RP: Elysia ECS Civetta di Cielo Mission 1 "And his eyes..."

The Civetta di Cielo approached the fourth planet of the Keren system at low sublight. Sensors showed that the colony vessel had already landed (perhaps because the Civetta had been late to launch, due to a certain level of tardiness and ill discipline on the part of his crew - Ariel would address that later). That was all well and good, of course, but Ariel's mission had very little to do with the colonists.

He glanced back towards Zerachael. "If you could activate one of the Seraph now, it will save a great deal of time. I suggest light weapons for the crew, as well."

He then addressed the crew over the com system, a bright and cheery voice. "If I may have your attention. We are currently in wide orbit around Keren IV. As we are less than fully crewed, we will have to make do with a somewhat nonstandard away team. In other words, all of us will be landing to investigate our artifact. Tironi Reis and Semeai Nial will prepare the shuttle for launch. We will meet in the bay in six minutes." He paused. "In case anyone was not already aware of this, Keren IV has only a trace atmosphere. This means pressure suits are a necessity. That is all."

Ariel moved away from the helm and on to the sensory console, initiating scans of the world to locate - and see what he could find about - the 'advanced alien artifact'. Just a quick look couldn't hurt.

Kale listened to the captain's message without taking his eyes of the console screen, after all what was the point? However after finishing a line of data on Ariel's exceptional brain he stood and proceeded to the armoury where he hoped the atmospheric suits were kept.

After inquiring and receiving the door's security codes from the computer through discreet communication to his data-pad he opened said door and was pleased to see that, along with the Seraph pods and rows of weapons there were a row of Sestina infantry armour suits with a row of oxygen containers/recyclers above the rifles.

Very briefly he overviewed the armour, appreciating the aesthetics of it while running quickly through the information he knew about it - its exceptional strength and lightness deriving from its ADNR structure, its synthetic muscles which enhanced the movement of the wearer, the complete sealing the allowed it to be used in any reasonable environment, and the helm which so helpfully accomodated the ability to attach an oxygen/recycler pack. A fine armour.

Before putting on the armour however Kale decided to lead the way in preserving health by beginning a series of Pankration derived stretches. He would be more than happy to show the correct techniques to anyone who asked - he only hoped that this did not count as too much of a tardiness to the commander. He could really do with not being on his bad side.

Fergal sighed, but tucked his tools away, cleaned his hands off with a dirty rag and made sure he had his 'essentials' with him and strode out of the engine room. He slipped quickly and quietly into his pressure suit and then fetched his tools and hightailed it down to the shuttle. Once there he slipped inside, gave the shuttle's engine a good once-over and finally settled down to check out the rest of the shuttle and get it ready for take off as he was supposed to be doing in the first place.

Of course as soon as it was pretty much ready Fergal wandered back to tighten a few nutts and bolts on the engine and satisfied they wouldn't spontaneously combust on the way to the surface he slipped out of the shuttle and sent a message to the bridge via Datapad.

Shuttle is ready for deployment, Tironi Reis has yet to show up and I'm suited up and waiting.
