Taurus Star Fortress -- After receiving random salvage from Second Chance Salvage Company, a Star Army soldier used her gifts to thwart enemy forces. Ittô Hei Aera Maren, a clerk currently assigned as a communications secretary for Taurus Star Fortress, received a powerful anti-matter NAM UMD munition and wanted to find a use for it. As the Kikyo Sector has been overrun by pirates and scavengers working for the Kuvexian Kingdom, she decided to donate her winnings to the war effort. With the help of her EOD coworkers on the station, Aera successfully converted an old scrap-pile escape pod into an explosive booby trap. The trapped pod was then placed in enemy-controlled space where Kuvexian scavengers would find it. The pod was quickly picked up by an enemy ship where it exploded inside the cargo bay when the escape pod was opened, causing the ship to be destroyed. For her inventiveness, Maren was promoted to Joto Hei.
The Star Army recommends that all ships attempt to make positive contact with escape pods before bringing them aboard, as the occupants could be hostile or the enemy could be employing similar tricks.
