Mission began launching from YSS Eucharis aboard shuttle Telemachus. Flight uneventful. Docking revealed immediate signs of Rixxikor incursion as they’d coated the outer door with excrement.
Suites-Heisho warns of probable danger and prepares to open airlock. Personal suggestion to Natsumi-Taii to investigate computer core of the unnamed mechanical planet. Take position to breach and attack in event of hostile encounter. Other away team assume readiness positions.
Suites-Heisho opens airlock door. Natsumi-Taii, silent until then, begins to protest. Immediately attacked by rocket and energy projectiles. Hostile is single qaudraped attack machine.
Shuttle was vulnerable to continued fire and provided no cover. Attacked the machine as matter of course. Natsumi-Taii belays order to charge, orders to withdraw into shuttle after myself, Tsuguka-Heisho have entered and engaged.
Damage to shuttle was still severe enough to cause it to crash, est. kilometer from our designated point of entry. Robot already dispatched and airlock sealed, likely safety measure in case of depressurization. Masumi-Hei defied order to withdraw for sake of other two away team.
Ascertained status of machine and immediate surroundings. Confirmed mission kill. Surroundings clear of immediate hostilities. Trail of Rixxikor evidence in one direction, plenty scientific equipment including Kuvexian make.
Group “outside” recover, with Pan-Hei attempting to retrieve Victory-Heisho. Apparent accident in doing so resulted in body death of the pilot. Civilian Bronzi drew attention to apparent mistakes in operation at this point. Continues despite acknowledgement and attempts to continue.
Masumi-Hei finds manual control for airlock, opens, allowing for team to re-unite.
With Tsuguka-Heisho’s approval, begin scouting apparent Rixxikor controlled area. Goal was to ascertain their level of information on the planetoid. Rest of team converge inside with exception of Pan-Hei attempting to repair Victory-Heisho and Bronzi/Wazu whom could not due to Heirophant size.
Disabled monitoring device farther down the trail. Suites-Heisho confirms presence of Rixxikor beyond door. By this point, rest of team has largely caught up to this point. Door then opens, Rixxikor exit with purpose.
Natsumi-Taii attempts peaceful contact. Surprised they didn’t shoot her. Natsumi-Taii orders to play nice. Rixx use… spray to reveal my position. Decloak, lower rifle, stand next to the Taii. Taii takes exception to order of action, chews out. Pre-emptively attempts to address issue of aggression with away team.
Minor intelligence gathering done. Rixxikor scan away team, begin crawling on us for rations. Rixxikor leader quickly disengages before more information can be gathered. Natsumi-Taii withdraws as well.
Rixxikor intel, in summary:
-Leader, Frixxaqz, identifies as a scientist. On a mission of exploration.
-Mechanical world “Death planet”, with “Ancient warriors” still present.
-Second group wants to reactivate the mechanical world.
-Claimed robots were intruders as well, and non-native. They not only had leadership, but believed it to be nearby.
Yuuki-Hei suddenly opens fire. Reasons unknown, default to protecting squad. Did not open fire immediately, as the initial response was not hostile.
Natsumi-Taii leaps into the cone of fire, struck by Gauss rounds.
Squad scrambles to recover the wounded Taii. Bronzi arrives, accuses fireteam of armed mutiny. Rixxikor leader uses device, initial assumption is that its some form of explosive. Team withdraws with wounded in tow.
Sudden surge of hostile robots. Likely Rixxikor device some form of lure. Damage sustained due to over-saturation of area and narrow quarters. Airlock cycled, away team hurried back aboard YSS Eucharis.
Personal Notes:
-The intelligence gleaned from the Rixxikor is dubious at best. Claims were not verified, and their limited vocabulary skews interpretation. “Ancients warriors” could be defensive systems, a separate make of robot or even native lifeforms.
-Natsumi-Taii is unfit to command an away team. She veered between slow to respond and micro-managing. Chose to berate at length in a hostile environment. Came across as hostle by default to away team. At best, she is a starship operator whose skill set simply did not work with the realities of working boots-on-the-ground.
-The next landing zone needs to be chosen with the largest crew mate present in mind.
-Incoming fire has the right of way.
-Possible the rank and file attack robots may not be intelligent. Recommend analysis of the “lure” signal. Likely they are intelligent and searching for something specific, or non-sapient and following very strict programming. Further study may allow us to manage these machines efficiently.
-Requesting formal designation for the mechanical planet, theoretical defenders and these robotic intruders.
