=3= It's just a plot proposition thread, you guys. Don't worry, no memes or hype or-

Watch me hype this thread right now.
Joking aside, this is where I come in here and tell everyone I'm going to be doing this plot. You can tell me what you like, suggest things that might make it better...

But it's going to happen. Period.

Spacelaners: The Placeholder Plot Name

This is a plot that I'm only beginning to analyze into further, so it could be some way off. It's why I'm not posting an interest check or anything like that. I've been caught up for a short time and it's been allowing me to pump things through that have been WIP for ages. I intend to fully maximize this window, but at some point I'll complete it and be okay to make another plot.

And that's where Spacelaners begins. It's very simple and focuses on three things.
  1. Traders and Merchant Running
  2. The aptly known "Spacelanes" of Yamatai and various other factions
  3. High Octane combat between ships... that don't have tons of guns to make it one-sided at all.
Let me explain in-depth.
  1. Traders and Merchant Running
    • The experience of a merchant crew, mixed up of people who work for corporations or governments and basically get contracted to run their goods. This could be stuff like acquiring parts and building something in-transit, or getting highly required supplies that can't be afforded a standard ship. And normal jobs. But that's obvious.
  2. Spacelanes
    • Spacelanes have long been a part of SARP I enjoy. Since FTL is stupidly ridiculous, it rarely gets explored. I intend to change that. The plot will take place with crews running this gambit of trade lanes and systems, with a mix of FTL tactics and simply punching their ship and accelerating. Besides, if they FTL it basically trims their speed upon exit!
  3. High Octane Combat Between Ships That Don't Have Tons of Guns
    • WITNESS! In short, this means is due to the fact that spacelaners are fighting for contracts. Sure, someone might get to pick something up... but it doesn't mean they're going to be the ones to deliver it. This is why it's a mix of FTL and STL, as crews have to find ways to trick the pirate-like merchants that take opportunistic cuts. The Spacelaner crew will be fighting clever groups with PA and ambushes, face military blockades and sanctions currently within the plot, and much more.
Now.
