Excellent! I'm so glad to hear that! I could actually change it so that you can be a CO while guarding one person to give players more access to progression but say that the overseer position requires this high bar of entry?

That way we have full Enlisted-NCO-CO progression for that corps but also make the position that requires being exceptional in your abilities have that bar of restriction? I'm totally cool with what we've laid out in the last few posts though if not ^^ I'll edit it in the morning. Will still think of alternatives to medals for good measure.

Go ahead and do it at your leisure, but I am excited to get this approved for ya.

I was just thinking about this, a position such as this would probably demand more loyalty to the SAoY than inherent ability. Perhaps that sold be what they capitalize on, finding people who are loyal to their own demise. They would probably attract many samurai.

Does it need to say now that an Overseer needs permission to be made by the MP manager? That isn't even a position, so why is it mentioned?

Like SAINT, I thought there would be one, which is Wes currently, though I can remove it. No idea how I'd quantify loyalty to the Star Army but I get what you're saying Rizzo. I always thought of the MP as the opposite as they're interested in then good of all rather than their clan but it might be interesting seeing a samurai in the blue lol. I'll remove the MP manager thing anyhow.

I think all you need to do is remove the word "and" where it says "MP manager and Wes".

Given that change is easy and you have agreed to it....

Approved

I'll boop 'em out of WIP. Great to have this in finally lol. Investigators been needing an expansion since the dawn of time almost xD

Sorry, Eth. The OOC Notes wiki article for some reason I thought got thrown out. Why is this still around? It includes IC events that are not backed up by RP.

Heyo, it's me again!

Just a small thing. I want to change the Close Protection Specialist occupation's name because C and P don't reeeeaally look good together.

Personal Protection Specialist or Executive Protection Agent are currently options I'm considering amongst others.

I'll let you know here what I choose, just checking in about it. I don't believe the name has been mentioned in detail anywhere other than one Comms post or two. It's a synonym so people will know what it is anyways.

Cheers! Would love your thoughts/suggestions.

Is that really necessary? I mean, as an IT guy I see tons of softwares that use CP as their shorthand for Control Panel. When I was in the military I'd think "checkpoint" when I see that (e.g. EP for extraction point) but I was in Army Aviation. I looked up Close Protection to check and it does seem to be the industry-standard term for bodyguard training. Is there any situation on Star Army where the context would be unclear? Who are you thinking would get confused by this abbreviation and why is this coming up almost a year after it was approved?

If we do change it, Personal Protection seems straightforward and works for me. Either that or Protective Services.

Still doesn't see any bad connotations
Unless you mean in the sense of reading it as each letter individual so, C, P. But i mean, there is much worse on the site already

As an outsider looking at Yamatai and their frilly dresses, I don't really see the use of CP as problematic. This seems a tad silly; CP is actually quite often used as acronyms in the real world without care for that implication because context is everything.

As a member of the NTSE? Unless people should be thinking of said reason to try and get this changed, I don't foresee them making that association. This seems unnecessary by my book and would actually more imply the connotation was there in the first place if we changed it.

It's fair to say the proposed change isn't wildly popular so we can probably forget it. "CP Specialist" just made me raise an eyebrow looking back, especially given they're law enforcement. Maybe it's a cultural thing heh

What do you mean by that?

You could just write Close Protection out every time for maximum clarity if you don't want to abbreviate. And I'm still willing to change the name if we need to. Protective Services (PS) would be my choice.

To answer the question, I've been made aware of a certain treaty called DATASS I believe as well as several products which includes one made by GH in fact with acronyms which are a lot worse than cp
