SANDRA History in the Making - Departure of the Colony Fleet

A step toward making history was made today as the Colony Initiative Fleet, also known as just "Colony Fleet" made its departure from its staging area in the outer fringes of the Jiyuu System. Leading the way the First Expeditionary Fleet flagship for the mission, the YSS Mazu was the site where both the Taisho of the First and Fifth Expeditionary Fleets came together to launch this epic mission towards parts unknown. The Colony Fleet Mission was proposed first by Taisho Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko, who intended to rejoin the Star Army after her term as Premier in YE 49, however with her departure from politics early so did the launch of the mission.

The Star Army presence in the fleet is led by the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet, as well as ships from the Taihō Expeditionary Strike Group of the First Expeditionary Fleet.

SANDRA will be following the developments in the Colony Fleet from vantage points on the YSS Mazu, as well as the YSS Battle of Ayenee Capital City, where we will follow this mission. The Fleet is currently headed rimward from the Kikyo Sector headed towards a new sector of space in which they intend to explore and colonize. Multinational representatives from the Mining Guild, as well as civilian representatives from Yugumo Corporation, are also heavily involved in the mission. The questionable experimental hyperspace drives which made Port Jiyuu and Port Siren capable of undergoing this journey are reported to be operating as expected.

The Colony Fleet is set to deviate slightly from its original flight plan which was to meet its forward scout group which included the ISS Asagiri and ISS Shori which departed Jiyuu over a month ago; the fleet will now stop at another system closer to the Kikyo Sector after adjustments to the two ports forced an earlier than intended stop. The fleet will they continue to the destination where the forward scout is waiting for them.

When asked what the new sector would be named, Taisho Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko and her spouse Taisho Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akina informed us that it would be named the 'Kosuke Sector' for the rising sun, and the new opportunities this new region of space promises.
