WRAP RULES

Canadian-ized burritos are not wraps.

Please don't think I hate you but if I get in trouble for posting off topic because of you I'm going to sigh real heavy-like.

So Wes agrees with raz who is saying we should make the rules instead of have a hard black and white situation, right?

As long as you don't remove wraps completely I'm fine with having rules. This is a bad rule :

"something about how the article must appear flawless to mobile screens in portrait mode."

Because it doesn't give any information on what constitutes flawless. The other rule raz proposed was an example of a good rule. I proposed that a guide to "proper" use of wraps be made in addition to these rules. That should help too.

These are wiki pages, not subjective observations on aesthetics. The pages either work and everything fits on the screen (flawless) or they don't (flawed).

ANNNNND you can adjust your phone's browser to adjust it for you, probably easier that way then well...making WRAP Rules? Wait huh.

The most important step to making your wrap fit is to limit the horizontal sizes of tables you put into the wrap. This is accomplished by having 2 columns and using only a word or two in each column. If you need to write longer phrases it doesn't belong in an infobox.

In the thread I am doing for layout development I've discovered oodles of things about the wrap function in relationship to chart and non-charts. Like locking charts at 300 pixels to make sure they fit on mobile screens. All of my layouts currently work on mobile screens guys. I have had one mobile break, and Wes himself said that it was an acceptable mobile break.

  • Wrap Plugin does not inherently break the Wiki. It is only when coupled with a large chart with a locked size.
  • Locking chart wraps at 300 pixels by replacing the percentage with 300 will locked the size at 300, which WILL fit on a phone.
  • Pictures and images not in chart boxes will be automatically resized to fit the phone screen... So far.
  • Wes is right on he charts. Don't put too much into it.
