So, what's it gonna cost me to buy a starship?

Under the Starships and Mecha section, there are several outdated ships, fighters and armors that could be released onto the civilian market, with the important techs removed.

So, what could a civilian buy? Perhaps, along this list ...

Phoenix's Heron-class freighter
NovaCorp's civilian Mucoyi-class shuttle (This one I was thinking was around 10,000 KS.)
The venerable Sojourner-class transport
The old Ki-F5-class light transport/frigate
NovaCorp's military shuttle, the Jilanth-class
A stripped-down version of the Hoplite-class variable starfighter
And an old Ronin Elite-class starfighter

Don't want to tax you with trying to figure out prices for these things. However, suggestions would rock.

A generic Ronin Elite wouldn't cost you much, a thousand ks maybe even free. The Qel'norans built a lot of these things and there are likely to still be plenty of them left at old ralfaris complete and adrift in space without having been used.

Also, remember that the Ronin series was not intended to be used in the atmosphere.

Could they be adapted to enter the atmosphere? And could they have hyperspace instruments attached?
 
Yes and Yes. A good place to start with the adaption would be to add wings or remove the armor plating entirely and reshape it so when it is replaced the craft has a lifting body. Atmosphereic manoverability wouldn't be to impressive unless control surfaces are added.
 
Can I have more data and back story on this place with adrift Ronins? I am working on a character that salvages adrift items and ships from battlefields, and this sounds like a prime opportunity for when he is completed. ^^

I'd also like to know the range of years that the Ronin was in active service.
 
Old Ralfaris is a nebula crated when Ralfaris was destroyed by Star Army forces. It is on the map, about 9 LY south of Yamatai. The Ronin was in service from YE 23 (Founding of Qel'noran shipyards) to YE 26 (destruction of Ralfaris).
 
So I know we list some decent ships for independents, but maybe we can include a list of ships/shuttles that fall at/within the starting currency amount? There's a good deal of them based on the last time I looked, but unless you know what companies to look at you might not find them when just joining the site (such as digging into Emrys or some of the Origin shuttles).
