission, secure the premier's person and eliminate the enemy presence there. I'll start prepping my personal weapons and any others for those of you here who want your weapons accurized before we head into that firefight" Sawyer said as he looked down at his rifle and adjusted the scope slightly.

Rita's eyebrow almost hit the top of her head when she saw the footage. NMX landing on Nepleslian soil and carrying out an assault on the Premier? This had "squid lord" written all over it, and that wasn't something Rita was happy with. She crossed her legs in a lady-like fashion since she was wearing a miniskirt, and then posed a rather important question to their new commanding officer while making a gun-shape with her hand and pointing off to the side.
"Forgive me if this sounds impertinent, but uh... Exactly how the fuck are we supposed to get past the tens of thousands of squids between us and Premier Davis? Are you going to pod drop us after an air-strike or something? Because if that's the plan, I'd like something a little shinier than a Hostile."

Colonel rubbed his chin, buried deep in thought. He sighed and looked at others. "Don't panic Private Blackfoot, we do not know if premier or senators are hurt. Senate is very sturdy building. What is the situation LT?" He then asked Kowalski.

"One moment," She answered and checked data on her datajockey. "It seems NSS Acadia which was on the high orbit around the planet was right above the Senate building when attacked struck. Their response time is amazing, there are already power armored troops heading to the senate as we speak."
"THat changes everything," Colonel said. "As much as I would like to send you lot down to help down those marines from Acadia you would be just in their way. I still do not have proper equipment here, this unit was not supposed to be operational for few more weeks. We have no armours and no weapons except for your personal sidearms. Oh and a shuttle. Chargin the senate would be suicide and we would probably be shot down by the marines, since we do not have codes to prove we are friendly. I have another idea."

He then pulled out his own datajockey, connected it ot table and fiddled with it. Soon picture changed and showed the ship that unleashed all those NMX-neko soldiers earlier.

"I will sent you down there, you find some equipment for yoursel. I don't care how. Steal it, buy it, take it from enemy's dead cold fingers." As he talked, the imagine changed and showed armed nekoes fighting with nepleslians. Cops, gangsters and even few marines were trying to stop nekoes. They were losing the fight, but they were not giving up. This was their planet and they were not ready to give it up to NMX scum. "When you think you are equipped enough, you will move to that ship and investigate. I want to know how NMX infiltrated it, catch yourself a neko, strip it computers for information I don't care. LT will fly you down there as close as she can. Any questions?"

Miranda listened with trepidition as her heart raced with fear and excitement combined. Looking over the information and watching the vids.

"Sounds good..." She whispered. then speaks louder, "we get to keep what we scrounge?"

Chad sniffed loudly in thought "Uh, boss, we going to get any support for any of this? Or is as far as anyone's concerned we're just..." he quickly counted over his other teammates with a finger "...six patriotic armed thugs with deathwishes?"

"Well, hopefully if this is what we have then we have to strive to be highly effective patriotic armed thugs with deathwishes and preferably not die" Sawyer drawled as he looked at the screen. "Ahm sure we could find some decent gear and possibly at least draw these beasts off for a while until we get some heavy fire support." He drawled as he hefted his designated marksman rifle.

"Chad brings up a valid point," Henry nodded in agreement with the other marine, "My rifle and expertise alone are useless. If we had access to powered armour, I'd be feeling a bit more confident about our survivability. I suppose we could make do in a pinch - this is Nepleslia."

He was making reference to the honest fact that behind every trashcan, in everyone's pocket, inside a plastic bag in the cistern of every toilet and under every bed and their pillow was a firearm. A fact that he liked to take advantage of, along with billions of other Nepleslians.

"I will try to get you any help I can, but we face invasion. I am afraid military is quite busy." Colonel said and looked again at the holo. "LT, what will the team face? Any powered armours."
"Visual data states that we will face mostly Nekovalkyrja infantry, people infested by parasites. And 5 NMX shocktroopers left the ship we will be investigating." LT replied as she checked data on her datajockey.
"Well, if you people meet Shocktrooper and do not happen to have any heavy artillery with you I suggest you go around it." Colonel said and sighed. "Okay you should better move on. Just take your guns and move to the shuttle."

With that the team got up. "Let's go," said LT and moved towards the elevator.
"Good luck, go kick some butts." Said Colonel and went away through the hallway accompanied by two Janes.

Ride down the elevator was a short one and team found themselves in the hangar boardin the shuttle just a short while after. LT went right for the cockpit.

"Strap in, it won't be easy ride." She commed to others. As soon as everyone sat and strapped in, the shuttle ramp closed. They could soon feel inertia as Shuttle engine started and it flew out of the hangar.
"Entering atmosphere," could be head shortly after. It was a rocky ride as they were falling down through the atmosphere. Ship was throwing itself and rocking cause by heavy turbulance. This went for few minutes as they got trough.

"Team, it seems enemy got in control of some heavier weaponry in the area." Colonel could be heard on the radio feed.
"Roger that sir," LT replied. "Hang on," she added.

It was pretty bad feeling for the team as they could not see anything from inside the ship. Suddenly ship rocked itself quite hard, followed by steep descend cause by shuttle pilot.
"We got hit, but shield managed to deal with it," she said as. Whizzlinh sound could be heard as the ship rocketed towards the land. It seemed like it went for ages before LT started pulling up. Everyone was pressured into their seats by G-force.

"Looks like we mad-" tried to say LT, but her sentenc was cut off in mid as the ship got hit again. SHuttle rocked itself very hard again and started descending again.
"Shit we got hit," LT shouted and for the first time there could be heard some emotion in her voice. "Emergency landing!" She added.

Everyone could but hope that LT will pull up in time, when the hit something. It tossed everyone in their seats and they could just wonder what happened when second hit came. Whole shuttle was shaking itself hard and screeching sound of metal scraping against other solid material could be heard. It went on for few second before shuttle finally came to halt. Red-light came on in the shuttle and words came from the cockpit but shuttle's ramp went down.

Light came into red-lit shuttle and team could see that they were on some sort of balcony, with railing visibile on the right and some sorts of shops on the left. It appeared they landed inside a mall.

Chad whooped with frenzied glee as the ship rocked through atmo, when they were hit Chad's seatbelt must have failed or something because he was thrown out of his seat. By the time ride had stopped Chad was hanging upside down from the roof by an ankle, swinging to and fro like a pendulum and giggling quietly.

"Ho, man. That was fun. Let's never do that again though, okay?" he coughed and spluttered a little from the dust they'd kicked up on their landing. "Alright, who's not dead? Sound off."

"Oh godness, not again-" Was all Henry was able to complain after hearing that the shuttle was hit in transit and had to make an 'emergency landing'. He had the good sense to buckle in and stay in his seat - but for reasons similar to Chad's, the seatbelt failed and he was sent astray.

When the ride had come to a stop, he his face in the lap of Ms. Stenton, who was sitting opposite him during the flight. Without saying a word, he pried himself off of the Amazonian warrior, dusted himself off and checking the overhead compartment for his weapons. He retrieved his weapons in a more-or-less whole state.
"Yes, lets not," Henry replied to Chad before looking out the open hatch and into the courtyard of the shopping mall and grinned a little - his cheeky side was being indulged by what he saw, "A little window shopping is in order."

Henry looked at Chad, all six foot two of him hanging from the ceiling, chuckling a little before putting his hands on his hips, "C'mon, get down, you're not a hanging rack of beef," He looked up and lamented that he could not reach the ceiling, since he was only five foot eight.
