RP: Neshaten Divison 5 Case 01 - Part 2,

Interior

Cirillo took Arynn's hand and helped pull her to her feet. He let go of her, but frowned as she looked unstable. "Take my shoulder," he said a bit too much like an order before remembering Arynn was a solid two feet smaller than he was. The operator awkwardly looked around until he spied someone closer to Arynn's height. "You, help her walk," he barked before appending a quieter "please."

Kil'nda's call shot his attention outside. His eyes met Hana's briefly, with Cirillo nodding in affirmation. He quickly turned to the new captain and threw up a quick salute. "With all due respect, please see to the injured and get them out before that armor shows up. We'll secure outside."

The Daur hunkered down beside the sniper and clapped his hands over his face to avoid making any noise that could attract the beast, though he could tell it was a matter of time, it would still have his scent after all. With a gulp he drew his pistol which he'd managed to hold onto while retreating from the mutant creature, if they were going to fight he'd be damned to turn tail and run for the second time. They were trained better than that, and with this guy's big rifle they might stand a chance since it almost certainly fired faster than his needle pistol.

The creature in question continued sniffing the air, its eyeless face turned slowly towards where the two were hiding, letting out a snarl before it slinked off into the dark, the hunt had begun and it was stalking its prey, waiting for them to make the first move.

Interior

Saeri nodded to Cirillo and Hana. "Go, we can't afford any more injuries, there have even been reports of a casualty among our numbers though its unconfirmed right now." The captain checked on everyone else and made sure they were ready to exfil, though if this creature they'd gotten a report of was actually a dangerous threat they wouldn't be going anywhere till it was dealt with. "Everyone stay on your guard while we move out, Keep a good grip on those prisoners." With that the second Ai'Seru began marching the Kingdom Fall members towards the exit.

One of the Laibe inside the room cocked an eyebrow at Cirillo as he barked at him before finally using his manners but left his prisoner to his comrade before going to help Arynn, he wasn't exactly on her level but given the urgency of this other guy's group it would be pointless to argue, the whole point of Division 5 was a combined force against the insurgents after all. "Sure, though you might want to lead with a please next time." The operator said with a smirk as he took over and crouched down to see if the tiny Daur needed any help walking. "You ok Miss? If you can't walk I can carry you to the Prowler." The Laibe couldn't help but feel a little strange offering to carry her but there wasn't anything else he could really do, she was only 3ft tall he'd never seen anyone else this short in the organisation nor the navy, maybe she was a child prodigy or something.

"S-sorry," Cirillo stuttered with a slight nod to the Laibe who helped Arynn. The fading adrenaline from the mission, the rising elation from saving Arynn, and the renewed tension from the beast attack left no room for Cirillo to socialize properly. He'd just have to cut off his verbal losses and focus on what he did well at.

With a more brisk nod to the captain, he began to make his way outside.

Kil'nda could tell that the Dura beside him was seemingly frightened of this beast and watching it slink off into the darkness told him that this was going to be a very harrowing experience. He tapped his comms again. "If anyone else in trained with a rifle I shot down a hostile that also had a sniper rifle in thaat building. Get to it and we can have two high powered rifles after this thing." He said and looked around. The most ideal place to be was inside that building, it's narrow halls wold spell doom for this beast if it tried fallowing inside. Sadly he was not too close to that building and it was likly what the monster was counting on. What did he have though? Those un used sniper spots he had picked out. They were meant for him to dash between and take shots should he be under fire. He trained his eyes on a rather large pile of junk, debrie and other things. It would make good high ground which would hopefully give them the edge here.

He looked to his new companion and then spoke. "Alright cuti... er I mean.. Alright we're going to make it for that pile over there try to hunker down at it use it as some cover and hope my squad comes out to help kill this thing. Ready? On three. One.. Two.. Three" They would take off for the junk pile for cover and for vantage points hopfully he could help drag this poor guy there quickly before they get pounced on.

As Hana walked up and Cirillo fell in, he could see a droplet of blood trickle from his belt, staining the leggings of his combat outfit. Though the Daur seemed unaware, or mayhaps he seemed to hide it quite well.

Thoughhe halted momentarily. Enough out of earshot of the rest, but still distant enough from the threat to speak; "Alright, I want to turn this in a dick-measuring contest, but we need a stratcaller. Any good reason you'd be better than me?" Hana asked, rather no-nonsense and down to earth. The words weren't condescending as much as they were a simple question. After all, they were on a rather tight schedule now.

Not quite as sideways

A pair of emerald-green eyes locked onto the Laibe man, clearly focused even if it was obvious she'd been hurt. After she made to stand, she coughed out a "Thank you for the offer, I can make it on my own for now." As if to prove her point, she took a couple of unsteady steps before leaning against the wall, breathing a bit more heavily. Her ear twitched and she blinked a few times. Yeah we can make it, but stumble like that again and he'll probably carry us anyways. One step at a time.

With a seconds-long break out of the way, Arynn tried again - still unsteady, she mostly kept close to the walls or the Laibe escorting her, but wasn't having any major issues anymore at least. She recognized a couple of the voices in the building, too - that made her smile, if in a sort of half-anger that so many people had risked themselves for her... But also knowing she'd do the exact same for them, and in some cases she couldn't convince them to stop even if she could have told them to do something. Too bad my neck hurts like hell, coming out with my head up would be great for their mood. She took another breath, another step. Coming out with your head high might be pushing it. Let's focus on just walking for now.

The other operator took a moment to clench his fists and still his shaking limbs before nodding sternly at Kil’nda and getting ready to run. When the countdown finished he bolted alongside the sniper to the pile of scrap he mentioned before. Unfortunately for the Daur he was just a second too slow behind the sniper, like magic the mutant creature appeared from the scrub on the other side of the clearing with a rasping snarl. It launched itself through the air and caught the poor operator by the throat with its large jaws.

The Daur let out a gurgled cry as he was knocked over and quickly dragged away out of the clearing, the razor teeth of the beast digging into his neck as he tried his best to escape. Hushed gunshots rang out across the night as Kil’nda made it to the pile, the operator had managed to draw his needle pistol but with no visual it was impossible to tell the outcome.

Right after the poor soul had been dragged away Cirillo and Hana emerged from the building to be greeted by the sight of the sniper standing atop a pile of scrap. It was apparent they were a moment too slow with the lack of the second Daur Kil’nda had spoken of earlier.

Interior to Exterior

The Laibe nodded at Arynn, she seemed to be recovering nicely but it was clear she’d been hit a few times before the rescue mission. “Alright, lean on me if you need to, lets get a move on.” He said as they made their way out of the building, hearing the quieter shots from outside the operator flinched and brought his own gun up, stopping the tiny Daur for a moment. “Captain, confirm contact.” He hissed.

Saeri had almost made it outside the building when the shots were fired. “Cannot confirm, all operators standby to engage hostiles, we’re moving out now!” Following closely behind the two operators from Leo’s Ai’seru the second group hurried out and immediately towards the extraction vehicles. “Any eyes on the contact? We need to get out of here now.” Barked the captain as she marched the armour clad prisoner through the side of the clearing to their Prowlers.

Kiln'da got to the nest where they could at, least attempt to defend against the beast. That's when he heard the shot and turned around, firing if the beast was in site and then pulling the bolt once more ready to fire another round. Regardless if he got this shot off or not he got right back on his helm "Mayday, Mayday!" He says into the comms. "Hostile creature has carried off one of our own. We need to kill this thing fast before it's too late! Be advised do not separate, this things skulks in the shadows and strikes at it's prey when it sees an opening!" He says all this while looking though the scope of his rifle for the monster, or it's victim.

"Can't really say who'd be better, we both get yelled at for not listening pretty frequently," Cirillo replied to Hana with a small smirk. "We'll probably break coordination in the heat of battle, but I don't mind following your lead to start."

As they emerged from the building, he could only see the lone sniper firing blindly into the brush. He scanned around, but only a splash of blood hinted that another person just stood here. A creature that stalks its prey and drags it back. Is Kingdom Fall training wild animals to carry out attacks? Or is this a failed attempt that got loose?

"Any idea what kind of creature?" Cirillo asked, running up to the sniper and covering his six. He held his SMG level, his sights gazing into the silent foliage around them.

"Let's try and avoid that," Hana retorted with a soft huff as he too exited the building and broke into a jog to join Kiln'da. Shotgun lowered as he approached, though raised once more as both himself and Cirillo reached Kiln'da. "You alright?" Was what he elected to ask. The blood was everywhere - though it seemed to trail off somewhere. But that only showed where it had retreated to into the shrubbery. There was no way to be certain to know where it had repositioned to now.

And it was different to gauge the actions of a feral predator. Terrorists and gangs were predictable at best after years of experience. But Hana was hard pressed to admit he had no clue what it was like to be hunted by wildlife.

Somewhere, it sparked a grim determination. Covering his sectors for the slightest movement, ears raised to listen for even the most subtle of rustling. "Flares," he piped up all of a sudden. "Wild animals hate fire. Any of you got some?"

Interior/Exterior

Arynn, unarmed and weakened, kept her eyes and ears peeled for anything that'd point to where this creature she heard being mentioned would be. Simply put, she'd not be a help if it cam for her or her current escort. She took a knee in the pause, and focused. It'd be terrible if someone died just trying to get her back...

Running from Resident Evil

Saeri led her team over to the vehicles and began loading up getting the injured Leo and battered Arynn on board before checking on the others.

"Alright boys time to go, we've got everyone loaded." The captain yelled across the clearing, the other Laibe with her forming a perimeter while they waited for the last three to get on board.

For Kil'nda, Cirillo, and Hana the situation had turned from bad to worst, while many animals hunted for food and were happy with a single good kill it seemed the mutant they were up against cared little for food and was just enjoying hunting as much prey as it could. A low growl emanated from the bushes where the poor Daur had been dragged off, along with a pained gurgle as the condemned operator tried to call out with his neck badly punctured, it hadn't even finished him off properly.

As the growl died down so did any sounds the creature was making in the dark, with their natural low-light vision the operators would be able to catch glimpses as it skulked around just out of view, sizing up it's three remaining targets, the large group were too much hassle but picking off another one from a small trio shouldn't be too hard. The creature launched itself from hiding almost silently and sprinted towards Cirillo's back with its jaw open ready to snap shut on his neck.

Prowlers

The Laibe who'd been helping Arynn helped her into the back of the vehicle before climbing into the passenger seat and operating the mounted chaingun.

"We've got you covered, make a break for the Prowler you three." He called over the comms in a thicker than most accent by Neshaten standards, the hum of the barrel rotating filling the truck briefly before the engine was started up by Captain Saeri.

Prowlahs

Arynn's oversized ears and light-sensitive eyes were affixed towards the open rear of the prowler as she sat down, desperately attempting to glean whatever information she could from the outside world - shouting and barking, and underneath it all she could barely pick up... A growl? The muffled, secure helmets certainly didn't help with her information gathering, as the voices of the Division 5 force was borderline unintelligible, save for the ones directly next to her. Her battered body stuck to her seat like a rock, her poofy extremity tense and twitchy behind her.

It was lucky for Cirillo, the team had itself a sniper. While the other two tried to make their way over to potentially save the critically injured Dura, Kil'nda was up in the spot he had setup for himself watching their backs. So while the creature tries to dart for Cirillo's neck a shot rang out form the Sniper's Rifle hoping to hit the creature and kill it, or at the very least harm it enough to ruin the charge. He responded into the comms "Contact, enmy is trying to pick off the team, bring the prolwer close, a huge vehicle should scare it off!" He says this as he tried to confirm the target's status after having just fired a round and pulled the bolt back

In the Worst Possible Spot

Cirillo flinched, more so from the sniper bullet whizzing past him than the creature. He hadn't even noticed that he was about to be reunited with the dying operator in the bushes. His first instinct was to reach for one of his knives, but he stopped himself from the clearly terrible idea. Breathe, focus, don't panic, he recited to himself. With a quick level of his SMG, he fired a few burst shots just ahead of the creature, hoping to match its quick speed.

Nor Hana had missed the creature's sudden advance. It was not in his sector, though as soon as he heard even the slightest jostle of his team raising armaments, he too spun around. The Trike with barrel pointed towards the ground, before being raised up once more. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he wanted to apologize to his teammates for the subsequent sharp whistle the surpressor produced in this close range to their sensitive ears. But that was a concern that took a back seat, there were far more urgent matters.

Namely not get eaten.

With more than just practiced motions, the slide was pumped back once, then a second time after the second shot. Caring a little bit less about accuaracy and a bit more about pumping that gaping maw of death full of metal.

Thunder Dome

The sniper shot from the quick to react marksman grazed the creature's leg eliciting a yelp of pain followed by another snarl, having missed its chance at Cirillo the abomination switched tactics and headed for the bushes once more but not before it took a couple of spikes to the flank courtesy of Cirillo himself and another shot to the face from the mighty trike. Luckily for it, the speed it possessed meant no vital organs were hit and with a bone-chilling howl it vanished into the bushes, sounds of an object being dragged rapidly through the brush reached the operators in the clearing, they wouldn't be recovering the operator's body anytime soon.

Having planned to get as close as possible and after basically being told to pull in guns blazing the Prowler sped into the clearing making little noise as it hovered over the debris scattered all around. The back doors were open with two Laibe reaching out to pull the trio in, hoisting in Cirillo and Hana before swinging around to pickup Kil'nda from his perch. "That's all of em, gun it Captain." came the bark from one of the Laibe before Captain Saeri guided the assault vehicle out of the clearing and had them speeding for Division 5 HQ.

"How many injuries back there?" The captain asked once they were finally on the road, several other prowlers pulling into view behind them as the entire raid force pulled out with several captors and any physical documents they could retrieve.
"Captian Leo needs attention quickly, Operator Arynn is battered but not in serious danger, several minor wounds on most of the rest of us. Plus the one casualty from another Ai'seru we haven't confirmed yet." The Laibe was undoubtedly referring to the operator dragged off into the bushes, alone in his final moments with a monster no one had ever seen before and no one knew how to fight.
"Get Leo ready to be taken inside as soon as we reach HQ, everyone else barring Operator Arynn help the other teams unload and tend to any other injured." Saeri pushed the vehicle to its limits, losing a captain in such a routine raid op would be a disgrace to all of them and especially Leo, and while they were often posted in different districts she wasn't about to let him die a disgrace to himself.

HQ

Owing to the craftsmanship and technology of Neshaten engineers and mechanics the Prowler convey reached their destination within minutes, as soon as they arrived the back doors were thrown open on each vehicle including their own. Leo was taken away immediately while the same Laibe picked up Arynn before she could protest and took her inside. "No use having you strain your legs anymore right at the front door." He said with an awkward smirk as the smol Daur was deposited onto a bed with the Laibe running back out to help the others.

The other 4 prowlers had all pulled up and opened their back doors as well, there was so many voices in the main garage, reports of the strange giant armour suit, more casualties, major injuries, missing in action. It was information overload and if people tried listening to all of it at once they'd wind up confused. Tired and bruised Daur and Laibe alike were shuffling their way inside while the on-site techs took care of the vehicles and proper storage. Captain Saeri stepped out and groaned, moving around the back she looked over the remaining faces of Leo's team and nodded her head towards the doors. "Go and get yourselves cleaned up, Commander is debriefing everyone in a couple hours."

Outside

Cirillo hesitated, watching the monster retreat with its kill into the bushes. He wanted to charge in now that they had wounded the creature, but deep inside, he knew better than that. He reluctantly let himself get pulled into the transport and watched the bushes get further and further away through the back window.

HQ

Trading a life for another, Cirillo thought in silence during the car ride. He sighed, taking his helmet off and letting the air conditioner cool his sweat-covered head. He found some solace in the excuse that they were assaulted by an anomaly. It was an entirely unexpected variable thrown in at the last second. They had performed admirably and completed their objective otherwise.

Once they arrived back at base, Cirillo stepped out of the vehicle and looked around. A small sense of relief washed over him as he saw Arynn safe and sound, the Laibe from before carrying her inside. He worried about Leo's injury as well, but for some reason he couldn't imagine someone like him being taken down that easily. He'll make it.

"
Roger, will do after everything's unloaded," Cirillo responded to Captain Saeri before jogging to the other transports to lend a hand.

Outside

Kil'nda cursed and then took another shot into the bushes but he had no way of confirming a hit, and form the sounds of it even if it did the thing was somehow still moving. He had to take comfort in the creatures slow bleed out given he hit it with his rifle, at least that's what he told himself. He would soon be loaded up with the others sitting back against the wall as he putt up his rifle on the weapon rack as they drove off. He tried to keep his mind on the fact the mission had been a huge success.. try not to think about the cute guy he couldn't save.

HQ

Finally they were back at the HQ and he could take off his helmet and gear that aid him without having a spotter for all his shots. He then got to work on carrying out his orders. He moves and began to operate one of the heavy lifters so that it could haul out the heavy armor that they had managed to disable with surprisingly little loss of life, though many still wounded. He would move the armor to wherever ordered where the eggheads, and hopefully himself as well could get to work picking at this thing, learning how it worked, and of course hopefully one day replicating it for use of Kingdom Forces in the future
