I had looked up the ship class on the wiki and I was wondering something. Is there a reason that the bow of the ship looks like a sword or is that supposed to be something else entirely?

That would be the main cannon (animation included). The KE-S3-W3020 Main Weapon Array takes up almost half the ship.
Previous versions of that vessel, namely the Sakura-class, could use their bows to plow into enemy vessels. This is in part because of the material used to construct the cannon, Zesuaium.
The Yui-class also had this attribute of piercing ship armor via the hull, so much so that when old ones were dismantled, the parts were forged into swords.
