In the hallway outside of cabin 12, two young Nekovalkyrja approached the room from opposite sides of the hallway, unknowingly heading towards the same room. On the left side of the hallway was Teien Kikyo, who had extremely dark raven hair which fell down all the way to her waist. Her expression carried her thoughts, making the Neko look extremely terrified of her own shadow and fearful to make a sound. Floating down the right side of the hallway was Kawasaki Hayami, four white and fluffy tails billowing behind her, reaching nearly all the way down to the floor and swelling past her legs like clouds, to the point where they were just as visible from the front as they were from behind.

Hayami reached the door to the cabin first, the door sliding open upon automatically recognizing her presence. She gave a smile of acknowledgement to the raven haired Neko before she entered the room, although she didn't pay her any extra attention past that. This made the Raven-Haired Neko blush.

When she was inside the room, Hayami ordered the door to close for privacy, to which it did, followed by a dull thump and a quiet and muted, "Ow..."

Kikyo let her rucksack fall down to the deck while she looked to the door and had the system open it with her mind as it recognized the youngest Teien. She sniffled and brushed away embarrassed tears with her sleeve.

Hayami was at her bed when she heard the door open. However, she wasn't in a position to see if anyone was behind it. Thinking that the opening was an equipment malfunction of some sort, Hayami ordered the door to close once again.

Just as the door opened, it slid shut once again.

This time, there was a painful whine. A small hand was lodged in the door than scrambled around the inside of the door before banging hard enough on the door before it fell open and the victim rocketted in at high speed, throwing her rucksack across the floor before scrambling for the top bunk and cowering in the corner.

The moment of chaotic silence was soon interrupted by quiet whimpers as Kikyo held her wrist.

The magenta-haired Neko's hands flew over her mouth when she realized her mistake. She let out an audible gasp, her eyes wide and stunned.

"Ohh Chiharu!", Hayami said as she floated up from her bed to a height that was level with the top bunk. When she saw the whimpering, shy Nekovalkyrja cowering before her, guilt swelled into her chest almost instanteously. "I...I...that was my mistake, I'm so sorry! Please...please forgive me!", she spoke nervously. "I...I didn't check the door! I thought it was a malfunction! But...it wasn't it was...it was you! I can't believe I could be so...stupid and careless! I must have hit my head or something...", she said, continuing to ramble on apologetically and without ceasing.

Small and tear-filled violet eyes looked at the other Neko's cyan ones as she rambled. She nursed her wrist, laying over the covers and burying her face in the pillow to dry her cheeks. She looked back up innocently before blinking in response to the other's rambling.

"No, no, no! I messed up somewhere! I must have!", Hayami continued on, as she hadn't been interrupted by the shyer Nekovalkyrja. "I should have actually talked to you in the hallway, instead of just staring at you like a creep! I could have asked! I could have scanned you to see if you were my room mate...which you were! I mean...are! It's all my fault, ohhh Chiharu forgive me..."

A hand came up and placed a finger on the pink-haired Neko's lips to stop her from continuing. Kikyo's violet eyes looked deep into the cyan before pointing away from the bed. She didn't speak, but made her intention clear she wanted room.

Hayami ceased speaking instantly, her tails standing on edge as she did. When she noticed Kikyo pointing away from the bed, Hayami looked away from the bed and looked back towards Kikyo, confused. Upon second glance, the pink-haired Neko understood Kikyo's message and floated back down to ground level, and landed on her bed.

Kikyo got off of her bed and floated down to ground level. She picked up her duffel bag and walked it over to one of the closets and began quickly unloading the bag as quick as she could. She sorted her clothes as fast as she could before beginning to pull out two small boxes. One was obviously a jewelry box while the other was for an object common among lonely Neko which she hid away at the back of a drawer with intense speed.

Shoving the duffel into the bottom of the closet and hesitating until she realized she probably couldn't stop blushing, she turned away and walked back up to her bed and floated herself up. She laid herself down and curled up into a ball looking out towards the opposite wall, absolute terrified.

Hayami simply remained quiet and passive as her room mate unpacked her bag, wanting to respect her space as much as possible, to make up for her previous blunder. When her room mate retired to her top bunk, Hayami looked up unconsciously, but the movement was useless as she couldn't see Kikyo from her angle anyways.

However, she had seen her room mate nervously stuff a few teddy bears in her closet. Already, Hayami could tell that she was shy and nervous.

Looking down at her full duffel bag, Hayami decided that she needed to unpack as well. The diminutive infantry Neko picked up her bag and floated towards her closet, her tails waving gently behind her. After sorting and hanging her clothes, Hayami packed a few personal items as well. She pulled out a small, locked pink chest, which contained much more of the kinds of items that lonely Nekovalkyrja utilized in their free time, than what Kikyo possessed.

She also stored her toiletry kit and a few haircare products for her fluffy white tails and the long, magenta mane on her head. When she was done, Hayami closed the closet.

However, a few thoughts flew through Hayami's head as she stared at her own and Kikyo's closet. Perhaps she could make up for the embarassing blunder...

Hayami took a glance back at the top bunk. Seeing that she was outside of Kikyo's sightline, the magenta-haired Neko quickly opened Kikyo's closet and pulled out one of her plush toys; a fat teddy bear. She then proceeded to close it silently and stealthily. When she turned around, Hayami hid her hands behind her fluffy tails and floated up towards Kikyo's bunk.

"I...uhhh...here's your teddy bear!", Hayami spoke nervously as she extended both of her arms out towards the raven haired Neko, while giving her a soft smile.

What she saw was a small Neko sucking her thumb and meeting her eyes with absolute innocence.. She blinked before she turned a very bright shade of red and sniffled. She saw the teddy bear, but she was too afraid to move. She looked like she was about to cry again.

Hayami cocked her head to the side and floated closer to Kikyo. She only flew as close as she needed to hand her the toy. As she held her hands out, Hayami continued to give the shy Neko an open smile.

"My name is Kawasaki Hayami!", she said cheerfully. "Umm...what's yours?"

The only thing that kept her from audibly crying was her thumb. Tears floated down her cheek and she seemed overwelmed. She thought out to her instead of speaking, her interior voice carrying part of her terrified emotion unintentionally.

"Teien Kikyo."

"That's a beautiful name.", Hayami answered telepathically, a rosy tone in her message.

A perpetual smile seemed to stay on Hayami's face as she nodded in response. Since the shy Neko didn't take the toy directly, Hayami instead placed it just next to her position on the bed before flying back down with a gentle wave.

"If you want to talk...I'll be on my bunk!", Hayami added with the same cordial manner.

After a moment, Kikyo reached out with her other hand and pulled the small teddy bear up to her, tucking it unto her chest. After a few minutes, she'd gotten over her panic attack. She once again wiped her eyes on her sleeve then rolled quietly over to look down at Hayami, hopefully not making too much noise.

She would see Hayami sitting on her bunk in a navy colored, Star Army issue undershirt and a pair of Star Army issue panties, her eyes staring at her communicator, seemingly buried in a text of some sort, given her focused eyes and passive nature. The fluffy white tails were wrapped around her form, providing her a decent measure of extra warmth of coziness.

When she heard Kikyo move, Hayami looked up and gave her a soft wave.

She hesitated and then gave another small wave in response, before smiling lightly and crawling back over into her bed.

The night was quiet and docile.

Hayami had retired for the night shortly before Kikyo, who had come in a handful of minutes after and climbed into her bed. The magenta haired Neko had fallen asleep quickly and was dreaming a happy dream before a sound roused her from her sleep. The sound was a familiar whine and sniffle of her roommate and she sounded somewhat distressed.

Hayami woke up, her eyes blinking quickly as her digital mind quickly processed the noise. It was Kikyo, and she was making the same sound that she made earlier, after the awkward incident with the sliding door. She wondered whether her room mate was having a bad dream, or if she was crying over something else.

If anything, the sound had woken her up. By virtue of that, Hayami couldn't ignore it. Of course, she could attempt to wait it out, but in her mind, she had a debt to pay to the shy Neko on account of the incident.

Slowly and quietly, Hayami sat up in her bed and gently tossed her covers aside. For a few moments, Hayami sat in her bed and simply listened to Kikyo as she cried in an obviously distressed manner. Not sure how to start, Hayami simply spoke.

"Kikyo...", she said in a soft, girlish voice. "Are you okay?"

There wasn't a change, she still kept up her quiet cry. Either she wasn't listening or she was asleep. At any rate, Hayami couldn't tell.

Hayami floated off of her bed and towards Kikyo's closet. After changing to infrared vision, the diminutive Neko silently opened the closet and picked out a Neko plushie before gently closing it.

She then floated up towards Kikyo's bunk. Through her infrared vision, she saw Kikyo curled up into a ball, sucking her thumb again and seeming to be crying through a nightmare. She was trembling and her other hand was death gripping her covers. Her eyes were closed, but every few seconds she closed them a little harder before going back again. She whimpered a little and tried to fold up even more but couldn't.

Hayami floated towards Kikyo slowly, and transmitted a message.

"Kikyo-chan...are you okay?", she asked once again, this time via telepathy.

Kikyo opened her eyes suddenly and seemed to jump. She blinked twice at Hayami, still half asleep and held both of her hands out like she wanted to be held. Her eyes looked both tired and anxious and it seemed she was acting on instinct and raw desire instead on her regular conscious self.

Hayami simply let the Neko plushie fall on the bed and she approached the tired looking Neko with a gentle smile. The diminutive Neko gently grasped Kikyo's hands and moved in close with her, wrapping her tails around Kikyo's abdomen in an intimate fashion.

"What's wrong, Kikyo-chan?", Hayami sent over touch, her tone sweet and comforting.

Her tail felt skin, she wasn't wearing a shirt or anything above her waist. She scooted herself close to her before burying her face in between Hayami's chest and her pillow and began quietly sobbing.

Her thought sent over touch a single word, "Nightmare."

The magenta-haired Neko couldn't do much but to nod in response. She wasn't aware of Kikyo's thoughts or feelings, although perhaps it would possibly help if she asked Kikyo to explain the dream as well. Maybe it was about a bad commanding officer or a training accident of some sort.

"Well...I'm here for you Kikyo-chan.", Hayami started as she wrapped her diminutive arms tightly around the raven haired Neko. "Do you think it would help if...you told me about the dream? I'm listening...", she said softly, her tails snuggling Kikyo almost like a blanket.

Kikyo shook her head, "I-I-I'm just homesick." Her trembling slowed to the point where she only really did it every few seconds. Her crying became in and out, mostly sniffling. She left her head buried between her pillow and Hayami's chest as she began to calm down and her tear-filled violet eyes looked up to Hayami's.

"Please don't move, I-I feel safe."

Hayami seemed to purr softly, and she began to gently stroke Kikyo's hair in a motherly fashion, her tails wrapped tight around Kikyo's form as she did. Just then, Hayami remembered that Kikyo was a second generation Nekovalkyrja, not a created one, like herself. She was born on a starship that she had called home, even if it had been a military vessel.

"I'll sleep up here, if I have to Kikyo-chan.", Hayami spoke as wrapped her arms around the skin of Kikyo's naked back and gently pulled the Neko to her chest, so that the pair was making skin to skin contact.

While Hayami seemed to purr, Kikyo was. She tucked her arms in between her torso and Hayami's and placed her head next to hers as well. "Thank you, Hayami-san." She was blushing again, but this time she didn't seem to care.

"So, you're second generation, Kikyo?", Hayami asked softly as she continued to run her hands through Kikyo's hair. "Can you tell me about your home?"

As Kikyo told Hayami about the Kaiyo, her mothers and sister, and finally of some of her adventures. After a small amount of silence, she began speaking about when the Kaiyo went down, the time she waited for her mother to appear and then feared her for dead, and then finally mentioned that she had relived it in her dream.

She leaned her head against Hayami's shoulder and just left it there, letting her hair continue to be brushed.

The magenta haired Neko listened intently. As Hayami listened, her hands began to idly braid Kikyo's hair as she spoke. It was a poor braid, but it easily came loose when Kikyo finished speaking of her past. Hayami had never realized the scope of her room mate's experiences. Kikyo's issues were things that Hayami would only be able to relate to once she herself had gained more experience as a soldier.

When she finished speaking, Hayami paused, letting Kikyo's words hang in the air for a few moments before she could respond.

"I...I can't relate, Kikyo-chan...but...I symphatize, with...with what you went through. That must have been so hard...", she spoke, as she hugged her even tighter than before. "Just know that I'm here for you...and I won't leave this bed unless you ask me to, okay Kikyo-chan?", Hayami finished as she released the hug and leaned in close, her lips almost meeting Kikyo's own.

Kikyo, in her brilliance and slight panic, though she was doing something else. "M-Mmhmm." She seemed to hesitate to move for a moment before lightly kissing Hayami's lips then ducked her head under hers and curled up. Without another moment's hesitation she spoke, "I'm sorry."

Hayami paused when Kikyo's lips met her own, making brief and fleeting contact before the raven haired Neko lowered her head. She gazed down at Kikyo, her big, bright cyan eyes shimmering in the relative darkness of the room.

"Oh, that was my bad Kikyo-chan!", Hayami said apologetically. "But...you don't need to apologize for kissing me!", she added with a subtle lilt in the tone of her voice. "If anything, I should be saying, 'thank you!'", she finished with a girlish giggle as she placed her hands on Kikyo's shoulders.

Kikyo looked up with a face burning with embarrassment and spattered with confusion. She didn't say or think anything, just stared up with her own piercing violet eyes.

"Hauuu...", Hayami purred guility as she idly undid the few braids in Kikyo's hair. "Do...you want to kiss again, Kikyo?", she asked somewhat shyly, with a deep, crimson blush on her face.

Kikyo blinked quietly and didn't say anything, she just kept looking up. She wasn't exactly saying no and she definitely wasn't objecting. She just looked up at her. After Hayami didn't move for a while, she whined.

Hayami cocked her head to the side, looking somewhat confused for a period. After staring into Kikyo's eyes for a few moments, Hayami slowly leaned up, towards Kikyo's lips, giving the shy Neko ample time to move away, if she so desired.

She didn't.

Upon initial contact, time seemed to slow down between the two Nekovalkyrja. However, Hayami pressed closer as she slowly raised her hands to Kikyo's cheeks. Their lips pressed closer, to the point of their noses nearly meeting just before Hayami turned her head to the side and pressed her lips even tighter to Kikyo's own.

Kikyo let herself be kissed, only kissing back at the latter half of the event. She broke off, purring quietly then laid her head back down on the pillow and snuggled up. She was still tired after all. She did, however, move her hand to hold one of Hayami's before she closed her violet eyes.

Hayami smiled shyly, not urging Kikyo further when she decided to break off the kiss. Instead, the magenta haired Neko snuggled up with Kikyo. As she wrapped her arms and tails around the taller Neko, she leaned up and pecked her on the cheek before closing her eyes as well.

"Good night, Kikyo-chan...", she murmured sleepily.
