Solving tech issues.

Okay long story short, lots of things have come up in relation to technology submissions lately. Right now people are working on how to fix the struggles with weapons, so I'm not going to touch that. While that is a big concern, I think the thing that's getting most overlooked and most mishandled is that right now we don't have anything to tell us how our ship stacks up in the setting. I don't think knowing will stop people from trying to be overpowered, but I think it'll just make things easier for those who want to make ships comparable to what is currently active.

So it's a simple proposal really, just make a reference sheet of industry standards 'vital statistics' for starships (we could do it for other things too but Starships seem to have the most clutter) This sheet would have examples of what is considered 'average' for most of the key systems used on a ship.

With that, someone designing a ship can simply click the page, and look at how their design stacks up to the average. It's not meant to be some kind of grading sheet or anything just a reference tool.

Along with that reference sheet, a second one could be made that outlines basic ship classifications and what areas they tend to be above or below the average at. This way someone could look and see if the ship they designed is more like one class or another. This again isn't for grading, just reference, and it might help sort out classifications in the future since we have ships called one thing that behaves more like something else.

So the reason I put this here instead of making the sheet myself submitting it is because I want to see what people think is important to a list like this, and also get good opinions on what is the average.

(Also yes this is similar to something else before anyone says, and I suggested this to said person but it wasn't heeded. But it's the second time I suggested something like this so I figure it's time to just put it out more formally.)

Well the ship classifications will be secondary, the main thing will be getting the Industry Standard Reference sheets. If we have a page like that it can be useful to not only the NTSE and designers, but I think in the long run we could use it to help develop any other things we might need in terms of guidelines, but we also might not need much else when it's easy to identify when something is above or below the average.

The first thing that came into my mind is one of those little charts like this:

It's a way to see things at a glance.

I wish we could make charts like that for everything XD but that would be very resource taxing. But yeah It'd be good for helping people gauge where their ship stands. Might even be worth putting the 'current record holder' for each thing too.
