STIR THE ASHES, HERE COMES THE FIRE

  • YSS Tokyo

"What do you mean you're trying? Tell your base commander to check their priorities, this is a direct order from the Taisho!" Himawari sat in the command chair on the YSS Tokyo's bridge, a projected image of Fort Tokyo's Summer-Hei was just one of a growing cloud of screens around her.

Daniela tried to explain to Himawari, "The Commander is worried about not having enough -..."

"The cloning facilities are working overtime now, just follow the Taisho's orders. Every cadet you got should be up here by tomorrow morning," the Tokyo's avatar spoke sternly.

  • Gemini Star Fortress

Sheets of ice peeled off the armored hull of the massive Zodiac-Class Star Fortress as it's armed turned slowly towards the rays of the Jiyuu Star, within minutes the blinding light sent clouds of evaporating volatile off the station's outer shell which made it glisten in the twilight. The conveyor belts beneath the concourse levels of the Tokyo Arm of the station churned with activity as shipping containers were paraded onto the YSS Tokyo. The massive Flagship of the First Expeditionary Fleet was being prepared for its first taste of action as cargo and personnel were rushed to fill its empty shell. A ship was not a ship without her crew, and they had pulled just about everyone from everywhere to get the ship just minimally staffed. Cloning facilities and creation centers were just beginning to come online on Jiyuu, and even with the increased production, they were still running short of what the Taisho had ordered.

The chatter between ships, the fortress and the flagship was almost a constant chatter. Star Army Logistics had stepped in to help and not a single-piston of the First Expeditionary Fleet's engine had so far misfired even with all the demanding calls back and forth between departments.

  • YSS Lorrheim II
  • Fuji-Class Expeditionary Gunship

"Taisa on the bridge," the blue-haired Neko XO announced as Aizawa Tsuya-Taisa emerged onto the bridge and she relieved herself of the command chair. The crew took notice of their captain and then returned to work after she nodded in communication that they could do so. "So how did it go? What was he like?" the XO asked curiously as to how the Captain's meeting with Motoyoshi Taro, the commander to which the ship's legacy had originated. She put her thermos mug of tea into the cup holder.

"He was...Just as I remember him, just came as a shock to see that he's retired with no intention of coming back," Tsuya said in reply, "He didn't seem to want to talk, had himself wrapped up in some kind of a crew he was putting together and a boy." The Taisa's presets all snapped into position as the SPINE interface connected. "What about up here? We ready to push off?" she asked.

The XO sighed, "We're at less than half a crew, and that is all we're getting. I already argued with the avatar of the YSS Tokyo for an hour, she's under the Taisho's order so I would have been better off had I spent the time making sure those base monkeys didn't load the cargo bay wrong."

Tsuya just shook her head, "We make due, once we get this Tange System business out of the way we can come back for more crew. In the meantime, let's get this show on the road."

The Gunship came to life as they switched over to their own power, the docking umbilicals closed and construction framework cleared away from the ship's hull. "Gemini, This is YSS Lorrheim II, Actual. We're ready to depart. We're coordinating with the rest of our battlegroup," the communications officer exchanged, an answer came back almost immediately as the cheerful Miss Vixx was heard over the communication's channel, "YSS Lorrheim II, this is Gemini Actual you are clear for departure. Please avoid the Tokyo Arm as that our Asuga-Class Tugs and our Logistics Teams are already giving complaints about traffic."

Maneuvering thrusters fired, the hum of the distortion drive coming online. The YSS Lorrheim II made her way out of dock like the graceful lady she was and then formed up with the rest of her group and made their way towards the edge of the system. Under orders to quietly get a closer look at the Tange System and to rendezvous with the YSS Ichika that had reported the infestation, to begin with. Take a look, wait for the rest of the fleet that was being assigned to deal with the problem. Simple orders on the communications, execution another matter altogether. It all depended on the Kuvexians, and how hard they wanted to hold the system that was the keyhole for the Misato Pass into the rest of the Outer Colonies of Yamatai.

"Ready for FTL. All ships stay in formation. Remember, we're keeping this quiet. Do not enter the Tange System and follow your orders," the words of Aizawa-Taisa broadcasted across the group before they activated their fold drives.
