Part 1: Chicken and Thoughts

  • Lemo, Gryzciki System
  • Tur'Lista Compound

The splash of sauteing, a mix of Lorath vegetables and a Nepleslian protein-meat called chicken was briefly propelled a short distance into the air and then caught back in the pan. The sweet tantalizing smell of Lorath spices filled the High Priest's chambers. Cooking was one thing the servants didn't have to worry much about when it came to Aris'Taeus, the still yet to be known genetically engineered Tur'Lista had a passion for cooking; it became a stress reliever from the educational exercises the caste leaders had given him over his silent year of existence.

Platinum white strands were drawn back into a loose ponytail formed the mane of a masculine and prime form of the High Priest. The black robes he wore in private were more akin to a bathrobe than anything, bound by a single gold rope stretched across the narrow range of his hips and open at the top which showed off that Adonis-like sculpture that had been crafted and maintained since he emerged from the tank. The kitchen was dimly lit, lighting hung down from the high ceiling on pendulum-like wires and cast illumination on the baskets of various ingredients that came from the farming cooperative.

A small screen projected to the counter just to the right of the shove where the cooking took place played the promotional video from Origin Industries, the video had been watched at least a half a dozen times by Aris'Taeus since the leader of the Fyunnen handed it over to him. “By Voxphine’s Shield give them back now!” the voice of Harr'Ikke cursed and Aris'Taeus paused the playback as the camera focused on Destiny. His warm honey-kissed eyes flooded with her reflection as he tilted his head slowly to the right. Such things as the caste leaders had filled his head with, hopeful tales of the theorized return of their beloved Queen. That Voxphine would bring that blessed day and Ifmir would swing his hammer and usher forth a new era of prosperity for their people.

The woman had been declared dead, and everything she ever had was lost. Yet there she was trying to be strong, trying to stand again on her own, or so was Aris'Taeus's impression of the situation. He had yet to make himself fully known to their people and her discovery made that even more hesitant, he insisted that the step they all wanted him to make would happen only when she returned to them when she could cast her approval or disapproval upon him. He had shoes to fill, but he didn't want it to seem that way. There were their ways, but he wanted it all to be organic not forced that was the last thing she or their future needed.

The sweet smell of cooking vegetables brought Aris'Taeus back from the intense thought. Another swish of the pan and he flipped the mixture of vegetables and chicken once more in the air and then slid the entire concoction into a bowl and headed towards the table. The light gleamed off the shiny black pelage of his feathers as he passed under the lights and sat down in the carved wooden chair at the head of the table. His mind was still distant, he filtered his fingers the Maj's hair, the female Helasio who sat patiently on a pillow kneeled next to the chair; she had volunteered her comfort and servanthood during the long quiet wait before he would reveal himself to the rest of their people.

"She likes her food spicier than that. Not too much mind you, but just enough to get a bit of sweat, at least for the main course foods." The words came from the doorway that led into the eating chamber Aris'Taeus found himself alone in save for the Helashio, a dark shadow casting itself into the room by the form that seemed to block out a majority of the frame. At the doorway stood the long loyal woman to the crown and Lorath people, Sen'Ythy, the former leader of the Fyunnen forces, protector to the Tur'Lista, and high general of the LSDF. Weary it seemed as she was often now, she strode into the room with a seeming purpose and sat at the table without much of a invitation nor care for one. She had always been close to the royal couple of yesteryear, serving ever the Xiaah's parents for a while before their untimely death. She knew with the return of Harr'Ikke there would be no issues with her familiarity, but it was something she had to press upon the newly born High Priest.

She leaned her arms against the table, eyes on the man who was to be one of her new charges, at least until someone else could take over the position. She felt a pang of regret over the loss of her protege, but knew her actions to follow the Velor and his ilk out of the galaxy and to a new home was the wise choice. The first born royal siblings were with him, and they would need a strong Fyunnen to protect them. She could figure no better that Lren'Cdyn to lead the Fyunnen of that galaxy, yet the departure of many of the younger generation had left a hole in the power structure and called many of the retired LSDF personnel out and back into the fields to work along side of the Nepleslian military. Sen'Ythy though had resumed her old position, much to the fear and against many arguments from those around the higher levels of government. Not many forgot what she did during the last exodus and before, and not many were willing to forget. But with the backing of some of the higher up generals, they had eventually relented to allow her to train a new protector while still keeping her old role.

"So... What's your plan?" She asked rather bluntly as she watched the new High Priest with a hint of interest. She knew Harr'Ikke far better than he did. Words on a screen could describe her only so well, could only show her habits and lack there of only so much, but she knew the whirlwind that was Harr'Ikke and her whims, she knew how different she was, how strange to those that didn't know her. It would be rather amusing to see the two meet for the first time and she just prayed she had a front row seat for that first meeting.

"She likes her food spicer than that..."

The Helashio's tail uncurled from around Aris'Taeus's leg, her diminutive frame lowered as the Fyunnen entered and sat down across from her Master. The High Priest took another bite of chicken and vegetables, his thoughts drifted briefly to an amendment of the recipe to increase the spice before its purpose beyond dinner was deployed. He chewed and swallowed, then pushed the serving bowl across the table towards Sen'Ythy in offer. The caste leaders were often fed when they came to him, it had almost become a tradition. "I plan to put more spices in it next time, at your valued advice," he answered with slight amusement and immediate avoidance in giving an instant or unthoughtful answer to her true inquiry.

"We could go in circles with an actual plan; all of which hinge upon the will of Harr'Ikke..." he said, the warm honey natural illumination in his eyes seemed to fade a little as they spoke. "I wish I had the context to form an actual plan, but how can you plan for a woman who has sur-..." he hesitated a second, "...overcome what she has. Sure I could board a Zahl and intercept that Origin ship she's on... if we could find it. I could demand she comes home. She might even do it if there is enough of us, but it would make her appear submissive and she would probably hate me for the rest of her life." It was obvious that Aris'Taeus had begun to research his own beyond the narrow scope of the educational programs put forward by the caste leaders.

Aris'Taeus pulled his chair inwards towards the table a little, Maj almost instinctively straightened the fall of his robe around his ankles. "Our people need Harr'Ikke, and I inevitably need her too so that the Tur'Lista will be whole again. One thing we do not need though is her contempt. We need a way to do this so coming home, coming back to her people is her idea. Sure the Nepleslians offer her a seat in their government and they are good honorable people...but, that isn't going to mean a thing to her. We're guests, grateful guests and homeless allies given shelter in the dangerous cold dark of night." There was only us, only we, but then there was just her. He examined Fate's face for a second, then took another bite of food and chewed. After he had swallowed and taken a sip of wine, he sighed, "If the will of people and the universe only followed a path like a work of fiction, we would be in a different place and wouldn't have to worry that she will reject my very existence or worse feel like we've led our people into another underground."

"We need more than a plan for Harr'Ikke, we need a plan beyond this entire situation...War looms over the sector again, I've read the reports, I've seen the signs. She has to want to come home, and have a purpose to come home to,"
he said, "So...I wish I had the plan you've asked me for."

She took a piece of chicken from the plate when offered, chewing on it idly as she listened to his words, his thought process on Harr'Ikke and what he thought may or may not work. A smile worked across her face as she saw he had put thought into it and nodded as he finished.

"Force her, and she is liable to try and kill you. She is stubborn, very stubborn, that much should be evident with her refusal to return so far. But she cares for us, for her people... And she will care for you. But you can not push her, if you do, you will drive her away." She paused and took another bite of the chicken after she had pushed the bowl back to him. Up on a screen between the two of them, her eyes searched over the image of the woman caught in the video.

"We've stopped the broadcast, it never aired on public channels, at least not here. We've blocked it from everything under our control so as to not spread panic or flooding her with stuff from our people... But no doubt others have seen it, including the cats and Nepleslia. So if we are going to do something... We need to do it soon. Something that can show that we know she is there, and that when she is ready she can return to us."

She took a breath and sat up, eyes staring at the screen. Instead of the protector's hard eyes, Sen'Ythy's face softened, like a mother looking on her child.

"She... She does look well. A little battered, but she looks well."

Aris'Taeus sat back in his chair, the carved wooden piece was more comfortable than it looked. "We can control what happens in our immediate vicinity but people talk and people who are not ours do not understand us, no matter how good of people or friends they are," he said, then motioned towards the screen. "The Nepleslians are no doubt, as I said before, set on her becoming a Senator, and they know nothing about me yet which means if they have seen it their ambition might get the best of them. They're industrious, determined people that are rather bull-headed when it comes to politics," he said with casual observance.

"I suppose the first step is to find her, quietly of course. There is no need to cause a ruckus when we don't need one. Secure us a ship, a small trusted crew and we should leave soon, and do this the right way. Every day we're here we are a step closer to our people finding out about me, or our new allies finding out. If something happens they do, I doubt getting away for even the most personal of missions will be impossible," he gave his first true order. For once since it, all began he was stepping up beyond the curtain they had drawn to cover up his existence until they were ready.

Aris'Taeus pushed his plate forwards slightly and Maj stood up and cleared it away from the table. His attention remained focused on Fate, "As for a plan, have some of our ships start sweeping northwards. If we're going to choose a direction to go after here, it should be away from the Cats and away from this war that is brewing in the galactic south," he said, sure it was all a risk but what was not? That could be just the thing to get Destiny's attention, a plan for what was after 'here'.

Sen'Ythy listened to him and nodded along to his sentiments. Grateful as she was to the Nepleslians and their protection as they rebuilt and tried to recover from yet another incident for the Lorath, she couldn't help but feel put out every time the government tried to enforce something. She understood the absorption of their military, the usage of their fleets and everything else yet... It still left a sour taste in her mouth. But there was more good that had come from the situation rather than bad and for that reason alone, the Fyunnen woman had held her tongue.

"I will see to it immediately. Do you wish Mithki to accompany us? She is the one who will replace me when I feel her ready. Perhaps she might be good to have along?" She had offered the idea more as a chance for the man to get used to the woman, and vice-versa, yet it was a legitimate question at the same time. Headed into space with a small crew, it would be good to have the woman along as well. More protection, and a chance for her to get valuable experience and time with the royalty. She pulled from her hip a small communicator and tapped away for a few moments to get the transport info moving quickly, sending messages to crew she knew could keep their mouths shut and pay attention to their own business rather than raise questions and poke their noses where it didn't belong. She opted against something to large, instead moving for one of their smaller ships that would be quicker and less crew to field.

"Preparations have begun for transport. I have them getting a ship ready with supplies and personnel so when we are ready to move, we can. Should we reach out to Origin to see if we can't find where they are now? Ease our own search and go straight to the point? I am sure they aren't completely dense to who they have on board, I would be shocked otherwise."

Aris'Taeus adjusted his posture in the chair as Sen'Ythy spoke. He had already reviewed Mithki's dossier and file; he had several times wanted to say that Sen'Ythy should return to her old position instead. "I feel like the deeper this goes, the harder it will be for me to stay out of sight. Bring Mithki along if you think she can handle it," he said and gave way for the new caste leader to make her mark. "Why don't you bring her by to see me before we leave?" he asked, curious to actually engage with this student of Sen'Ythy's fully before they made this trip together.

The High Priest silently cursed the fact his new ship design was still in it's beginning phases, it would have been a perfect opportunity to see what the vessel could do. He was passionate about a new future for their people, a new direction that would paint them with a new face across the sector. Maj returned and continued to clear the table, her tail swished slowly back and forth as she was careful not to interrupt her Master or his guest.

"Contacting Origin, if they don't know she's there could be the beginning of a new storm for us. They seem to like media exposure, I think if they knew she was there they would have used her more in their video or even made a public statement by now. If we alert them to her presence, they could just announce it to everyone," he said as he considered their options, "...Also, our communications may not be so private here. We should depart first, at least then we know our communications will not be compromised. We can try to see if we can find someone at Origin who can handle a little discretion and assist us." It was frustrating, the feeling they had to be on such alert and always have an eye over their shoulder, the universe was a dangerous place.

Maj cleared the serving bowl away and wrapped the contents up and set them in front of Sen'Ythy, her eyes kept the floor and held in a respectful pose. Aris'Taeus looked across the table and said, "Now you have some for later...Oh, and Sen'Ythy, what class of ship has been selected for our trip? I would like to familiarize myself with its specifications before we leave."

Sen'Ythy sat with elbows on the table, her hands in front of her face as she listened to Aris'Taeus. She nodded and looked to the side, using her cybernetics to send a message to Mithki to join her in the small dining area. She was sure the woman could handle the post, how she handled the news of a man slated to become the High Priest of the people, someone not born through natural means would be telling though.

"A Raptor Class ship. The Lo'tok, if it pleases you. I figured that would be the best ship for us to take. Something that will give you and the Xiaah comfort, yet still be apt to protect itself while out on this mission with no escort. This way we can be protected, and the Xiaah won't be upset with some smaller ship."

Regardless of how she might carry herself, Sen'Ythy knew better than to think that Harr'Ikke would expect anything but the best. She just prayed the woman wouldn't have any hang ups about being back on a Lorath ship, knowing how the last time she had been had gone...

"Mithki, your presence is required in the dining hall, and your discretion as well. Make sure you excuse yourself, no one is to follow or tag along, and no one is to know where you are going. No one enters this room with you, am I understood?" Sen'Ythy sent a follow up message, figuring it was better to explain and give the woman warning so no one would join her by accident.

In a dark room, a heavy-breathing man rolled onto his back with his wings fluffy and sweat rolling off his lightly muscled body "That....that was amazing" He said as he tried his best to catch his breath. A woman next to him was laying with her hands under her head with her glorious naked body in view. She was not breathing heavy or that much sweaty, but softly smiled "It was ...good" She confirmed to the man as the man looked at his side to her "Let's get going with a new round!" He said excitedly as she rolled her eyes "Don't get cocky, it was not that good" She sits up and stretches her arms a bit as she looked at her side seeing a padd flash as she grabs it.

"Mithki, your presence is required in the dining hall, and your discretion as well. Make sure you excuse yourself, no one is to follow or tag along, and no one is to know where you are going. No one enters this room with you, am I understood?"

Taking a deep breath as she shrugs a bit "Anything wrong?" Her eyes looked up from the padd "Yes, you get out" The man was confused "Now..." He quickly acknowledges the order and gets quickly out of bed grabbing his clothing and rushes out of the room as Mithki leans forward a bit "For f*ck sake..." Shaking her head as she throws the padd on her bed and gets up to get her uniform.

It took her only a good 30 minutes to arrive at the destination, she looked around seeing that no one was around and even had to dismiss her girls to stay back at their position as she enters the room and walked with a fully Lorath military uniform into it "You rang Sen'Ythy?" as the door closed behind her.

"High General Sen'Ythy... High General. By Ifmir woman I am still your leader, remember that." Sen'Ythy smirked as the woman walked in, knowing her penchant for rubbing people the wrong way. She sat a few seats down from another man in the room who she had turned from when the notification that she was almost there had arrived to warn them. From a data pad on the table, a screen had projected into the air, to one side the schematics and rough break down of a Raptor Class ship, the other side a picture of the galactic map with routes planned to various places on the edges of Nepleslian space. The Fyunnen woman let out a small sigh as she eyed her protege up and down before she spoke.

"Mithki, this is High Priest Aris'Taeus Tur'Lista. You will guard him with your life until the day you die, am I understood?" Blunt as ever, Sen'Ythy gave the information as if it were common knowledge, yet there had never been word or mention, whisper even of a new High Priest. The position was hereditary, inherited by the children of the current High Priest and Xiaah upon either their retirement, or more commonly their death, and with the royal siblings either gone in exile like the High Priest, or as far as the public knew, dead like the Xiaah, and the royal children gone with their father, it was plain that there should be no new High Priest. Yet here Sen'Ythy sat with a man she claimed to be the new High Priest.

"Well? Introduce yourself."

Getting another lecture made her look away as it was her way of just listening to her. Letting out a sigh at the word of her new orders as she looked at the High General with questionable eyes, but kept them to herself for now. Whatever this person was, he was upmost important to assign a great military-like herself to babysit him. Turning to the High Priest and given a gentle bow and looking at him "Mithki 'Thunder' Fyunnen, the pupil of ....High General Sen'Ythy to succeed her as Caste Leader of the House of Fyunnen. It is an honor to be able to protect you High Priest" It was not her style to suck up, but it meant something to Fate.

Looking back at her master "What are we going to do that requires my duties to protect the High Priest?" She asked bluntly and not caring much for the sensitivity of the whole ordeal.

Aris'Taeus was very quiet at first, he examined Mithki carefully as she and Sen'Ythy exchanged words. He reviewed the information that was sent to him, and then directed his amber eyes to Mithki again as she introduced herself, "It is a pleasure to meet you, hopefully, you have a good sense of adventure. The Xiah has quite the reputation ahead of her, and surely her return home will be no more mundane than the journey which has navigated her life so far." The High Priest said his piece, it would be up to Sen'Ythy to handle the rest. "One thing..." he interrupted, "Save the names like Thunder for the aliens who are too obtuse to speak our actual names. I don't know who Thunder is, and she certainly doesn't work for me, Mithki does," he issued his first correction to the new Fyunnen leader with no hesitation, but with a smile on his face.

The High Priest may have been born from a tank, but he more than adequately could defend himself and hold his own as well. This General would soon see that she had to work with him, not just caudle and protect him like some child. He gave a nod, having said what he had to, they could go on discussing the security plans for the journey ahead.

Glad the brusque introductions were out of the way, Sen'Ythy looked between the two before she nodded to them both and pushed the screen in front of Mithki.

"We are taking a Raptor Class to pick up a VIP. Did you see the video we recently found on various broadcasts? The Origin promotional video taken on one of their ships for product lines?"

She wasn't sure if she had sent Mithki the video and as such pulled it up and fast forwarded through the video. Eventually, close to half way through she stopped the video to show a woman, taller than the rest, long white hair that disappeared behind the crowds, a pair of small black wings and bright ice blue eyes. She was the spitting image of the supposedly long dead Xiaah of the race.

"We are headed to make contact with her, Xiaah Harr'Ikke." She explained as she looked back to Mithki.

Slowly nodding at the priest as Mithki attention redirects at Sen'Ythy that was talking to her about the primary mission that was going to happen "I thought that he being protected was the mission to get him towards whatever destination it is? Who is the VIP and no I have not..." Without a second to finish her sentence, she looked at the video that got shoved under her and narrowed her eyes. The black wings and ice blue eyes were something that she didn't see a lot and it made her wonder as she looked back at Sen'Ythy as she crossed her arms.

"Call me stupid, but what is so important about her and why are we meeting her?" Mithki spoke trying to fit some puzzle pieces into place.

Aris'Taeus looked at Mithki for a moment, he smiled a bit and said without hesitation, "Stupid." She asked for it after all and he delivered. In this case, he felt it was not without a warrant and he purposely left Sen'Ythy to handle her subordinate while he went to pack himself a bag. He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and Maj followed close behind, the Helashio almost had to scamper to catch up to him to be on his heels where she belonged, her tail swished back and forth through the air as she slowed her pace and lowered her head to walk behind her Master once she caught up.

The High Priest sighed once they were in the private confines of his quarters. He sat on the edge of the bed and stared out the window over the city as Maj set to work getting out his baggage and started to pack for him. "You can talk now..." he said, it was almost surprising that he said it. Then again, who else had he to talk to outside of the few of his own people he had been permitted to speak with.

"D-did you want your formal robes?" Maj asked cautiously, not sure how much exactly he wanted her to speak with other people in the house.

Aris'Taeus stared out over the colonial city, he didn't answer for almost an entire minute. "Yes, I need to look my best for her," he said in reference to his expected meeting with Harr'Ikke. It was finally going to happen, he was getting out of this prison for his own protection and his life finally felt like it was going somewhere. The rest was up to Destiny, literally. He continued to oversee his things being packed as he let Mithki and Sen'Ythy talk in the kitchen.

"You deserved that. You don't know the face of your Xiaah? That is Harr'Ikke Tur'Lista, the thought to be dead Xiaah. Her brother left in the second exodus when most of our people left this place. She was thought to have died several years ago in an ambush? Any of this ringing a bell you dense girl?"

Sen'ythy couldn't help but let out a sigh and rub the bridge of her nose. It took her a few moments to gather her thoughts after the soon to be High Priest had left the room before she looked to Mithki again.

"We are headed to this ship to retrieve the Xiaah, and return with her. We can not let anyone save for the crew know where we are going, and even then they must think this is just a diplomacy mission, reaching out to touch base with Origin on a more personal level. We have to keep our intentions secret, because if anyone thinks we know she is alive, for one there will be people after her, from both us and outside."

She gave a small frown to Mithki as she looked the woman over. Had it been a new Xiaah, a different one that wasn't so... peculiar like Harr'Ikke was, maybe Mithki could handle it better. But the woman they went to find was even more stubborn than Mithki was, which could be a disaster...

"You are going to have your hands full with her Mithki. But you need to understand something about her. She is the Xiaah, she will do as she pleases, you just have to be there to make sure she is safe, do you understand me?"

She sighs a bit at the whole ordeal and looked at Sen'ythy "So we are going to retrieve an urban legend that was confirmed by our own government as death?" Mithki said a bit annoyed as she rubs the back of her head "Alright whatever, I do what is needed and get her out of this Origin place." She pointed out and looked a bit annoyed at her teacher "For the record, I never held myself busy with this political nonsense and am a warrior up front, I took this path because I am willing to learn and be there for my people"

Looking at the door where the priest had left before her own outburst and shrugs "If she will be a hand full, I do what I can to handle it...proper so yes I understand" Mithki took a second to let it all sink in "Anything else, or can I get ready for this journey"

Many Months Later...

Part 2: Here is your "Destiny"

LSDF Redemption's Hand
Raptor-Class Expeditionary Ship
Captian's Office

Aris'Taeus sat on the couch in the Captain's Office, one of the rooms he had taken over since their arrival on the Redemption's hand months before. Another Yamataian year had passed and he had finally found Harr'Ikke. She was due aboard the ship within minutes. When it came to expectations the new High Priest, had only one and that was that Harr'Ikke would hopefully accept him, and accept the new directions the Lorath had taken. They had sent a small force along with the Nepleslians to aid the Yamatai Star Empire in their fight against the Kuvexians, he had opted for a small purely fighting force and had avoided sending political representatives. The High Priest wanted the Lorath seen, but in this case, the only thing he wanted the rest of the Kikyo Sector to hear was that they help quash a threat. It was going to be up to him and Destiny what the future played out beyond that.

Maj, the devoted Heleshio sat on the floor on her knees to his right, the decorative voluntarily worn collar on her neck proudly displayed as she twitched her tail back and forth. As always, she held her tongue when the others were around, their conversations were always more lively in privacy. She knew that he was tense though, his hopes were so high for this future and the risk to him was everything.

"Bridge, can you get me an update on the ships we sent with the Nepleslians?" he requested. Something to keep his mind busy until Harr'Ikke arrived.

LSDF Redemption's Hand
Bridge

The response came back from the bridge simple and concise from the voice of a male. While no video came up, a simple "Lit'Ti'tolk" showed up. "Current forces are on the outskirts of the system. They were told by the Nepleslian command to not engage... High General Sen'Yhty is not happy to say the least sir." It wouldn't be tough to hear the smirk in the man's voice as he spoke the current situation, which would lead Aris'Taeus to take an educated guess to the man's caste, which would probably be a New Tur'Listan, the Occhestans as they were once known. That said, a flood of current fleet status was sent to the High Priest as he awaited his guest.

LSDF Redemption's Hand
Shuttle Bay

Very few of their people, much less anyone on the ship currently, would ever dream of daring to rush the woman who paced the bay back and forth. It felt... wrong. All of it, every second from when she had been contacted, the stares and looks from her crew on the Karakoram... She knew she couldn't go back there anymore. She wouldn't be treated the same... Just when she was starting to get along with people. She was sure by now her name would even find it's way out to the Exodus fleet, the ones that had found her and brought her back to life all those years ago. She let out a sigh as she stopped for a moment and looked down at the clothing she wore, the painful familiarity of it, the feeling of pomp and circumstance of her position, something she knew she needed...

Tight bandages wound around her feet and partially up her legs to just below her knees, a pair of pants met where the bandages stopped and poofed out a bit to give her a baggy look. Her arms were on full display as she wore a tight white sleeveless shirt with a vest that was adorned on the back with the symbol of the Matriarchy. Her hair, as always, was done in it's thick braid that brushed the floor, the streaks of red green and blue vibrant and fresh before she had left. It had reminded her as she looked at it of the loud mouth from the Karakoram, the one that had called her "Colgate Bitch..." and idly she had the ship's computer start to find out whatever she could about the woman and more importantly how to track her down and contact her.

But that would be for later. For now... She needed to get settled in, to figure out what to do now that she had been tracked down and dragged back basically. She knew eventually this day would come, that they would find her and call for her return. She had just hoped it would be longer than it had taken. But at this point that was neither here nor there. She gave one last shake of the head before she turned and headed out of the bay toward the captain's quarters. Head held high, shoulders back, Harr'Ikke, the Xiaah of the Lorath people, leader through the second exodus, the moon fall, first contact, and so much more, had returned to her people. It was clear not everyone on the ship had known of Harr'Ikke's return, that much was for sure as some stopped and stared openly at the woman, but even as they did they quickly came back to proper mind and bowed to their leader.

It was a bit of a hike, but he would know of her arrival before the doors slid open with how quickly word spread through the halls, yet for all of his research and videos... As her form entered the doorway and filled it, she would seem far bigger than she should have. Whether that was simply from the personality she exuded, or her mere presence she exuded was for anyone to guess, but there she stood before the man that had been created to be her counter part. The small upturn of her chin as Ice blue eyes bore down on him from a slightly darkened face, for his smooth skin unmarred by injury so far... Harr'Ikke's was a far far cry from how it had been all those years ago. Scars and cuts covered her arms in places, scars on her face from the day her ship had been ambushed, even now Sen'Yhty would be hard pressed to see the old Xiaah, much less would she be the same that videos had shown Aris'Taeus who Harr'Ikke had been years ago.

For now she waited, silent and watching of the man that sat in her quarters, the one she had gotten the barest of information on before her old friend had to cut the feed. She waited for him to make the first move, to measure his worth as her new brother...

The stories of the Xiaah, the recordings, and the rehearsals were all garbage. It meant nothing when it came to when the actual day that had come. Aris'Taeus was not Tomoe, he was not the High Priest that maybe the Matriarchy had expected as a whole. He was a tactical man who had achieved what he had through a very patient understanding, planning, and the use of loyalist Lorath who were able to see what he considered to be the big picture. They had been on Nepleslia's back porch now for longer than he would have liked and the report from the front lines that they had an unhappy General who was being forced to sit, play politics instead of the fight was the aggravation for the day. There was nothing ungrateful about it, it was about what they would be remembered for - being remembered was what was important after all.

There was a chance this could all go badly, over a year's worth of learning and preparation could go out the window and he could very well go out the airlock - yet that was not what worried Aris'Taeus, what worried him was the silent question that had lurked since they found her. Would Harr'Ikke even want to be home? Those who fled the universe had left worlds unusable, the reputation of the Matriarchy was in a type of silent repair. As much as he and their General had discussed, it was purely discussion. It would be up to them to decide. If there even was them.

Destiny was supposed to be his mate, his sister and this is what he was made for. He wore his best robes, elegant and colorful. Maj had been ordered to remain in the Captain's Office while he went to meet his fate.

Aris'Taeus reached for the door chime, he realized there had already been a lapse. The Xiaah had been taken to the Captain's quarters, where his things had already been unpacked for their months of time in space. She was in his room, this changed his plan of approach, not that he had any chance to change it. Rather than the door chime, the door just opened in front of him, and there she was just paces away. He spoke up with confidence and carried himself with the same upright grace he had done so through the entire process of learning, "Greetings, Harr'Ikke. I hope your flight here was pleasant. I'm High Priest Aris'Taeus, I am the one you've heard about good or bad. Mind if I come in? It would be good for us to catch up and get to know each other."

She was no delicate flower, at least that was what he had expected. His eyes scaled her form, in careful recognition of his own imagination he smiled.
