Physical Description
Standing 2.5 meters tall, Bokundo would be considered short among the Kodians back at Gashmere, but towers over most other personnel in the Star Army. Tawny fur covers his entire body, and at one point behind his left ear he has braided in a couple of wooden beads made by his mother.
His right eye has been replaced by a cybernetic one to help him in his role as a medic. Metal implants stretch around his right ear and to the back of his head, and the eye is usually shining a pleasant light blue, which contrasts his natural chestnut coloured left eye. The cybernetic helps him quickly assess heart rates, heat signatures and bone structures of patients, easily letting him figure out the best treatment.
Personality
Bokundo is a very kind and sociable Kodian with a rumbling laugh that makes people feel at ease. He tends to spend little time alone, preferring company over solitude, and only really keeps to himself when he is studying new branches of biomedical sciences. He likes to take things a little less seriously, as he lives by the philosophy easing tension makes people think clearer. Some people find his jolly nature irritating, but he has the social tact not to be pushy, and it rarely becomes an argument.
But when the occasion demands and Bokundo realises that it might be a few times where its not acceptable to tell jokes, he will go silent and focused. For people who know him, this side of him is eerie, as it seems so odd with his character as a whole. But he will be so focused that he’ll not talk, other than obeying orders or affirming actions.
He is fiercely loyal of his crew, and of the Army. Being the open Kodian that he is, Bokundo will quite quickly take to his crew or squad like family, and will walk through fire to keep them safe. As a medic he sees it as his responsibility to keep the crew members safe, and will often take losses of life extremely hard, to the point where if it was someone he considered a good friend Bokundo will shut himself in his quarters for a day or two. To him it is a failure if everyone doesn’t come home safe on his watch.
History
Bokundo was born in YE 6 on Gashmere. His father was a medic and his mother was a politician well-liked in his home city. His childhood was much like any other Kodian on the planet; he spent it being taught the morals, and philosophy of their species, and later on self-defense that would not only help him against a raging Rulian or invading space-faring species. He quickly took an interest in following in the footsteps of his father, and showed quite a proficiency in medical care. Yes, Kodians in general were good at that branch of science, but Bokundo took a liking to it that surprised his parents.
In YE 27 when the Yamatai Star Empire first arrived on Gashmere, Bokundo was, in lack of a better word, smitten. He found the collection of species, and the organisation of the fleet a wonder that he couldn’t wait to be a part of. So when he finally finished his education in YE 31 it didn’t take long for him to apply for the fleet.
The Yamatai was exactly what he had dreamed it would be, and even though there weren’t that many Kodians that actually left Gashmere to serve on their ships, he quickly felt at home. The mixture of culture, food and music was like a never-ending smorgasboard that he was able to take part of every day.
Recently his brother Umawra has turned against his family, and joined the Anti-Xenoist League and become one of the more outspoken members. With it going against everything that Bokundo believes in, it has created a rift between him and his sister, and the pair are not on speaking terms. For the most part, Bokundo tries to keep quiet about his sister, as he doesn’t want people in the Army to know about her, following the one time he told another soldier which resulted in that squad disbelieving Bokundo’s intents of joining the Army.
