OOC: The purpose of this thread is for new arrivals and getting settled.

A New Home...

Packing up her quarters onboard the Namiko left her with a sentimental feeling. Visiting the bridge before she left for her new assignment it already it felt as if she didn't belong. The crew went about their duties around her, a sigh left her lips as she watched their new Taisa emerge through the door. Time to make herself scarce, she backed into the lift and headed towards the shuttle bay.

She boarded the shuttle to transfer to the YSS-Akuro, her new command vessel and home. After boarding she pulled a small bag of sesame gummies from her carry-on and began to eat them. "Coming in on the Akuro ma'am...â€

The Briefing 19:00hrs

The senior command staff and department heads filtered into the briefing room, each taking their place at the holo table in the center of the room. The overlay of the Ahmar system and its four neighboring systems was hovering over the table. Upon the screen behind Katsuko the overall quadrant map, with their projected course to objective was displayed.

Once they were all seated she began "Our mission is to make first contact with the inhabitants of the planet Ahmar as per order of Taisho Yui at Star Army Command in Kyoto. The Akuro's role in this mission will be to provide logistical and command solutions to the rest of the 5th Expeditionary Fleet.â€

0600hrs: Preparations to leave Yamatai

"This is Oberon Transport Dirigo, requesting permission to dock starboard mounting portâ€

Mayuko sat quietly aboard the Oberon-Class transport vessel Dirigo as it moved along, carrying her towards her first genuine field assignment. In her hands, she had a notebook loaded down with hand-drawn pictures and a pen with which she was adding more to that load, drawing a detailed picture of the face of Shôshô Motoyoshi Katsuko, the person that led the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet currently. She reached up a hand to clear a wisp of black locks out of her eyes and continued drawing, using a still photo of the Shôshô for references.

"Excuse me,â€

New Blood: Meeting the Mindy Pilot Mayuko

The AI's voice interrupted Katsuko's concentration, a strained look appeared on her face only for a moment, and then she took a deep breath returning her gaze towards the holographic screen. "Santô Hei Mayuzumi Mayuko has arrivedâ€

(OOC: My apologies for how short it is, Rune.)

Mayuko stood in stunned silence for a moment, staring at the Shôshô like an idiot while a little whirlwind tore through her mind. From the looks of her, Shôshô Motoyoshi Katsuko likely was a Yamataian, liked to wear makeup, and was perky enough she was probably a little bit new to her present rank if Mayuko was any judge.

"I didn't really notice too much, Shôshô,â€

"Santo Hei Corro Adlich?" A Star Army warrant officer called out, briefly looking up from his datapad.

Corro shouldered his duffel bag and approached the officer with a datapad of his own. As he produced it the distinct whine of older cybernetics made itself apparent. The officer's hand recoiled a bit at the sight of the 3rd generation cybernetic arm. Corro remained silent.

"Alright..." the officer said checking the datapad. "You're clear, the Setzer is waiting."

"Yes, sir." Corro respond stiffly and saluted his superior. He took his datapad back and proceeded to walk rather stiffly to the airlock to the Setzer.

*Later, onboard*

Corro grimaced as he twisted a tool into a slot on one of his leg's power assisters. The cybernetic attachment had become loose in the past few hours and needed an alignment. With a few quick turns the leg felt like new.

Sighing in relief Corro replaced the tool in his maintenance box and retrieved another. This time he began to scrap grime and other particles from his cybernetic arm. He caught a good chunk of blackish dirt and oil in-between two rods of his arm. After removing the waste he went back to the arm with the tool.

Well, Corro 'ole buddy you're meeting the executive officer of the entire fleet here. Get this nasty piece of junk up and looking decent and you'll hopefully make a good impression.

A few more minutes produced similar results, but it still wasn't enough in Corro's eyes. But he resigned himself to leaving it be and was about to start with a little bit of polish and liquid cleaner when the warrant officer from before approached him.

"Adlich?" He asked. Corro looked up at him and nodded a reply. "We'll be on the Akuro soon, better start picking it up." After he finished he moved on to another cadet.

"Darn." Corro murmured out loud. He started re-stowing his duffel bag with his tools and the cleaning liquid. He grumbled at himself for being careless enough not to clean the parts yesterday when there was time. Once his things were repacked, Corro found an empty seat and sat down. Putting his hands on his head he rubbed his forehead, relieving some tension in it. He knew that there was no going back now.

*Later, onboard the YSS-Akuro*

Following the rest of the cadets onboard the Setzer, Corro exited the main airlock on the Oberan Transport and onto the flagship of the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet, the YSS-Akuro.

As they began to move into the ship, Corro stopped just outside the airlock and reread the datapad with his orders.

"Mayuzumi Mayuko." He said the name of his new bunkmate. "Well hope we get along, because it doesn't seem like there's much room elsewhere."

Corro proceeded down the main corridor until he reached an intersection. He looked both ways and shook his head.

"You know..." He mumbled to himself in annoyance. "AI? Could you inform Shosho Motoyoshi Katsuko that I have arrived? And could you please provide directions to the main briefing room." He asked calmly. When he finished Corro began to wander down the nearest corridor, hoping to find his way.

"I seeâ€

"Thanks AI." Corro responded plainly and strode on following the new, lighted arrows on the corridor walls. His legs powered him down the corridors quickly. With the way lit Corro's mind was now at ease for a bit, he thought of what to say and how to conduct himself.

Hmmm, I have a feeling I'll just have to go with the flow. He thought to himself as he rounded another corner. Sure enough Meeting Room 2 was there.

Corro made his way to the door before pausing outside of it. He straightened his red uniform as best he could and stretched his cybernetics to make sure they didn't stiffen up. He took several deep breaths before putting on a tough exterior.

"It's time." He said to himself. He turned quickly and walked through the meeting room's sliding door.

"Santo Hei Corro Adlich reporting for duty." Corro announced as he entered he promptly stopped and saluted his superior and stayed in stance until motioned. He briefly got a look at the Shosho but held his mind from making any assumptions.

Mayuko blinked a few times before gathering up her personal affects once again to leave, heading in the direction of her quarters. She was confused by what the Shôshô had said to her about people being what they have the potential to be. Mayuko did not see how things her creators had not built her for had anything to do with her at all. She was made to keep her makers-the Star Army of Yamatai-safe from aggressors, and nothing else.

"Well,â€

This time there was no inquiries about the ride, she set her pad down on the table and rose from her seat. "Welcome to the 5th Expeditionary Fleet Santo Hei Corro Adlich. You will be assigned to training section twelve. I have had to order a Kylie M3-1C for you and it should be here in time for your first mission with Delta Wing tomarrow morning.â€

As Katsuko spoke Corro followed her with his eyes but kep his head facing forward. He was smiling to himself mentally, still trying to keep a straight face.

I like this commander, short and to the point. He thought to himself. Her no-nonsense speech helped him relax quite a bit.

"Dismissed...â€

Bishop stepped unto the YSS-Akuro, "What A beauty" he thought to himself, while mentally took apart a power conduit, he was a little lucky to be here after catching the last transport on board, he had a little trouble getting on the shuttle but his ID had checked out,

He made his way to the briefing room, tryiong not to stop and marvel at the ship, he had never seeen anything like this outside of training simulations and the little sky hoppers he worked on back in high school, there was no comparison.

Remembering the commanders written orders Bishop called upon the ships AI
"AI, I was told to have you summon SHÔSHÔ Motoyoshi Katsuko when I arrived onboard, please comply," he said and waited until he recived a positive from the AI, then continued to make his way to the briefing room.

his last thoughts couldn't have been more obvious, this ship was a work of art, he had only once or twice gotten a chance to work on anything as advanced as this Chiharu-Class Flagship outside of simulations, he felt up to it though, in fact as he walked to the breifing room Bishop couldn't think of a time when he had felt more confident.

Once inside the Briefing room bishop saluted sharply to the warrant officer on duty and took his place near some others of similar position

The AI interrupted her once again "Another new arrival ShôShô, in the main briefing room.â€

Bishop gave a salute to the fading captain's image took a look around the briefing room, there were a few members of his rank, he introduced himself and even managed a little small talk, but no one seemed overly interested in talking, he found a computer and acessed the registrar to make sure he was signed as on board, he found his name in the rooster, he was okay.

Leaving the briefing room bishop made a quick stop to his assgined quaters before heading out to the training excercise, with a little help from the AI he found it,
"300-A03," he thought "Home sweet home I guess,"

stepping into the room he was impressed
"Ten men to a bunk eh, Dad"

The quarters were large, a bed on either side of the room, more then enough storage for the backpack and duffelbag of equipment Bishop had brought with him, there was the door to the bathroom by the left bed and, he noticed, no sign that anyone else had been here yet,

"Guess my bunkmate hasn't been assigned yet," he said to himself dropping his back pack at the foot of one of the beds and stowing his equipment in one of the storage containers.

Bishop walked over to one of the desks, there was some stationary and a pen on the smooth wooden surface,
"better write mom soon, she'll go nuts if I don't," he thought aloud, then left to get to the launchbay for his first assingment

Akina picked at the new Shosa pin adorning her breast, and hoped she wouldn't get yelled at for arriving with one. The peculiar design of the 5th XF ranks struck her fancy, symbolic meaning or not. She sat unaware of the ocassional glances coming her way from the oppisite side of the passenger compartment in the new shuttle. All in all, the shuttle had been scheduled for her, but there was a medical officer (a Geshrin man), and what appeared to be two Nekovalkyrja Warrant officers with him. They had formally bowed, having arrived hurridly just before they left Yamatai.

The Shosa sat next to the open space a Kairi had been placed in at her request. She was sure she wasn't going to use it for anything but a walk outside, but had decided since she could requsition one, she might as well. To her right sat her personal effects: One extremely large bag, a large duffel bag, her garment bag, and her electric blue violin case. Akina's legs were leaned to one side, with one foot tucked behind the other. She had decided to wear her skirt uniform, the white panels just having been modified to reflect her fleet assignment.

"Attention: these are your pilots speaking, we will be exiting hyperspace very shortly, our first stop will be the YSS-Akuro, followed by the YSS-Namiko. That is all." came word from the cockpit. The cryptic praise of her unmet commanding officer had stirred her, in more ways than one. She had an excitement matched only by the trepidation of failing in some spectacular fashion. War College was filled with higher ranked officers, but she had passed all the same. Ironically, the fact that 20,000 or so lives would be her responsiblity wasn't what worried her.

There was a slight lessening of the background humming when the shuttle exited hyperspace.

"Attention: We have now arrived in the Taiie system, and are presently docking with the Akuro. Shosa Shimizu, please prepare to disembark." the intercom finally squwaked, as an image of the exterior of the Akuro was plugged through an until recently blank display screen. The specifications and study of the command ship hadn't struck her, never having been so close during an actual battle. Quickly the tribal designs interspersed with colorful hummerbirds that creeped up the hull caught her eyes, and she cried audibly in astonishment, before they were swallowed up into a large shuttle bay.

The hatch finally opened, and just as the strategist had her bags strapped to her, a Neko in a red-paneled jumpsuit bowed, unhooked her Kairi, and took it off to be set on a rack. "The bay closest to the ridge, Santo Hei!" she called after the woman. She suddenly felt excited, and after a deep breath stepped out of the shuttle and onto the deck. The crew inside finally sat down when she left, as the hatch closed between them. She surveyed the technical crews performing various duties on other shuttles, and took ten paces towards the exit of the bay, before turning around and watching her transport exit through the shielding towards it's final destination.

Morana bit her lower lip trying to think of when the next supply transport would be departing. All she could tell herself was..soon. She had been assigned to the YSS-Akuro in rhw Taiie System and that for some reason made her nervous. Maybe it was because the message had been signed by Shôshô Katsuko from the YSS-Akuro. That meant...Morana's eyes widened a bit as she realized she would be on the exact same ship.

Shôshô Katsuko would be able to watch her every move. That meant Morana would have to try her best and make a good first impression. She grabbed up a rubber band and quickly threw her hair in a pony tail and rushed out to catch the supply transport. She was eager to begin her work and prove that she could fulfil their expectations of her.

Soon the Oberon class transport was in sight. She smiled happily and told the people in charge of her orders and they accepted her as a passenger. Some of the crew stared at her wondering about her eyes...how they were spotted with brown particles but no one spoke to her. She simply made her way to the back of the ship and waited to arrive at Taiie.

In a little less than an hour Morana felt someone tap her shoulder and her eyes opened. She blushed slightly as she realized she must have spaced out. "Ma'am we have arrived at your destination. Please step off and then you can finish your transfer." Morana nodded and made her way off of this ship. This was it, she had arrived. The YSS-Akuro was now her new home. She looked around a bit and smiled happily. The sound of the intercom filled her ears and she realized this was most definately where she belong. The intercom announced anothers arrival but Morana shrugged it off and went to alert the AI of her arrival and the await further orders.

With the Shosa, her new first officer and Shoi Morana arriving at near the same time she made herself available to be in the launch bay. She rounded the corner in time to see Shimizu looking over the technical crews. She said from behind the woman "They are efficient wouldn't you say?â€

Akina probably would have jumped, had her commanding officer not said anything before breaking her stare out of the shuttle bay. She turned around slowly, her hands full, with straps over each of her shoulders. "They ha-!" she stopped. "Yes, ma'am!" she corrected herself quickly, setting her case to the ground, before dropping her bags and garment holder. Her hair had been tied with three light blue ribbons, that did not stop one of the straps from catching a particularly long strand of hair and plucking it out of her head as it hit the deck. The excited feeling she had experienced shortly before had suddenly been replaced.

Motoyoshi Shosho was smiling at her, immediatly the new first officer wondered if this was a test, or some sort of probe the commander was putting her through. Stepping back and bowing with a, "Shosa Shimizu Akina, humbly reporting for duty, ma'am." her mind wandered to the data pad with her orders on them, but looking at the Admiral's smiling face told her she wouldn't need to confirm anything. Maybe that was in my head.. Shimizu thought absently.

* Morana smiled and nodded "Thank you for your help." She turned on her heels and headed over to the Shôshô and the other female. Seeing that they were busy Morana stood their perfectly straight awaiting the Shôshô to notice her. It was rude to interupt and she didn't want to look disrespectful.

Blue/brown eyes watched the women as they exchanged words and such. The woman called herself Shosa Shimizu Akina and she seemed to know exactly what she was doing. Good manners.... Morana thought to herself as she began to take note of both the women nearly analyyzing them just by movement.

By hearing Akina speak she knew who the Shôshô was now. So eyes and full concentration went on the woman until she was noticed and told otherwise.*
