From: Taisho Ketsurui Yui

As of 35日 9月 YE 38, the following regulations shall be in effect:

1. The rank of Shôshô, Chujo, and Taisho can only be achieved with the consent of the Empress of Yamatai and only by officers appointed to positions for which such rank is required.

2. For Taisho, these positions are:
  1. Commander of the Star Army of Yamatai
  2. Commander of a Fleet
  3. Commander of certain fleet-scale organizations of the Star Army as detailed in Item 2.
3. Noting their size and importance, the following Star Army divisions shall be authorized one Taisho billet for their commanders:
  1. Star Army Intelligence
  2. Star Army Logistics
4. The per-fleet caps of 30 Shôshô, and 100 Taisa are hereby repealed.

5. Officers leaving Shôshô, Chujo, and Taisho positions for reasons other than promotions, transfers, or reassignment to available positions must immediately retire from military service; in other words, admiralty ranks are tied to assignments and the Star Army does not keep admirals without assignments.

6. The minimum time-in-service to be promoted to Shosho, Chujo, or Taisho, is 9, 12, and 15 years respectively.

Signed,

Ketsurui Yui
Commander, Star Army of Yamatai

To: Taisho Ketsurui Yui
CC: Premier Ketsurui Yuumi

Having received this missive, I relinquish immediately the rank of Taisho as per instruction and, as per instruction, retire from military service.

As a parting request and in regards to my long service within the 2nd Draconian, and the former Emperor Uesu, and my service to you, commanding the 10th, I request that in returning my Nekovalkyrja 33 Body I be restored a copy of my original self. It has been a pleasure operating this equipment, in its many generations, but if I am to retire it is my wish to retire into the form that first pledged service to the Emperor and his heirs upon Geshrintall.

If the facilities could be made available to accomplish a cloning of my original DNA, or if authorization can be granted in this special circumstance for Star Army equipment to produce such a form, despite the present legality of such, I would swiftly return your equipment to you and to your family and its perpetuity.

In service of Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Himiko I,

Morioka Naoko
Former Taisho, 10th Standard Fleet
Late of Rowaden and Xiluria

Taisho-sama,

It is with hesitation and great respect that I write to you this day to seek your guidance.

Long was I trapped beyond the Rift with my crew. It has been a difficult transition into the modern military these past five years, but I have relished each moment and could not imagine departing from my sisters in arms.

I see many sisters today leaving the embrace of your grand Star Army into all walks of life along paths great and small. My support could not be more forthright, but I confess my imagination is inadequate to the task of finding a civilian lifestyle.

I was made for war. I have lived for war. I need to die for war.

My adoptive fleet, ever venerable and just in its violence, will case its banner soon. I will have no place to call home.

Taisho-sama, in your great wisdom, please guide me to where I belong. In you, the Alpha of our lives, my faith rests.

Your humble servant,

Kaitomo Musume
Shôshô, Eighth Standard Fleet

Do not be troubled, the plan, which is still in progress, is for fleets to undergo a merging process, not a reduction in forces. There will be plenty of places for Shoshos and Chujos in the new fleets. If anything, the war is causing the Star Army to expand. Even with less fleets, we will have more task forces and more overall ships than we do now.
