Why is smoking illegal?

My friends on the sight will laugh at this, and will probably have been expecting this, but why is smoking ilegal.

Because it is carciogenic, and causes a huge range of health problems, not just to you but to the people around you. It causes you to stink, and basicly destroys every single part of your body.

Due to health concerns it was banned on Yamatai, I believe mainly due to secondary smoking effects.

Just helping out.

Smoking isn't illegal if you are of age (unless you mean Marijuana). It is illegal for minors because it causes hellaproblems with their development, just like alcohol at too young an age (say below 17) will cause liver problems for them in the long run.



Edit: In the case of Yamatai, probably the above reasons except they think long term and don't want to take care of people with throat cancer?

I'm fairly certain that he meant on Yamatai.

In Britain it's legal past the age of 16.

That doesn't change the fact it screws up your body no matter what age you are.

I can really understand why Yamatai would ban it.

Maybe Emrys will design a new, health beneficial type of cigarette!

So here is the big question. Is Smoking illegal only on planet Yamatai, or in all the Yamatai Space Empire? I understand a lot of people have issues with smoking but people do it. Not only that, but does it follow similar laws as we do. If you smell like you smoke, are you charged? Or do you have to be caught in the act of smoking/with tobacco products on your person?

Fun fact. Smoking reduces your chances of dying from a heart attack. It however raises you chances of having one.

It's illegal to smoke or possess tobacco products on planet Yamatai and most inhabited planets in the YSE. You don't have to have them on you to be charged but Yamatai's police don't like to charge people unless they know they can win in court, so they probably won't arrest you for just the odor.
