RP: Bahram Wing [Bahram Wing Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

It had taken Nenetl a few seconds to really collect herself. The revelation that this enemy vessel was on a mission of mass-murder took her like a hard slug to the stomach. She'd never so much as imagined anybody could do something like that. What was the possible advantage to wiping out billions of people who had nothing to do with the conflict..?

(Nenetl, clearly, cared a great deal about the possible advantage she could get from her actions...)

At the very least, Bahram Wing was performing well. Nenetl was among the last to join the fray, but she held nothing back when she did move, conversing quickly with her NI to be sure she understood where she was going, then...

For perhaps the first time in her short career as a frame runner, Nenetl didn't simply cover another pilot; she jumped ahead with what might have been called a 'shriek', chasing after the nearest humanoid unit she could pick out. She opened with a salvo from the star locust, and followed immediately by launching her VT fangs. Eliminate quickly and survive, that was her intent. Establish clear air superiority. Hope the Astarte and its escort could handle the ordnance for now...

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

With the resupply complete, the Fifth Squadron had taken the high the ground while the fourth and first squadrons made their way through the dense wreckage. While this was going on the fifth had broken into two sub-squadrons one going towards the top and the other below. Once both had reached a certain height and depth they banked and spun both up and down respectively.

Targeting the remaining forces in the way of their comrades, the Raevr fired volleys of SCPA and RCPA fire into the NVR forces causing them to break formation scattering to the wind. Some of them however were not lucky enough to escape the scathing blasts and were caught in the crossfire, being savagely blown apart from multiple points as munitions stores, and reactors detonated into bright plumes of radioactive fire.

This is what they'd waited for, the Raevr immediately fired a barrage of APaLa missiles into the broken ranks causing further havoc as the field of explosions expanded greatly before the sub-squadrons broke into four smaller ones. Picking off the remaining forces mercilessly as the Raevr switched from ARMs to humanoid mode in an interplay of aerial acrobatics combating the NVR frames inmasse'. As the last of the enemy frames was wiped out, the fifth reformed themselves leaving the path hopefully clear enough that the first and fourth could break through possible enemy point defenses without the need to look over their backs.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

With the sudden strike carried out by the 5th, Chanda and her comrades were able to have a clear advance towards the enemy battleship, the remaining NVR forces held off by the 1st, while the 5th continued to harass advancing formations in the distance.

The NI brought up some surface scans of the ship. Based on its design, the hinging areas where the ship had unfurled were determined to be weakest points, as signatures indicated exposed power train and substructure components. "Recommended firing time: 18 seconds. Target current out of range."

"Ahaha. Wow, th... -diot is on ou- ...comma signal. Switch to the sec... -ine." The voice seemed to laugh at his verbal challenge before falling silent again, with sounds of a young girl's laughter coming in quite clearly. Shields up and remaining main arm at the ready to attack, the enemy unit deflected both of Malik's MCPA bursts, without taking so much as a hit.

As they approached each other, the unit evaded his first strike and grabbed the blade of the sword with its remaining hand. The armor around the Nahoda's hand cracked more, and pieces were peeling away from the hand and it has begun to charge its cannons to strike. Malik had less than a second to react before his already damaged frame would be torn to pieces.

Her VANDR's sensors reaching out for the enemy that had struck it, Zus had done well to expend the surplus energy from her NEn Caps. Shields read a stable increase in shield output, and her hull was relatively unharmed by the attack. In the intermittent seconds while her frame was scanning, a few more blasts followed, but these missed her by a large margin. The enemy was either moving away or had gotten very lucky before.

A small ping, nearly at the edge of what would be sensible range for a beam weapon, appeared at the far corner of her HUD. It seemed to be another of the humanoid-types, carrying a large fusion cannon on is left arm that was easily half its size. Part of its head optics had been damaged, and it had superficial plasma burns to the armor on its arms and legs.

Akjit's enemy was a skillful pilot, and broke off his assault as soon as the Ivuori runner did. As he weaved and dodged, he managed to destroy another two VT fangs with careful swipes of his claw arm, but failed to evade them entirely and had four of the remaining eight perforate his back. Losing his balance and with another four about to put his arms out of commission, the enemy had no choice but to eject.

It was at this moment that Akjit translated to his target, and destroyed the frame, cutting it in half from the waist up with a full volley of laser and particle fire. The escape pod had avoided complete destruction, but its outer hull appeared to have been grazed by the beam and had begun to crack a little. Crystallized droplets of prajna leaked from the container of an Iroma life.

The humanoid deliberately twisted its body so that the blades would pass out one side when the blades were wrenched. It was not a clean escape, as the unit appeared to be close to being close to destroyed when it turned around to retaliate, its Soono escorts already moving to defend their controller. It aimed to fire on Mu'Tasim.

It aimed.

But as it prepared to fire, the conduits that fed superheated plasma to its weapons ruptured, and caused the unit to split apart from the inside. Charred pieces of the unit were scattered in every direction, and the frame had been reduced to a fine mist of radioactive ashes and boiling synovial fluid. The half-dozen Soono that were escorting it lost control and continued drifting through space, not even attempted to move as the collided into eachother or fire on Famasir when they approached it.

Nenetl's furious assault was on the sole remaining humanoid type around the wreck, behind it the dozen remaining active Soono in the area. Her missiles caught the unit by surprise, splashing against its shields but affording her 12 VT fangs the opportunity to rend her target mercilessly. It evaded a few, and snatched one from the void as it barreled towards it, but ultimately proved unsuccessful in outmaneuvering the melee projectiles.

The attack had crippled the unit, but not removed its ability to mount a sizable defense. In a second, the Maekardanii frame runner was surrounded by Soono, barely avoiding death as their laser cannons grazed her shields on all sides.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

Acknowledged. she told her yet-to-be-named NI, pouring on the speed as she went for the hinge area, doing her best to make a pest of being shot at, to divert attention to other, easier targets. Chanda knew she probably only had one, at best two shots at hitting that area, so she was going to make sure she and her wing mates had the best shot possible at it.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

After the death of his opponent, Mu'Tasim quickly surveyed the battlefield. It was time for him to grasp a hold on the battlefield, and give a sound tactical decision. He noticed the hole punched through the enemy lines by the 5th Squadron, and relayed his appreciation in a small, text-based 'Thank You' to their commander.

"First Squadron, take care of your engagements and rally on Fourth Squadron, The Fifth have given us ample opportunity to strike! Anyone out of combat needs to assist any wing-mates still fighting." Mu'Tasim said, taking notice of Nenetl's plight. She was getting surrounded and might have needed support, but he decided to intervene anyway. Famasir gathered up some of her VANDR's transmitted sensor information and got a general idea of her true opponent's position. With a Sub-Light jump, he landed near wherever the her passive sensors had picked up the controller's movements. Then, he activated his MASC Particle Sensor to gain an accurate position of the Soono's controlling unit. With the unfamiliar target gained, he opened a full-assault barrage of MCPA and RCPA fire, along with a salvo of his PASD missiles.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

Spotting her prey, Zus Sublight jumped behind a piece of debris about three quarters of the way between her old position and the enemies'. She sat for a few moments, before firing off a volley of APaLa missiles followed by PASD missiles, and then boosted straight upwards, facing her opponent and letting loose a few SCPA blasts, hoping to take advantage of its damaged sensors and armor.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

By the stars! Was Isha's inner response to all that had occurred to her in such a short time as well as her NI's suggestion. You're right, all very right. And I'm sorry for that. I'll do better next time. Who is nearest?

The request was quickly followed by by an indicator guiding Isha back to the 4th Squadron; Mu'Tasim and Nenetl had already proven to the Field Physician that they could handle themselves. And besides, she needed to do some recovering of her one. She charged a NeN Cap on her way back to support position with the 4th, when Mu'Tasim's newest order was given. Perfect.

She popped the Cap and recharged her shields before flying toward optimum weapons range.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

For some sick and twisted reason, Nightmare focused it's optics, revealing to Akjit practicably every spectrum of sensor data; the brilliantly bright rainbow of incomprehensible color that Iromakuanhe eyes couldn't even perceive nearly overwhelmed the young Ivouri. His vision narrowed, and a single thing rested clearly in his view, enigmatic colors seemingly highlighting both the object and splashing empty space with vivid color. It was the other pilot's escape pod. With Nightmare's help, Akjit could literally see the individual crystals of ruby red Prajna floating about space. Nightmare laughed. Akjit wanted to throw up. 'Do you understand why your parents sent me here now Akjit?'

"N-no."

'So this doesn't happen to you, and so you realize just what your job entails. Doing this to others.' It spat. As Akjit sat in shocked silence, Nightmare gave the young Ivouri some mercy by returning his vision to normal, then quickly flagging the damaged escape pod for later retrieval.

"So." Akjit spoke, letting that one word hang in his Prajna. "What do you want. What do they want me to do?

'You're such a naive one, aren't you?' It chided. 'While you were off on that little trip of self discovery...' It played a sound bite of Malik conversing with the enemy. Akjit automatically made an effort to reach the other frame runner, but Nightmare protested. 'Dumb fool! He's having the time of his life! Think! Who needs the help?!' It yelled at him.

Akjit winced, but imagined to himself the sensation of shaking his head. He looked left. Right. Up. Down. Everywhere. And watched as Nenetl was bathed in fire. He didn't even notice Mu'Tasim going to her aid since he was hunting down the controller, just the fact that someone on his wing may die in the next few moments. In a panic, Akjit quickly leaped into range and immediately charged at the encirclement of Soono. His eight remaining VT Fangs divided themselves up to occupy a pair of the drones while his Star Locust randomly fired on a third and fourth unit. Lances of light lashed out at a filth. "GET OUT OF THERE NOW!" he screamed.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

Malik knew that he would only get one chance at this. If he didn't pull it off right, everything he had worked for would've been for nothing. Those hip cannons were spaced far enough apart, that if he was able to get close enough, there was a good chance that he could avoid it.

Then that girl made the mistake of calling Malik an idiot.

"Hey! I'm not an idiot!" Letting go of the ATA, Zulfiqar rushed forward, and with a loud clanging, pressed itself against the Nahoda, trying to reach the arm that had been previously holding the ATA around the enemy, Malik pushing Zulfiqar's VT Drive to full power, trying to push the enemy back as he punched at the Nahoda's head with his other hand.

"I'm Malik Ibn Rashidan!" PUNCH. "AM NOT!" PUNCH. "AN IDIOT!" PUNCH.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

ON, VSV Astarte
High Orbit Over Mazerin
Bukor 11, 936
16:39, Commonwealth Standard Time

With the destruction of the first cruiser, the VSV Astarte and her Bahram Wing had succeeded in gaining a decisive advantage in the battle. Now, not only did they break the enemy's defensive perimeter and blown their flank apart, but now had them effectively outnumbered. Even with automatons acting as ad-hoc shields, the number of piloted units in the field was now 3/2.

At the fore of the attack were Bahram's 1st squadron, blazing a path for the 4th to attack the core of the enemy battleship directly before it delivered its deadly payload to Mazerin. The blazing fighters of the 5th and 6th were in fast approach, cutting down defenders as they deployed with a barrage of particle missiles and sniper beams. If they could hold long enough and stave off the remaining units attacking their formation, Bahram Wing might be able to secure victory for their vessel.

After a few delays whenever her squadron would have to break off and avoid defenders, Chanda's unit was now in range to attack. With the battle still raging, the veil of sensors distortion had grown thicker, and charged particles spewing out into the void caused large gaps in view. But despite this, it was easy enough to get a lock on the distant battleship.

"On my command...." Her commander gave the order, bringing his two laser cannons forward. "FIRE!"

Switching back into frame mode, she brought her two MACD units to bare, as well as her own ranged weaponry. Bringing them to bear against the shields of the enemy ship, she triggered their fire as soon as the command came to her ears. The MACDs let go of their charge, as did her Raevr's Shockstings, attempting to pierce the enemy defenses and strike the hinge.

In effect, Malik's unit struck with the offensive power of a tank round, caused by the combination of powerful distortion fields and the incredible physical strength of his Erla VANDR II. However, he'd forgotten one of the major features of this unit that had been so off-putting before, during his initial battle. At that range, the Nahoda's sub arms were able to maneuver in, applying the ends of their concealed fusion pistols against the interior of his VANDR's arms.

With a single volley, it had completely chewed out the tissues lining the upper arm, and left both limbs limp and useless. He'd succeeded in destroying the enemy's head, however, and forced the enemy pilot to jettison as soon as she'd finished her counterattack. The enemy had been fighting entirely blind with her last attack, and gotten just a bit lucky.

Zulfiqar stood triumphantly, Malik having avoided being reduced to atomic dust by forcing himself into the clinch with the enemy. Though both of Zulfiqar's arms were now useless, their sacrifice allowed Malik to force the NVR pilot to eject. In the course of this engagement, Malik had: damaged his extremely expensive new unit; destroyed multiple enemy units; and gained revenge for his embarrassment over the capital.

For once, Malik could honestly say that he did good. He hadn't been shot down, shot in the back by his wingmates, or overextend his VANDR to the point that it blew up on itself. Malik Ibn Rashidan, for the first time in months, was proud of his achievements. Breathing heavily, the dark skinned runner began to cool off, regaining clarity with his victory.

Shaking himself out of his daydreaming, Zulfiqar scanned the surrounding areas for the NVR Pilot's escape pod, sending a message back to the Astarte as he moved to try to carry the girl's pod back to the ship with him.

"VSV Astarte, this is Vaybalri Rashidan. I've done all I can out here. I'm coming back, and I'm bringing in another guest."

"Roger, we will have a military escort standing by as you land." one of the operators aboard the cruiser responded.

Malik responded with a curt understood, moving Zulfiqar's arms to see just how badly he had messed them up. While they could still move, somewhat, they were in no state to be put under any stress. Using the remaining VT Fangs, the NVR Pilot's Escape pod and Zulfiqar's VT Blade were drawn into the EVII's arms, Zulfiqar using a VT Jump to shorten the time.

Bringing Zulfiqar into land, Malik, if he could've smiled, would have had a wide and cocky grin on his face. Not only had he managed to be useful, he had captured four NVR pilots.

Mu'Tasim charged valiantly into battle, cutting down three Soono with his first volley of missiles and particle beam fire and damaged many more, drawing the attention of the enemy onto himself to free Nenetl up. At the same time, he'd also reduce the density enough that his sensors could adequately locate the area in which the controlling unit was situated. The ersatz Famasir advised him against jumping in directly, as the unit was completely surrounded by Soono.

The Temple Guard grunted in the best way he could being represented through a VANDR. He raised up his shield and began another barrage of MCPA and right-arm RCPA fire. Famasir's other arm raised it's shield to counter any enemy fire that would come upon him.

"Zeltzin, thin the ranks of Soono, wear them down and then we will strike at their controller together." Mu'Tasim ordered mid-fire.

The enemy frame went on the defensive, using the wide arc of its fusion cannon to destroy incoming missiles, albeit messily and attempted to evade attacks Zus made with her ARMS Mode Raevr VANDR. Neither combattant could be said to have gotten a complete victory during the initial confrontation, as the humanoid-type frame was clipped by one of her blasts and forced to drop its weapon, but Zus had managed to miss most of her initial strikes. But the distance between them was still quite great and the enemy only returned fire with a quick screen of micromissiles.

Judging by the speed of the enemy and the accuracy of their attacks, it appeared that Zus' lucky shot had caused the enemy to slow down even more.

Zus' imaginary brow was forrowed in concentration, though physically her face was serene. Her Raevr fired off LEMB lasers and PASD missiles as an anti-missile measure, and boosted toawrd the enemy, carefully aiming her SCPA's for a surgical strike on the enemy unit's chest, her RCPA's pattering fire around the enemy to keep them confined within a small killzone.

The Eyr ranr was entirely focused on her enemy, and all distractions had phased from her mind. the Raevr's NI gently reminded her that she should try to focus on the rest of the battle, and Zus assured it that she would as soon as this enemy was taken care of.

Alia's voice popped into Malik's cockpit. "I'd say something choice to you, but you kept most of that Frame from getting too badily damaged." She said, "Shut it down and my crew will get it fixed for you."

Malik shut Zulfiqar down as ordered, climbing out of the Erla VANDR II's cockpit. Reaching for the towel handed to him by a member of the hangar crew , he smiled down at the Head Mechanist, toweling off his orange-ish hair.

"I honestly feel like I could've done better. Thanks though, Alia. It's good to see you again." The Cohronl grinned down at Alia, then started looking around the hangar for any familiar Mechanists from Jarizas.

"You did better then normal Malik, I'll give you that." Alia said as she walked past him and gave Zulfiqar a look over from where she was. "Hm, seems only the arms took any serious damage...Wait, are there pods in your frame's arms?"

"Hmm?" Malik's eyebrow peaked. "Oh, right. Captured enemy pilot. A security detail was supposed to show up and take her into custody. They should've been here by now." The Cohronl shrugged, continuing to towel the prajna off of his face and hair, currently trying to get the stubborn gloop from behind his horns.

"Ah," Alia murmured, "hm, you're right. Security's being a little slow today."

Resting the towel on the back of his neck, Malik shrugged, then rubbed his chin, thinking. "Well, she is a pilot. What's the worst that could happen if we opened up the pod? There isn't any way she can cause any trouble."

Alia gave Malik a dry look. "Don't make me rethink my praise Malik, she's a pilot so she more then likely is carrying a sidearm." Alia said as she places her hands on her hips.

"I'll try to listen to your advice from now on. Waiting for the security detail sounds like a good idea." Malik smiled at Alia, then glared at the pod.
"I wonder, what are the NVR pilots like?"

With a number of frame wings bearing down on it, the battleship core had gone on the offensive now, holding back a direct offensive by the lighter 'Raevr' units with heavy point defense fire and pressing the attack towards the Astarte. If it could maintain the attack long enough and keep the Astarte busy, it might be able to release its payload and send thousands of radiation warheads hurtling towards Mazerin, unimpeded. The battleship had put up its shields to maximum and advanced, just barely avoiding the very worst of the pincer attack carried out by the 4th and 5th squadrons.

Shields were impacted by swarms of missiles, and lasers sheered through the gaps presented after every volley. Although hits on the more heavily armored regions of the vessel were limited, the joints, where the core of the formerly much larger vessel had hinged and opened to expose its missile payload were significantly more fragile. Where the beams of light fire by Chanda and many of her wingmates had struck, the chassis had melted, buckled and snapped, causing an entire section of ship the size of a Vayu to break off. The action was not sudden, either. As it pressed forward, the weakening structure snapped in places and seemed to tear away as it attempted to accelerate.

At that instant, the battleship lost control, its shields compromised and maneuvering gone completely haywire. Losing control and veering for a vessel that would be able to eliminate it in a second, the battleship fired its missile payload. Every single warhead from the compartments still attached were launched and scattered all around. It would only be a matter of tens of seconds before the volley would pass the Astarte.

Chanda resisted giving a cheer as the battleship started to fall apart. She did, however, gasp as the evil warheads were launched. She swiftly moved, doing her best to intercept and destroy any and all with in range of her armament and the MACD Units. "We need to stop those warheads!" she yelled, weapons firing on any and all she could lock onto.

Her VANDR started to heat up with the constant firing, NEns releasing energy as needed to keep the assult up, the pilot working her frame hard to stop the horrible payload from getting too far out.

The launching of the warheads disrupted the original plans to assault the battleship and forced the units still active in the field to react quickly and attempt to destroy as many of the projectiles before they could reach the world bellow. Much of the 4th continued to attack the battleship, further damaging it and halting some of its bays from firing. Others attempted to shoot down the missiles themselves as they flew, destroying hundreds as thousands passed them by.

In an attempt to attack some of the warheads up close, a few of the runners who were advancing from the back lines triggered their targets prematurely and were hit iby the ensuing blasts. The massive release of radiation caused many of the reinforcements to be crippled, and some units seemed to have been completely seared from the inside out by the detonations. Those who had hung back and tried to diffuse them with ranged weaponry had stayed far safer, avoiding the lethal blasts entirely.

Naveed ordered his ship to advance, while the XO gave strict orders to not use VT Blade weapons to disarm the warheads. The vessel and her escort of Vayu moved forward and encircled the swarm of missiles, firing a screen of defensive laser fire to cut down as many as possible and contain their spread. The Astarte fired continuous volleys of particle wave missiles to counter, triggering nearly a thousand missiles within the initial seconds after its first volley. Struggling to hold back the tide, the Vayu began to retreat as some and taken hits and were seeing critical failures across essential subsystems.

In the ensuing havoc, the Astarte stood firm, weather the storm. The vessel took a number of hits but did not falter, as mechanical teams in decontamination units were already dispatching to clear out the damaged areas and contain the damage. Breach shields held the void out long enough to prevent any major disasters, and most of the gaps were being sealed as quickly as they appeared. It seemed, that by the point where the Astarte was no longer able to hold out against the continuous waves of irradiating warheads, the storm had passed and the remains of the battleship, surrounded by a sea of debris and particles glittering in the darkness of space were in view.

The remaining NVR ship made itself scarce during the hail, and fled on its Fold Drive to parts unknown.

Sensors from the various units in the fleet confirmed that there were no longer any vessels in the area. All of the frame units remaining received a communications from the bridge, relayed from their XO by the Missions Operator. "Attention, Bahram Wing. All New Veyrin Republican vessels have been neutralized. Proceed to clean up remaining units, and return to the Astarte."

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

Chanda was soon back in the hanger, cleaning herself off with the towel. "Dear dreams...we lost so many just from trying to stop the warheads." She said to herself more then anyone else, slowly walking her way to the showers, feeling the need for a nice hot one after all that. Tossing the towel into one of the nearest receptacles, she eyed the 1st squadron, hoping most of them got back alright as she made her way out of the hanger.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

Zus' Raevr was obviously superior to the slow, damaged enemy frame, and her particle and laser blasts made their presence known, doing their job keeping the enemy confined, and lancing it in the upper torso, tearing an arm off. But the enemy frame didn't stop attacking, another volley of minimissiles making their way towards the Raevr, which was busy switching to humanoid mode at the time.

The VANDR took a few hits that were not intercepted by her LEMB lasers, which ate away at her shields, but it was futile, as the Vanguard frame crashed VT-Driver first into the NVR frame, tearing it to pieces and ejecting the pilot into space along with a glob of Prajna and some link cables. A quick MASC jump brought Zus out of harm's way as the enemy frame's reactor went critical.

The Eyr Ranr used a few NEn caps to bring her unit back to full power, before realizing that the battle was over. Satisfied that the wing had done its job, Zus made her way towards the Astarte, and called for Mu'tasim over the comms. "How have you held up this battle, Mu'tasim?" she asked, flying to meet up with his Erla VANDR II.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

REVERSE! Isha Ragnar's NI practically shouted as the warheads were unleashed. The Field Physician didn't really need the urging, but it certainly seemed to speed up her reaction time to the incident. A double-jump with her MASC drive put her well and safe from dirty bombs, and she exhaled a sigh of relief. Her arsenal was added in the effort to stop the missiles short of their target, and when all was clear, she gave another relieved sigh. We've done well, she thought to her NI. You ought to have a name, it's the least I could do for your help. Do you?

No.

Field Physician Ragnar was mentally smiling as she landed the Erla VANDR II in the bay. What about Nubia?

It sounds fair.

Then rest well, Nubia. And with that, Ragnar disconnected. Once more, she was herself and drying off. She liked to sit for a few minutes and simply relax with a towel.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

It was more on instinct than conscious decision that Nenetl followed Mu'Tasim's orders, turning her weapons on the Soono. Just like it was more on instinct than conscious decision that she started laughing, first softly then at a full fever pitch, as the battle raged on to its collision.

That she might have died didn't bother Nenetl at all right now. She was practically shrieking in laughter, mentally of course, over the usual channels. The assistance from Mu'Tasim and Akjit may well have saved her life, it was all kind of a blur to Nenetl right now. All she knew was that Bahram Wing was victorious, and her NI was bothering her about something in its shrill manner, and she was bubbling over the top like a roman candle.

Zeltzin, there- The NI began, but Nenetl cut it off.

'Quiet, Gander!'

Thus was Nenetl's VANDR named.

Oh, and a battle won. There was that as well. Probably... time to return to the Astarte, right?

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

"How have you held up this battle, Mu'Tasim?"

Famasir looked down at one of it's missing legs, and then back up to Zus' Raevr. The VANDR shrugged.

"I think I did rather well." Mu'Tasim's voice returned warmly to the woman. He surveyed the battlefield, observing the clean-up operations being carried out, but with First Squadron's duties completed, and it's enemies destroyed, it was time to return to base. Famasir pointed towards the Astarte.

"First Squadron, you heard command, clean-up and return to the Astarte for debriefing." ordered Mu'Tasim beginning to fly towards the ship before stopping and looking back at Zus' VANDR. He held out his hand and beckoned her follow personally.

"How about you? From what I could see, you performed very well in combat." the Temple Guard commented, returning to the Hangar bay, where he would land and eventually get a nice, fresh breath of recycled air.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

Malik shrugged as his wingmates streamed back into the Astarte's hangar, one hand holding onto a railing, the other holding study a bottle of water. Malik was sipping the liquid of life from the bottle through a twisty straw, somewhat bored, but the Cohronl runner still had a smile of satisfaction on his face.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

For him, it was like a funeral procession. Nightmare was perhaps the last EVII to move to the hanger; a small ball like object was cupped in it's hands. It moved towards the Astarte and seemed to be stooped over the escape pod much like a child would when carying a dead pet in it's hands. Akjit stared at the leaking, slightly charred sphere for what felt like a eternity; the entire journey back was silent, with not a word from his NI, or even anyone else for that matter. Just. Utter. Silence.

Eventually, the EVII landed and moved to it's little spot in the hanger. Akjit had to say something. The silence was unbearable! "You muted it, didn't you?" He asked.

'More or less. I wanted this moment to stay with you for years to come, and on occasion corrode you. This, is very important.'

The young Ivouri, no longer as young as he thought he was, cued his communications channel. "This is Vayshirin Chirimar. I am in possession of a damaged enemy escape pod and am requesting guards and emergency medical technicians." He disengaged from the VANDR II somewhat, and instinctively reclined. Akjit could still see the escape pod he laid at the EVII's feet since he was still half in, but could at least move.

"It's not like in the movies at all." he thought. He wasn't shedding tears or particularly eaten up by this. Disturbed, yes, but not like those people he grew up watching. Not at all. Right now, he just felt drained. Completely tired. He didn't know what to think right now. In fact, he didn't know what to think. Akjit wanted to curl up and sleep even, but he knew he couldn't. Not now. And maybe, not for some time to come. Maybe.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

"The Raevr performs well above the EVI I am used to piloting. I wonder how Paralovi will like the new body once we get her transplanted.." the Eyr ranr answered, wondering idly. As she spoke, her Raevr made its way into the hangar, she realized she hadn't actually answered Mu'Tasim's question.

"I think I did fairly well, but could have done better. I chalk it up to being fairly new to the frame and not having Paralovi with me. She must be lonely by now." it seemed the Blonde was overly concerned with her old frame's NI, to the point of attachment to it. Her current frame, in ARMS mode, touched down in the Astarte's hangar, and began its shutdown procedure while the girl inside prepared to disembark.

"I'm sure she's fine." Mu'Tasim before he stepped out of his Erla II, ready to be done with the ugly business of battle. Though, the mention of Paralovi brought forth the mention of his own Famasir N.I. He never learned whether or not the intelligence survived the crash. Losing that N.I. felt like losing the real Famasir for a second time. The thought dulled his expression for a moment before he was interrupted by one of the mechanics were nice enough to bring him his mantle. He thanked the person and put his hefty Temple Guard robe on, his link-suit drying underneath. He looked over to Zus' Raevr and spotted her unit landing.

Mu'Tasim strolled on over, to the front of her unit, likely being the first thing she'd see when her hatch would open.

Re: [Pre-Phase: Mission 3] Ghost on the Silent Line

Mridula came running into the hangar, toweling off her prajna-soaked hair, the rest of her still drenched. She skidded to a stop near the door and decided just to watch, for now, glad that the frame runners had survived - without her sensors, she had had no idea what was going on.
