ENI: The ESDF Re-militarizes!

The logo of the Elysian's government news station fades away to reveal a glorious view of the space-borne construction yards orbiting Elysia Novus, the almost greenhouse-like structures aglow and buzzing with activity for the first time in years. The orbital station, the Eye of the Nova, flickers irregularly in the background, the workers repairing and replacing its trashed weapons systems invisible at this distance. The camera zooms in towards the construction yards, however, while a man's voice commands the attention of those watching:

"Good evening, this is Adrian Vealous of the Elysian News and Information network, here with some good news: The senate approved a bill to re-activate the weapons systems on our orbital station, and with the Star Army's approval, begin the construction of new warships. The goal of these changes is to, as stated by Diplomat Arvillael Castor - who attended the International Relations Conference earlier this year - is to "provide for ourselves the protection our people need." Due to the ongoing strain of the Kuvexian War, Yamatai has been forced to consolidate their resources, and the activity of undesirables in our space has consequentially increased by over five-hundred percent."

To visualize Adrian's topic, the screen was overlayed with a line graph, shoving the percentage of "incidents in space" over a set time - as explained, shortly after a marked point labeled "Yamatai Defense Leaves", the line begins to steadily, then worrisomely climb upwards, with a high-point of 15% near the top of the display. After a moment has passed, the graph fades to reveal the Patrician man - tall, blonde, and with a stormy grey plumage as his personal backdrop - standing at his announcement table; a cutout of the original scene in space is displayed on the wall to his left.

"Nobody has given out many details yet, but there have been rumors of new ship designs being in development as well, possibly others. We will find out in the coming weeks, as the facilities come on-line and put into use. This is Adrian Vealous of ENI, signing off - and we'll be back here, tomorrow, with more.
