RP: Section 6 Two geeks in a lab of danger

A sigh left Lawrence as he rubbed his eyes, having gone over the few notes he had managed to bring with him and work on while on his way to this planet. It was hard to fix something that you didn’t have much of a understanding of. What the hell was he supposed to do? The long haired man ran his fingers through his messy cream hair as he leaned back in the chair. Pushing away from the table slightly as he sat there.

“There has to be something….” Lawrence muttered to himself, sitting up straight as he looked down to the old fashion notes on the table.

Having these on digital ran the risk of them being hacked. SOmething he didn’t really want. Scooting the chair back over to the table the rest of the way, he started to put them back into the book he had with him. Granted, the book was a old thing. Just something he liked to carry around with him; despite it having no real purpose other than to hide things in.

Seraphina Arturius was a young Elysian woman in her prime at the age of 22, who had an energetic energy as she speed walked her way through the various labs and workshops of Section 6. She wore the standard dress uniform, her skirt swishing as she legged it through the rooms, her long golden hair wavering in her wake, and her alabaster white dove like wings folded against her back. The 6’2 tall woman stopped though as she saw the distressed doctor, looking him over with bright blue eyes.

“Excuse me doctor, but you seem troubled. Is there anyway I can help you?”, she asked offering a kind smile as she approached.

Startled by the new voice, Lawrence shot up and turned round. Blinking in surprise before he finally relaxed a little. Putting a hand to his chest.

“Oooh...geez…” Lawrence breathed. “Please...don’t sneak up on me like that…”

Indeed, sneaking up on him was a bad thing, thankfully his heart started to slow quick enough for him to not be as fearful as he normally would.

“I...I’m afraid you might not be able to help much with the little thing I’m stumped on.” Lawrence started. “But I’m Dr. Lawrence Harbinger, though you can just call me Lawrence.”

Lawrence removed his hand from his chest and held a hand out to her.

“I’m Seraphina Cerulius, but you can call me Sera. I’m one of miss Ironhart’s top researchers. A position I thank her for everyday when possible. I’ve gotten to work with some pretty advanced stuff in the advanced R&D department, so I hope I can help at least a little.”, the bubbly angel said cheerfully accepting the hand.

“Pleasure to meet you Miss Sera.” Lawrence said as he shook her hand.
Though he accidentally gripped it a little harder than he meant to when his strength started to act up on it’s own. Quickly though he released her hand and his hand shook slightly before he put his own hands into his pockets. Damnt it...seemed that was still a problem.

“Well, I’m sure you’ll be very useful on other matters. It’s just a….personal project I’m distressed on. Nothing to worry about though.” Lawrence commented. “Uh….I can show you round if you like? Though...you’ve might’ve already seen this lab then since...you’re from such a high standing…”

Seraphina looked at the man with a puzzled tilt of the head before the bright smile returned, “Well, I’m usually pretty busy, but with Rose and her wife back. I have had considerably more free time. So, I actually haven’t really seen any of the other departments. I’d be happy to accompany you on a tour of the lab here. And maybe after, you can accompany me to the archives? It’s one of the few places I like to relax. It’s quite and has quite a number of books, and you look like you could use a break.”

“Ah, I see.” Lawrence replied; rather glad that she didn’t seem to try and figure out his little action. “Well….I...I really need to get back to work on that….thing…”

A uncertain glance was thrown over his shoulder, feeling rather uneasy. A tour was one thing, he was sure he could handle that without a problem. But...going all the way to the archives….eh...that was a tricky thing. Though he looked back at her and attempted a calm smile; although it looked a wee bit of a squiggly smile that was nervous.

“Tell ya what, let’s do the tour first and….when we’re done, we’ll see how I...well...we’ll just see if I’m up for that last bit.” Lawrence suggested as he turned to grab the book with his notes.

Couldn’t leave this thing behind. No way.

“Well..okay, but you are looking tired doctor. I tired mind is a fragile one if not properly rested. Sorry if I sound like some mother hen, i’m just worried.”, Seraphina gave with a concerned look before continuing, “Well I won’t push you, so I’ll follow your lead.”

“Well there is truth to your words, it’s just….some of us can’t get proper rest.” Lawrence replied, his last part was said in a lowered voice but she might still be able to hear it.

With the book in hand, he started to lead her along .Showing her round the place though, he was hesitant at times, trying to make sure that nothing triggered his other side.

“So...why is it one of the top researchers is all the way down here in a tiny lab?” Lawrence asked.

“Well, I finished my work early today, so Rose gave me the day off as thanks for watching over things while her and Sarah were away in therapy. I figured I would go hang out with Neera, but she decided to try and spend time with her brother. So I have just been wandering.”, she replied cheerfully as she followed.

“What field of research do you work in mister Harbinger?”, she asked with a faint giggle.

“I see.” Lawrence replied. “I dabble, whatever I can get work for I suppose is the best way to look at it. Though Genetics was something I did in my old work...sort of…”

Yeah...that incident went marvelously. He got himself a curse back there, all because of that jerkface sabotaging his work. A displeased expression found it’s way to his face as he walked and pondered on that, though he shook his head. Pushing the thoughts away to try and prevent any incidents from occurring.

“For now, not really much.” Lawrence replied. “Just working on a old project I need to fix….”

“Again doctor, you seem troubled, and it is making me worry for you. There is something that is clearly troubling you greatly, something to do with your work perhaps?”, Seraphina said an expression of deep concern and worry evident across her features. She truly was a caring person, and it troubled her to see others in clear distress, even if they are not open with their problems.

Lawrence gave a weak chuckle.

“OF course it’s my work. What scientist isn’t worried on their work?” Lawrence questioned. “Again, Miss Seraphina, the project I’m trying to fix is….well...not really something that putting others on will do it much good. I barely understand it myself despite it having ties to my old work.”

Taking a deep breathe, he put a hand to his head. Running his thin fingers through his hair as he walked along.

“I’m sorry, but in all seriousness...I don’t think it wise to put anyone else on this…..thing…” Lawrence said in a softer tone.

“I assume it has something to do with genetics, you mentioned that was the focus of previous work? I have been looking into a study of the particular abilities of a young man here on this world. The Director’s son has a peculiar condition where if he does not wear a collar, he turns into a large dog like creature. It has been a very difficult project, but i have hope we can reverse it. He is the brother of miss Neera I mentioned.”, the angel replied very thoughtfully as she spoke of her recent work, another person she was much worried about at it’s focus.

“I feel sorry for the cruel existence that was forced onto him, and on a child no less. It was a despicable act, and one his father plans to administer justice too.”, she continued with a voice full of determination and faith.

“I was...unaware of this but..I am rather new here.” Lawrence admittes , a bit saddened by the news. “ But yes...it deals with genetics...my old work.”

As she went on, Lawrence couldn't help but a feeling of guilt grow in his chest. His old research was left in that lab back home. Anyone could've claimed it or stole it. The scientist paused as those thoughts hit deeper home. Making his heart skip a beat.

“You..you mentioned dog like...can you explain?” Lawrence's asked; trying to mask his fears. “Do you know if what this other form looks like? How he acts when in it? Does it affect his behaviour in human form?”

“Why he takes on a form like that of a giant feral wolf. He has only ever been accidently provoked into shifting one. It took five men in full power armor just to restrain him so he would not hurt anyone. I know he has no control in this state, and because of the horrors Psychopomp inflicted upon him after they kidnapped him. It has influenced him even when not in the form of the wolf. My heart weeps for him and how he must be suffering, and that is why I have been pulling as many all nighters as possible to find some form of aid. I will not give up now.”, Seraphina answered in still such a determined tone, but she could not hide the sorrow she felt at the existence Amit lived with.

Lawrence felt his heart beat harder as it felt like each detail was far too similar. Granted, main differences was that Amit had a fully feral form while Lawrence was more werewolf in build. But...how could they….oh god. Had he ruined this boy’s life?

A pain went through him and he realized that he was fretting too much. Working himself up into a frazzled mess. And since his issue was triggered by adrenaline and heart rate. If Sera looked, she'd find him looking rather tense and pale.

The angelic woman did, and it made her worry all the more, “Doctor. Doctor?! Are you alright, maybe you should take a seat and rest. You do not look well, should I get Aras to check your health?”, Seraphina asked frantic with worry, her concern for the man great.

“NO!!” Lawrence snapped quickly with a growl in his voice.

Though he quickly put a hand over his mouth. He looked shocked at having snapped at her, though he winced as his heart went faster.

“N..no. Sorry…. I….I need to get back to my lab….” Lawrence apologized as he backed away.

“Doctor I wish to help, please do not scared. I am only worried for you. You have been kind so far, and I am just looking out for your well being. I care about you.”, Sera said having not flinched, but getting the still rising feeling that something was terribly wrong.

A weak laugh left him.

“You've only known me ten minutes or so…” Lawrence replied with a groan. “I just….I just need to get something… Be back.”

The man turned round and ran back to where his section of the lab was. Setting the book down, he searched for where he put the sedatives or at least the relaxants to slow his heart a bit. Course Sera could've followed him.

“No no….where did I put them…” Lawrence questioned fearfully.

Sera did indeed follow, to worried maybe for her own good, as she denied simply leaving things be. Her kind heart bringing her blindly closer to danger. She said nothing as she entered, as the man frantically searched for something. Oh something was very wrong here, and she had a sinking feeling it was related to whatever was afflicted unto Amit. His reaction when she talked about it saying more than he was willing to. She looked at the book he seemed keen on not leaving out of his sight. Did it hold answers, was she ready for those answers, or did she even want to know? These thoughts circled her troubled mind as she drew closer to it, her fingers slightly gracing the rough edges of the worn book.

Panicked, he paused with his back to where Sera would enter. His hands against the sides if his head

“No no no!!” Lawrence groaned, feeling a stab of pain. “Did I leave it in my quarters? There should be some here….its a lab…”

His tone was panicked and filled with worry. However, his senses started to enhance. Allowing him to catch onto the scent if the angel. A scent of lavender filling his nose.

“Leave that.” Lawrence instructed as he turned and set a hand in the cover. “Please….leave…”

She jumped as he quickly turned around to place a hand on the cover, and now her own heart was racing. She had seen this behavior before, and she had enough of a analytic mind to formulate a guess.

“Doctor,..a..are..you suffering from the same affliction as Amit? Please, let me help you.”, She was scared but she stood her ground.

Lawrence had a look of fear on his face, though he gritted his teeth as he tensed. Nails dragging on the books cover as he shuddered.

“Leave…. Please!” Lawrence requested. “I can't….I can't slow it...my heart rate...the nrgh…”

Lawrence looked away shaking as he stood there and used his free hand to clutch his chest. Feeling a great deal of pressure there as his heart pounded.

“Seda...tive.. Something!!!” Lawrence gasped before sitting on the floor, trying rather hard not to work himself up worse.

So long as the ears and tail didn't show, he had a chance to make it stop.

Sedative!!! Seraphina looked about frantically, remember there were emergency first aid kits spaced throughout the building. There should be one close by, and just maybe something like what was needed. She turned around and saw the wall mounted box with a red hexagon and black M on it. Bingo, that was it! She ran to it and stumbled to open the panel. Inside were gauze, salves, bandages, pill packs, bottles of liquid and a syringe, and individual paper wrapped single use syringes of the more potent stuff. She grabbed a handful of those and sprinted back over to the other side of the room, going into a slide on her knees to stop next to Lawerence. She frantically searched the wrapped needles for one labeled as a sedative, “come on, come on, come on, one of these has to be it!”

Lawrence gasped for air as there was a cracking sound. It was faint but still audible as his ribs broke and pushed forward slightly under his shirt. Making a hand into a fist, the skinny doctor looked to be a little more built in his arms.

“Relax….relax...come on…” Lawerence muttered more to himself as he ignored Sera.

The wolf in him seemed somewhat willing to comply as his increases mass faded.

Sera paused as she saw these changes, her eyes widening at the sight. She sifted through the pile of needles more panicked now. Agh, so far none of these were what she needed, most were morphine derivatives. She scrambled off the floor and back to the box to check those she had not grabbed.

Setting a hand on the floor, his finger nails sharpened and discolored slightly. A nails in the chalkboard like sound could be heard as he balled that hand into a fist. A pained but feral like snarl left him. As much as the wolf complied slightly, it still wanted out. It was imprisoned for a good while now.

Sera was still trying desperately search, more out of fear now for her life. If he got to far along it could trigger an alarm, a sudden genetic change was sometimes a sign of a bioweapon. And with recent escalations in the fight with Psychopomp and the news of spies in the area. New alarms and sensors had been installed throughout the building to combat potential bioweapon attacks. If she did hurry and find that godforsaken need, she was going to be trapped in there with the thing the doctor was turning into. An outcome that scared her, and fed her panic. Not finding it in the box, she checked those that had fallen to the floor in her panic.

Indeed, it wasn't wise to be in here with what lawrence turned into. Thankfully, his body was too weak and the wolf couldn't force itself out. Resulting in it stopping and Lawrence gasping as he reverted. Though his heart could easily get to that starting point again.

“Th.thank god..” Lawrence muttered as he leaned against the desk.

Sera stopped as she heard the voice, turning back with tear stained eyes from her fear filled panic to see the man normal again. She rushed over and almost tackled the man in a hug as she began pleading apologizes, “I’m so sss.ss.sorry, so sorry, I shouldn’t have taken so long, I’m so sorry!”, she pleaded crying face buried in his shoulder.

Lawrence was still a little shaky, thankfully this hadn’t gone as badly as feared it would. Though, he honestly just wanted to curl up and take a nap/ Course, he was startled when he felt Seraphina tackle him to the floor. A pained groan left him as he twitched, though there wasn’t much of a desire to push her off.

“It’s fine...it didn’t get out at least…” Lawrence attempted to reassure her, but with how his voice sounded, it probably didn’t work.

“Doctor i’m sorry, but i wanted to help you.”, Sera went on face still buried in his shoulder.

“First...can I sit up please?” Lawrence requested.

Once she let him up, he would sit up and give a sigh. Rubbing his sore chest as he sat there.

“Don’t tell ANYONE about this! Please! I don’t know how they’re going to react and there’s nowhere else for me to go. I need a lab in order to work on a way to reverse or remove this thing from me. Or...some form of control.” Lawrence told her.

“Yes, but you must let me help. It is only fair since, I'm obligated to report it, so keeping it secret puts us in the same boat anyway.”, Sera answered wiping her eyes before giving Lawerence a firm look.

Lawrence looked down, giving a sigh before running his fingers through his hair.

“Fine...but no sharing it with others. It’s hard enough keeping it to myself along with my notes.” Lawrence replied as he stood up. “This wasn’t even suppose to happen….”

The last part was more of a annoyed grumble but Seraphina would be able to hear it. Holding a hand to her, he offered to help her up. Once done, he put his hands into his pockets.

“Well...where do you want me to start?” Lawrence asked.

Sera gave a giggle as she unsteadily stood herself, a little tired from the whole ordeal, “Fate has a odd way of throwing people together. Birds of a feather flock together eh? And who knows, we could become good friends.”

“You didn’t answer my question.” Lawrence commented, a hint of displeasure. “IF you want to help, you’ll need to be clued in on many things. So choose your poison, where do you want me to start.”

Yes, fate was a odd thing. A oddly annoying thing that seemed intent on making him miserable.

“The beginning would be best, when the changes first started.”, Sera said.

Lawrence gave a small nod, though he sat down in the wheeled chair. Figuring it be a bit better for him to be sitting. He waited a few moments for his heart to slow to a more normal pace; at least to where it wasn’t beating so hard.

“Well….it happened pretty immediate…” Lawrence said. “Though...calling it a affliction isn’t...quite right. I was tasked with trying to understand how the Lmanel genetics work, their shapeshifting aspect.”

Indeed, people didn’t understand it. Granted, what did people understand of all these other species? Not much honestly.

“I was allowed to choose what animal dna I would mess with as Lmanel can shapeshift into one animal. I was a idiot and choose wolf dna...I had to leave my lab for a few minutes and well…” Lawrence had continued.

Though he paused, feeling rather displeased and annoyed that the bastard had touched his things. Messing with it. Closing his eyes, he took a few deep breaths. Trying to relax as he sat there, trying to collect his thoughts without losing his mind.

“A….old enemy….sabotage it. The color of the serum was different from when I left….I noticed that. However...he snuck up behind me and injected it through my neck...my anger flared and well….the change was very immediate.” Lawrence finished, a bitter tone to his voice as a near growl left him.

The angel place a hand gently a top Lawerence’s in an effort to keep him calm maybe, “So, what happened from there? Did you get the saboteur?”

“I can’t remember!” Lawerence growled. “I can’t think in that state, I can’t recall anything. I woke up in some other part of the city and heard on the news of the some ‘beast’ escaping the lab I worked at. I freaked out….I just packed what few things I had left at my place and left. That planet was too highly populated to stay….what would happen if it got loose again? Nothing but trouble….not but a blood bath.”

Standing up, the man paced. Trying to relax as he put his hands to his head, running his fingers through his long creamish hair.

“Addrenile is the main trigger, if my heart rate goes up too high and there’s too much adrenaline in my system, it is triggered.” Lawrence added as he started to pace. “I figured a sedative or a relaxant would help cancel that out, I haven’t gotten a chance to test it but….frankly if I can avoid any incidents of any sort, I’d be happy.”

Her hand was instantly pulled back as the man quickly got up and paced, “How many times has it happened so far?”

She getting worried he'd get worked up again, but she needed every detail possible.

“Full on transformation, only once so far.” Lawrence said. “Now minor changes, happens every day. One moment I can weak and feeble as a man who has never worked out in their life, the next. My strength can increase enough to dent metal with a swing of a hand. Senses go from human to inhuman at random. Temper flares, rise in aggression. All of it happens daily at random usually. But if I’m already worked up, chances of it are enhanced. And since sleep is a hard thing to do when I’m worried of slaughtering people, you can see why I look haggard.”

“How about you like down, it might help. Here you can rest your head on my lap.”, Sera said innocently giving her lap a light pat.

Lawrence stood there, face going a bit red at the suggestion. Course, he was quick to turn his back to her. Feeling his heart rate increase as he stood there.

“That’s….not gonna help…” Lawrence commented nervously. “Were you even paying attention to a thing I said?”

Sera looked puzzled now, “I was, I just thought it might comfort you. My mother used to let me do that whenever I was nervous, I thought the same could work for you.”

Oh my…..No no no!!! Lawrence face palmed, gritting his teeth as he stood there. He shook slightly as he tried to not make his own situation worse. Though his heart rate increased due to his nervousness and overwhelmed feeling.

“Seraphina…..do you not see…..what kind of thing that could accidentally come off as….when it’s between two people who barely know each other?” Lawrence asked, peeking through the gaps in his fingers to look at her.

She was even more puzzled now, “.....no?”

A groan left Lawrence, trying hard to stay the calmest he could.

“My dear…...I feel like you don’t have much socialization skill….in terms of….urgh…” Lawrence commented, though he winced as he felt a pain. “NEver mind...just...let’s change the subject. Please? Something else….back to important matters or….anything honestly.”

He set a hand on the metal table, just wanting to be able to relax.

“That might be cuz I moved around a lot and was deeply focused in my studies. To be honest, I've never had friends, and 98% is dead with the last 2% who knows where. So sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable.”, She said shyly as the truth kinda slapped her across the face, her face now red with embarrassment as if it had actually been slapped.

Lawrence sighed, pulling his hand down his face before removing it. Oh dear….well, now he felt terrible.

“Okay...new subject then. Anything….” Lawrence requested. “This boy...Amit. The main difference between us from what you’ve said is what we turn into. The boy has a feral form, four legs, down all fours basically. I on the other hand, don’t have that.”

“He was taken at the age of ten by the same group that just only recently took him. Psychopomp conducted illegal genetic experiments on him, then furthered them barbarically when they took him again. Before he had more control, but now he's trying to fight back an anger that is not his own. His body has also rapidly aged as a side effect. That ten year old, now has the body of a twenty one year old man.”, Sera answered still red.

“Sounds like he aged with canine years rather than people years…” Lawrence said, pondering it. “The anger though….sounds the same with mine. A more feral mindset operating with just pure instincts, anger is a very powerful feral emotion…”

Drumming his fingers on the table, he tried not to think on it. This...wasn’t his fault was it? The notes he abandoned back at his old work place. He should’ve gone back for them. He should’ve made sure no one had access to it. The scientist stared down at the ground, his hand shaking slightly as he stood there as negative thoughts swarmed his mind.

“Pyschopomp is notorious for their experiments, and their illegal espionage activities. It is likely the man who sabotaged you was an operative. The USO is currently in an all war with them.”, The angel said trying hopefully give helpful clues.

“No….that idiot wouldn’t be able to be a secret operative for shit.” Lawrence snarled, loosing himself a bit. “He always hated me cuz he was from some super well off planet, and since college we butted heads.”

Lawrence didn’t notice it, but his nails elongated slightly as his hand shook. He drummed his fingers on the table though he would soon ball that hand into a fist.

“He did it cause he was a asshole and wanted me gone.” Lawrence responded as he raised his fist and slammed it down.

A good size dent was in the table though and that was what made him snap out of it enough. His eyes went wide and he quickly brought his hand to him. Looking down and seeing the sharper nails.

“Shit!” Lawrence hissed.

“Maybe he sold the research data? Psychopomp is very widely known genetics and cybernetics company.”, Sera said watching the hand, “Or they killed him and took it.”

“I don’t KNOW!!” Lawrence snapped, looking at her rather angered. “I abandoned everything there!! All my notes, all my work. IT was all left there! Like a IDIOT I left everything in my lab and ran!!”

His heart picked up in it’s beating, though he winced as the stronger of the pains hit him. Gritting his teeth, they elongated slightly.

“I should’ve got my notes...but I didn’t. Who the hell knows what happened. It’s most likely my research that has caused the boy to be in their state!!” Lawrence ranted, his creamish hair getting a bit more of a fur look to it.

A pained sound left him as he put his hands to the sides of his head. Relax...relax. He had to relax!!

Sera jumped up from her seat, the changes startling her, “doctor, doctor….lawerence, calm down. Please….”

“Calm..down...I CAN’T!!” Lawrence snarled. “I’ve ruined a boy’s chances of a normal life, because of a project I was tasked with! I can’t stay calm!!”

Indeed, how were you suppose to calm down? Though he knew he needed to, but the poor man’s heart was going to quick and at this point, the beast’s anger was rather infectious for him. PUtting his hands to his head, he gave a pained growl as he gritted his teeth.

“I can’t….I can’t….” Lawrence muttered, though in a more fearful way instead of anger.

Sera stepped closer cautiously, “There is no way you could have known it would happen. You can't blame yourself, and you have been just as much of a victim in this.” She said approaching and slowly and gently placing a hand on his shoulder.

She would feel a great deal of tension in his shoulder when she put a hand there. His body was trying to resist, just as much as he was. Though, it was slowly becoming a futile effort. She would both feel and see his body gain more muscle mass as he gave a pained groan.

“Leave….please…..i can...urgh...seal myself in here….” Lawrence growled, arching his back and hunching his shoulders as the pain spread.

Sera would stumble back with a gasp, followed by another as the lighting was switched. The bright overhead neons replaced with red emergency lighting as a electronic voice came over the intercom.

“[Biohazard detected. Bioweapon countermeasure lock down is now in effect. Please find the nearest first aid unit and apply filter masks. Repeat biohazard detected. Lockdown in effect.]”

The clank of blast doors could be heard slamming shut, any chance of escape now gone. Sera shuddered in fear as the changes progressed and the doors slammed. She prayed for salvation, even as her mind expected the inevitable.

“Doctor….Lawerence? Please...speak to me?”, Sera asked with a voice that was already breaking.

The atrocious sound hit his ears, causing a pained sound to leave him as he tried to block the noise out. Though the canine ears appeared and the appendages twitched aggrivated before laying flat.

“SHUT UP!!!” Lawrence snarled at the accursed beeping.

His size grew as did his muscle mass, nails had discolored to black as they elongated to claws, and there was certainly a more feral look in his eyes. Grabbing the table, he threw it at the source of the flashing lights. Though all it would really do was make a loud bang, denting the table further before it fell to the floor. His hair stood up more as it grew out, looking like full on fur now.

“Turn it off….it hurts...it hurts…!” Lawrence growled, falling to his knees as he put enlarged hands over his new ears.

“I c c can't..it's automated, the shift triggered an alarm. All all the exits have been sealed with blast doors. We can't leave until a team comes in, or you change back. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.”, Sera cried once more as the situation grew upless like watching a train wreck.

A pained but feral growl left the changing man, his eyes were still green but the whites of his eyes having a yellow tint to them. A feral like gaze darted round, before the changing man clenched a fist and struck the door as hard as they could. Granted, he wasn’t full changed yet. So even with his strength getting higher, chances of him doing anything to these doors was low; possibly still low even if he fully changed and got to the full strength of said form. All this effort did as cause him to damage his own hand.

A snarl left him as part of his hand busted open in a cut due to the foolish action. Though, the beast inside took it as leverage, altering that hand to more of a paw like appendage with fur starting to cover it. Due to being in a feral mindset, the beast threw another punch at the door. At this rate, a sedative or knocking him out would be the best course. THough if the first option was choosen, it would have to be a strong sedative and might take a bit. It would go through his system quick due to his body’s changing state. Unless...Seraphine had a better idea?

She knew not where any of it could be found, the only place where it should have been, had been empty of it. She was absolutely terrified now, and only hoped a team was on the way. Sera took some unsteady steps back, trying not to move to quickly, less she drew the beast’s attention. Luck would not be on her side as she tripped and fell back with a, “oomph.”

A feral gaze would be directed at her, ears twitching as they looked at her. Heavy breathing was leaving the partially turned man as they dragged claws down the blast door. Creating a sound that was just as terrible as the screeching of alarms. Lawrence was in a bad state. Being governed by a feral beast when he normally used his head. Though a strong pain went through their chest, causing them to grip it and make a whine sound.

Even though it had been a while since his first major transformation. He was still weak from it, and the partial change today wasn’t helping him regain enough strength. His body was getting close to giving out from the overtaxing change that was raging through him.

Sera crawled back a foot in a desperate effort to put distance between them. She saw him falter and saw it as her chance to run, scrambling off the floor and began beating on an opposing blast door. “Help me!”

If she stopped her panic and listened, the sound of armored boots could be heard muffled through the foot thick durandium doors.

Ears twitched, picking up on the sounds. WHile the beast wanted out, it didn’t fancy a fight. Finally, it let itself be pushed back down. Sera would hear pained gasping and then severe coughing. If she looked, she would Lawrence back to normal. Clutching his chest as he fell to his knees, though she’d spot blood being coughed up as his body shook. He was a great deal paler. The scientist would end up laying on their side, gasping for air as they trembled. Their heart rate somewhat slowed but it felt like the organ was being smashed in his chest and air felt like a thing he wasn’t getting; despite actually getting air in.

The danger was gone for the moment, unless...it somehow got retriggered as he was still conscious. And a wolf that was weak and wounded, could be a unpredictable thing.

Sera heard the cough then Lawerence on the floor coughing blood. She rushed over worried at the sight, dropping to her knees by his side. Shit, she needed an alibi quick, and a believable one at that. Otherwise questions would be asked, and she feared for the man in that outcome. She placed his head on her lap in an effort to keep his throat from clogging with blood as the blast doors she had banged on were opened.

A team of five heavily armored men with rifles and a spherical shaped drone with find entered, sweeping the room.

“Help! There was a beaker of chemicals that burst with a….uh massive concussive force. He needs medical attention quickly, please!”, Sera pleaded grasping for something to tell them.

Lawrence was too weak to resist any of the adjustments that Sera made to his position. Gasping for air still as he laid there and gave a few more coughs. Shaking still, his eyes were closed as he laid there. The scientist was gonna be rather useless for the time being. He was too out of it, too worn out, and his body struggling to cope with the strain of changing.

Her attempts to cover up the incident could work. The table had a dent on the top originally due to his fist slamming down on it. That could work for a beaker explosion. Along with it being thrown across the room too. At least...it was all Lawrence could hope would work. The only issue might be the lack of damage to the palms of his hands, through his hands were currently reddish. Due to the strain of changing back and forth. And the one that was bleeding would have a great deal of bruising.

All in all, the attempt could work. Right now, Lawrence was just trying to breathe as his heart started to slow further.

Two of the armored men hustled it over to look over the man on the floor.

“Thank you miss Cerulius, we'll take it from here. We'll take him to the medical wing for a check-up and treatment.”, One said as they had a stretcher brought over and Lawerence moved. The other troopers giving the man a shot.

Sera stood as they carried him off, the trooper who had originally looked him over having stayed.

“What you witnessed here is classified, understood. The commander has put a lock on all security footage, with a dockered copy of the footage and the recorded readings inside the room.”

“Wait.. what?! What do you mean? You knew?!”, Sera asked in disbelief.

“Everyone is required to participate in medical checkups upon being hired. The doctor showed anomalous readings that only one other person on file has. We didn't know, but we suspected. Commander wants him to stay around so we can gather data. Your officially assigned as his observer.”, The armored man said before walking away.

The others began to clean up the mess from the incident. Sera left standing alone still dumbfounded.

Lawrence would eventually stir four hours later, a groan left him as his eyes opened weakly. He felt horrible...but that meant what had happened was real. A few coughs left him as he sat up, putting his now bandaged hand against his mouth. A few weak blinks left him as he took in the room around him. It looked like the medical wing...though it felt a little odd to him. Well he was still partially out of it.

His throat felt rather raw and he sat a little hunched forward. Taking a few deeper breathes in order to make sure everything was functioning properly in his own chest.

If the man stirred himself the rest of the way awake, he would find a secured IV in his arm via a clamp with built in syringe. It was late and most of the lights were off, the dark silhouette of a man sitting in the corner of the patient alcove could faintly be made out, an object in his hand.

“My head….” lawrence grumbled softly as he rubbed his forehead as he came the rest of the way awake. “Wait…”

The iv was certainly odd looking though he glanced up. A surprised and confused expression was on his face as he noticed the person.

“Hello?” Lawrence greeted nervously.

“Ah, your awake. Good. I would like to explain your situation to you mister Harbinger. You see, I have had assumptions since your arrival, but this incident has proven them true. Now don't panic, try to turn, or bother running. In your arm is a braced IV feeding from a tank of very potent sedative. If you try to do any of the above well. We'll just be having this conversation again when you wake up, but if I find you are far too dangerous to my personnel here, or those of the public. The remote in my hand has a dial, set to either low, medium, or fatal dosages. It is in your best interest to cooperate.”, Jack said from the shadows, the flare of the end of a cigar illuminating his face for a moment. Crimson eyes watching Lawerence like some devil's advocate.

If it was possible for the man to become even more pale and sickly looking, it happened as Jack told him what the brace was. What it would do to him. A few harsher coughes left him as his body was too weakened to do anything. Despite these being prime conditions to cause the wolf to stir.

“I don’t….want to change….it’s never a choice I make to...it’s….not in my control.” Lawrence gasped, trying to force down a cough that was stuck in his throat. “Why the lights off? I know that voice….saw you brawling with a guy who looked like yourself...remember?”

“That is correct, I am Jack Pine, director, commander, and founder of Section 6. Your employer. I am well aware of your lack of control, my son Amit as you know, has a similar condition. That is why you need to listen very closely and carefully Harbinger. After we are done talking here you will be allowed back to work. We need the data from your research to find some answer to this condition that you two seem to have. But. You will be free to move around freely, but your movements will be monitored, off world travel will not be possible, and any attempt to do so will be met with force. There will be guards stationed around the outside of your lab with rifles loaded with stun gel rounds. The sensors you triggered to cause a lockdown will be calibrated for the early stages of your transformation.”, Jack continued before pausing to add something, “The lights are off because it's late and most of the staff went home.” Tag

“Just STOP!!” Lawrence requested, shaking as he sat there. “Threatening is only going to make it worse. My condition is trig...triggered through increased heart rate, adrenaline, any emotions that trigger those. Trigger it. It has its own mindset, you’ll piss it off….please...just...just stop...i never wanted to be some monstrosity…...please…”

The weak man couldn’t help but look down at his shaking hands. He wasn’t changing, just feeling a bit cold and his body was weak.

“Please….just stop threatening me...there’s nowhere for me to go...I don’t want to cause problems. I’m glad you have a extra lock down on my lab...i practically live in it rather than my quarters…” Lawrence said, trying to keep tears away. “Just stop telling me about it...your son is similar to mine but we are different. I don’t even think I can cure myself or put some form of control in me with my research….i lost so much of it when I fled home due to freaking out over this whole mess…”

Rubbing his eyes, he took a few deep breaths before coughing. He looked back at Jack, folding his arms as he tried to warm them up.

“I don’t know what modifications the Psychopomp people made to my original research….i don’t know how to fix myself..” Lawrence continued. “I never asked for this...some asshole just never liked me and sabotage a experiment of mine and injected it into me. When it was never meant to be injected into a human…”

“We never do ask to be the monsters we become. I know that lesson well, and you may not understand what I mean, but maybe someday you will. Not every monster looks inhuman, some of them look like another man. Psychopomp will be dealt with soon enough, and from their ashes….hopefully answers. I'm glad we have an understanding. Any equipment, personnel, or materials you need just ask. Any findings will be uploaded to the archives mainframe.”, Jack said before getting up and into the light, the man's white hair now evident along with his other features. The long scar passing over his right eye, and the double helix tattoo curved around his left eye. He tossed the remote on to the man's lab, looking at it would reveal it to be a fake.

“I never needed a remote.”, He said as he began to walk away pausing at the door. He gave a quick snap of his fingers and the cuff beeped faintly, retracting it's needle, and popping open. The devices softly falling to the bed.

“Neera and Seraphina will be acting as part time assistants for your work. Now have a good night Lawerence, and make sure to sleep.”, He finished before finally leaving, having never turned around as he had talked.

Lawrence caught the remote, his green eyes wide as he stared at it in utter shock and horror. IT was...fake? Then….what of the? As if to answer his mental questions, the needle and clamp fell off of him and he looked to them. BLinking in even more shock as he turned a fearful gaze to Jack’s back. He lied….he was lying the whole time?!!

When Jack left, Lawrence looked back at the remote. Tears leaving his eyes as he couldn’t suppress the emotion anymore. Though he threw the remote across the room, smashing it on the wall and burying his face into his hands. Sobbing as sat there. The man was unlikely to sleep any time soon, at least...until he ended up passing out from exhaustion.
