OOC [Yamatai] Orochi Squadron - Classic SARP Spacey Action!

@paladinrpg, apologies for the sudden inactivity. I'll be getting back into gear now, I'll try to keep future bouts of abrupt nonexistence sparse.

That said, I've noticed that there isn't really a prompt for the fighter squadrons at the moment; do I improv something on my own?

Oscar Squadron (Active):
  • Oscar Actual
  • Oscar 4
  • Oscar 5
  • Oscar 6
  • Oscar 10
  • Oscar 12
Oscar Squadron (RTB):
  • Oscar 3 (NPC: Miyoshi)
  • Oscar 7
  • Oscar 8 (Heavy Damage)
  • Oscar 11 (Ejected)
Oscar Squadron (KIA/Empty Positions):
  • Oscar 2 (Leading Wingman)
  • Oscar 9

Ok, got a lot of medical appointments to run around to today, but should have a post up for you all to continue the action. Had the whole next post down in looseleaf paper days back when I was at work but realized I forgot part of it and only now was able to get it from my desk, lol.

Recent events on the site also kinda had me down, and then now suddenly I'm getting drafted for all of these Nepleslian/Freespacer ideas to assist with, which is great...

But, I'm now planning on scaling back my big plans for Orochi which were about 5 missions (at least in this massive, open form) down to 2 or 3, so I can wrap it up and focus on these big faction-level projects now looming.

But not to worry, we'll still finish out this current mission (just maybe a bit faster), have a tiny spot for R&R, then conduct the re-occupation for mission 2. After that we'll see what happens for our finale,

@Grey Library You'll have plenty to react to shortly! But you can post again with improv if you like.

Thanks for being frank about it anyhow Pally. I know it can be hard getting motivated when there are a billion things going on at once. Just as long as you don't get pulled away from finishing it completely, that's good enough. ;I

Questions:

-So we have two hull breaches on the bridge exo-structure, one for each of the Neko breaching?

-How do the Reapers as they are compare to the Mindy's in practical terms?

-As above, how to the Squids and the Nightmare compare? Can the tentacles pierce the Mindy's undersuit layer? As I understood, it was pretty much cut-proof and stab proof.

-The proper address would be "Kurosora-Heisho", correct?

1) I'm pretty sure that's correct.

2) They are cheaper and inferior overall, but still capable of taking a Mindy down. It's worth noting that Yamatai power armor is designed more around being light weight and agile, with it's main defenses being arm-mounted energy shields, so it's more of a 'depends on the abilities of the pilot' thing. The teleporter is nice, but it takes time to recharge.

3) They can both penetrate Mindy armor with enough effort. The Squids have shielding and extremely strong telepathy. The Nightmare is genetically engineered, well armored, capable of regenerating really rapidly, and can fire scalar blasts that can really ruin your day.

4) Yup.

Also, nice first post, by the way. ;I

Thanks for the great explaination, PP. You are pretty much spot on. Remember though that combat here is pretty forgiving if you aren't sure or make a mistake... I generally won't kill anyone outright unless you really really seem to want that. ;-)

Arm mounted energy shields? You mean the Ke-M2-G3802? I wasn't exactly sure what that did exactly with the lack of anything more.

The CFS is considered "always on", as a defensive tool, or do I need to toggle between navigation and defense?

I also gather that the squids/nightmare have enough physical power in those tentacles to throw around a Neko in a Mindy around for a bit, yes?

@Mad_Stylus ; The CFS on the Mindy M2-2D can't be used as a proper shield, only propulsion. It's tiny compared to the big ship versions.

Just checked the wiki again, and the "Conformal Barrier System" is built into the forearms, lower thigh, pauldrons and chestplate now, not just the arms, apparently. It's a separate thing.

The way I intepret it is that since you are hooked up via SPINE, it will basically deliver a scathingly painful scalar pulse straight into your nervous system. I don't consider this immediately fatal, but you're basically unconscious while your Neko OS will have to effectively reboot your digital brain, leaving you completely unprotected for awhile while your nerves rebuild themselves. So in a sense, it's not the pulse that kills, it's what shoots you while you are lying there :p

Don't worry, this is really just a planned 'remove NPCs from battlefield dramatically' button, so we can focus on the interior battle moreso.

@Ace, you do know that Kishi's standing in a depressurized passageway, do you? Might be a little hard to breathe in without spacesuits, methinks.

Ehh, we can probably work it out as Alexis finding a comm terminal or window and seeing her fly in if you want.
