RP: Yome Ismâopate [Mission 1.1] Whom fortune favors - Recon

La'tâ took a moment to think about that and then began to walk over and pick up a rifle as well as 2 spare magazines as well. "I do not intend to do much fighitng, but better to be prepared" She replied to Keyul. After hearing the XO over the comm line she stepped out to head to the rest of the group "I apologize sir."

the comm button stuck the first few times he tried to depress it, but finally after some convincing in the form of hitting it Meni got the channel open. "Here.. Umm live... Following," his mech stumbled out behind La'ta. It was most ungraceful and it was hard to tell if it was going to stay upright the whole time, but it was managing to move and follow.

The channel never closed and a steady stream of comments and curses came from Memi, as he attempted to keep control of his mech.

Across the communications channel came the following. "Watch your communications protocol Kynlumu'a. We are in tactical operation mode. All communication is to be compressed before transmission. No open mics." Toidorno said across the channels, a bit of irritation in his vocal pattern.

Keyul moved into position and gave La'tâ a thumbs up at her decision. He opened the channel for the lower ranking folks. "Memi, switch your comm to tac mode. You do not want to make the Tin-Toa angry. And if their are Defilers around, you do not want to give our position away." he said in a friendly tone.

La'tâ stuck close to Keyul and Memi for now but looked over the rest of the unit they would be working with, they all probably had more experience than her which would be a relief for the still green Tula. She falls into formation with the other young members. While she did have some group formation practices when she was in training, never anything really beyond that as a group so this would be her first real group activity inside a stako.

With the comments coming at him Memi started fiddling around with the controls again attempting to kill the comms, only a few more seconds of him cursing and growling at the controls before he was cut off mid word.

With a long sigh Mime started off and followed behind La'ta the best he could. It was unsmooth and lacking any coordination but the mech continued to move forward with out to much issue.

Yome Ismaopate:

Murr finished up last minute chores about her sector of responsibilities. She barely missed the call for the crew to meet in the cargo bay. She scrambled through the ship, getting lost once or twice.

When arriving, Murr noticed that the others had already started off. She looked around, spying the remaining Stako Yanuto. She ran up to it as the remaining crew was about to put it away. It was Goa'ismâ (Scout) model.

She motioned for them to help her get into it. They rolled their eyes and gave her a ribbing for being such a laggard as they helped into the Stako. She nodded her thanks as she powered it up. Doing a quick systems check as she moved to get extra weapons and ammo that remained in the open weapons locker.

With a wave to the crew, she left the ship, looking about for the patrol that just left. Spotting their trail on the ground, Murr took off at a good pace to catch up while conserving energy of the Stako.

She was thankful having an older brother who took her to show off his Stako when his ship visited Ikatue for Remembrance Day. She sent a mental call out to her brother in thanks for letting her play with the Stako as a kid. And when his ship was in port and allowed visitors.
As Murr operated her Stako, she plugged in her datapadd that had prepared responses she could key to transmit vocally, by punching in an alphanumeric code.

She spotted them up ahead progressing slowly. One was having troubles in operating their Stako. Taking her place as tail end Charlie, providing rear security.

The group of Stako Yanuto moved across the open terrain without difficulty. The ground was covered in thick tall grass and there were copses of trees dotting the region. In places were deep craters. The craters were caused by pieces of the moon that fell to the surface. The team came upon a herd of approximately fifty Lamingoakas. The outer animals watched the approaching exo-skels, but the rest of the herd continued to graze unfazed.

The group was slowly moving up an incline and when they came to the crest the Tin-To'a called a halt. There was a steep slope downward before them, and at the base of it a number of damaged buildings. These were not clan buildings but rather ones built by the Defilers of the Dead. The location appeared to be some sort of complex, perhaps military in nature.

"Okay, this is the location we have been assigned to check out. I doubt that there is anything here to worry about. But the Tin-Ta'a wants us to check it out. Some of our flitters flying over this area have seen signs of activity. So keep your eyes and ears sharp.

Sâvyjo, you are to approach the installation from the north, the rest of us will approach from the south. Use your Stako Yanuto sensors and keep your wits. Your weapons are loaded with live ammunition. Do not fire until you are sure of what your target is, and that it is in fact hostile. Sar-Keyul, you are in charge of your group. "

"Understand Tin-To'a, take the others to the north side of the installation. Check out the structures, do not fire until target identified and hostile." Keyul replied to the XO.

He took a step forward, switched to the channel for the Sâvyjo. "Mime, La'tâ, Murr follow me, there appears to be the remnants of a road that we can follow down this slope and to the installation. Watch your step though this slope is fairly steep in placed." He then started walking down the broken road.

Murr quickly pressed the transmission button twice to break the static to acknowledge Keyal as she scanned the area and taking a quick but effecient look at the road they was about to traverse. She scampered her scout ahead and planted herself in front of Keyal, hoping to stop him, as she tapped in an alphanumeric code on the pad she had brought. Hoping that her message appeared on his screen.

Let me check for mines and other ordinance before we get in a world of hurt, Estemed Hunt Leader. Murr.

Being familiar with the Stako, she moved the Stako onto all fours and used the scanners to pick up the chemical compounds of explosives that the Defilers liked to use for their explosives and mines against armored vehicles.

It took a few moments for Mime to work up the confidence to start down the path towards the facility with everyone else. He was truly out of his element. He got his mech moving slowly and followed behind Murr. It was tempting to just tuck in tight behind some rocks and wait for everyone else, but he wouldn't disrespect his clan like that.

He was doing well as they worked down the broken road, with a light smile he continued forward until the mech placed a foot down on a bit of loose rubble and started to slip.

La'tâ nodded inside her stako to the Tin-To'as orders even though no one could see it. Her sensors were already all running, at least the important ones. She had things like geological scans on stand by. She followed after the group of Sâvyjo lead by Keyul. She kept herself in the back of the pack since she was a non combatant, and so she could keep an eye on everyone. She was soon thankful that she did move to the back to watch as she noticed Mime's stako begin to slip. The Tula moved her own mech over and grabbed him to help him keep his balance.

Murr started down the barely there road, on all fours, looking like a blood hound sniffing out the trail as she scanned for the chemical and energy readings that would signal an explosive device or an IED that would harm the patrol she was with. Her eyes darted over the screens reading them as she progressed slowly down the hillside. Once she cleared an area, She would mark the area she just checked and cleared so the rest could follow safely after her.

Keyul resisted the urge to cover his face with his hand when he watched Murr put her Stako into an all fours position. His attention was then caught by Memi's Stako stumbling. Since Memi had been having issues from the onset of the mission, he figured this would go badly. He was pleasantly surprised when La'tâ grabbed the staggering Stako and help to stabilize it.

"Good team work La'tâ. That's the way to watch your fellow team member's back." he said across the comm.

Wtih the Stako slamming back into a stable position Memi frowned before sending a private "thank you" to La'ta. He knew that this all just meant he was going to be doing a lot more practice in the damned machine. Even more carefully Memi continued on down the path behind Murr, he was determinant to make sure that the whole operation was recorded.

Murr continued on down the barely there road, as she continued to scan for explosives as continued to mark the cleared areas. She made good progress as she went along. She hoped that rest of the team was doing okay behind her as she did her job.

Once Memi was situated back on his feet La'tâ gave a soft nod, though the motion was not relayed through the Stako. "I will stay in the back of the pack and monitor everyone." She spoke across the comm system and then she got a message from Memi. "Don't worry, just try to relax and move smoothly. It takes some getting used to but the Stako will take care of the details." she replied in private.

The rest of the descent went without incident, once on level ground, Keyul looked around, "Let's spread out into a diamond formation as we approach the installation. I do not want us bunched up so that a volley from a hostile hits us all. I will take point. Murr your on my left, and Memi you are on my left. La'tâ you follow behind me. Keep your sensors active and your eyes sharp. I would not put it past our superiors to decide to pounce on us to test us. So let's not make it easy for them."

Murr doubled clicked the transmit button in acknowledgement. She moved to the right as Keyul doubled assign two to the left, making it easier for Memi to take the position of Honor to their Hunt Leader. Scince she was on all fours, it made her harder target and not as easily seen. Plus if Memi had to shoot to the right, there was a better chance of not being hit by him.

Murr Flitted through brush at an easy pace set by the Keyal, their Pack and Hunt Leader. She still scanned the area for explosive devices. It was just harder to scan as the scanners pick up the explosive ordinance of power armor? Mech of the Keyal. She scowled, having no choice, did the slow count to calm down. She widen her scanning to include life forms and mechanical items.

Being lower to the ground, her scan range was shortened at least hopefully to cover the unit and still provide covering scans of her sector of watch, which Murr dutifully recorded along with vids to look over after the mission.

She smiled at remembering her elder brother telling her to make recording of each event, patrols to go over to improve her performance. Look for things she missed while being on patrol. Information was power enhancing to strength and skill. Just as being centered in the martial arts. Mind, body, soul made the warrior complete.

Murr silently chided herself to focus on the job at hand. She wished she didn't have the power armor so she could commune with the plants of this beautiful world she traveled through. She bared her teeth to force herself to focus and quit being such a little care free female of youth. She had others who depended on her to be focused. Not the selfishness of youth.

"Understood" responded the young Tula when she heard her orders. La'tâ was fine being in the back, even if other clansmen did not appreciate it because they would be the last to see combat, this put La'tâ in a better position to keep an eye on everything. Since Murr seemed to be focusing on detecting any traps or such she decided that now would be a good time to bring up some secondary sensors and start collecting geological data as well as scanning and cataloging the flora and fauna. After all it would be good for future reference to have a detailed list of it all.

After making sure those sensors were working properly she pulled up a wide range radar and made sure the other squad's signals there. "I'll keep track of the other squad's location on radar. I don't have the equipment to get more than just their signals though, so I can't tell you how they're doing."

Murr did her job and when realizing she had drew even with Keyul. She would stand up on two legs for the height as she wide scanned the area till Keyul pulled ahead to the proper distance. The area around them scanned safe from explosive devises.

She tried to commune with the nearby plants, hoping she could through the Stako. It would be interesting to learn about the area.

Murr seeing Keyul get the proper distance, she would drop to all fours and resume moving forward. She would occasionaly look back at La'ta to see if she was okay and still with the group.

Unfortunately the thick armor of the Stako precluded the Tula from being able to connect with the plant life. However as the group proceeded towards the structures it soon became apparent that someone or something had been coming and going from the location. There were at least three paths worn in the tall grass. Thermal imaging was showing at least two distinct areas with significant heat signatures.

Keyul stopped for a moment and conducted an emission scan. He was not getting any indication of generated power, or transmissions. "Curious, someone has been leaving and returning to this place. But I'm not getting any indication of power or transmissions. Let's proceed to the heat source to our left. Eyes wide people." he sent to the team.
