RP: YSS Ryūjō Mission 2 - Ambush at Home

Errowyn went with the toss out of the Hanger Bay, under the dropping blast shield. She rolled into the corridors wall opposite from the now closed Hanger blast doors. She just hoped that her Kawarime wasn't damaged to badly.

Shuttle Bay #5

Fyodor didn't, and couldn't, just wait and watch the blast shutters close, so he spun and charged off again, roaring, and likely dislocated something in the process. It didn't matter, at least not yet. The launch bay was clear by design, so that its craft could launch and land in any conditions without much chance for mishap. All the good cover was on Deck 5, in the maintenance bay above. Even the Kawarime itself should have been, but instead the lift had been lowered with tools and parts for repairs.

There was no time to raise it, no time to climb, and in his current state, Fyodor couldn't operate the controls, either way. He tried to run up the wall. Even though the gravity switched to zero. The forcefield over the hangar bay entrance went off at the same time, and half a second later, all the lights, except for one in the Kawarime, and those in the bay above. The air nearest Fyodor took a moment to make its bid for freedom, first with a whistle, then with a roar. Fyodor had pushed himself away from the wall, not intentionally, and found himself going with the flow. He'd passed into the shadow of the Kawarime, just when it happened.

There should have been a loud 'boom', but the air was too thin and too busy by now to be distracted by such things. It seemed Fyodor's eardrums would remain intact for another few seconds. The wave of heat and the loss of pressure were bad enough, though, and given that was the last he would see of the enemy in this engagement, the impulse to reach an extraction point had passed, and he suddenly felt very tired, for very many reasons. The tumbling Kawarime's cockpit glass collided with his forehead at three or four meters per second, but in all honesty, he was fairly certain he'd already passed out by the time it hit.

Deck 6, Corridors
An odd thing happened as Errowyn was watching the blast shutters. After a couple of seconds, the notification came on that the hangar bay was exposed to vacuum, though there hadn't been an explosion yet. Then it came. Errowyn had almost recovered from her sudden escape--or rescue, or whatever it was--when the deck beneath her suddenly rocked, like it was trying to ride a wave. There was a rebound, and more terrible sounds echoing across the ship, and the lights flickered.

One source of clamor, nearby, was that the sudden jolt threw Sandr from her feet, and caused her to fly headlong into the panels at the rear end of the ship without making a turn to pass by the laundry facilities. She left quite a dent. The Heisho called out, quite far away, "You okay over there?" from somewhere around the corner in the other direction. Sandr's response wasn't intelligible to Errowyn.

The captain's voice echoed over the intercoms. "All boarders have been neutralized! We just received their parting gift: They mean to delay our pursuit. All Star Army technicians, it's time to prove to them we're not so easily foiled. All teams move to damage control on Decks 4 through 6. The simulation bay, hangar bays #1 and #5, and the AMTC have been destroyed, but these are not mission-critical systems. Check our power connections and let us take the fight back to them. Infantry, pilots; it is time to regroup. That is all."
