After celebrating the arrival of the new year on Hanako's World, Shosho Hanako dispatches the YSS Eucharis to the former Mishhuvurthyar Territories from the First Mishhuvurthyar War to investigate SAINT reports of Kuvexian envoys attempting to infiltrate the local trade communities. The first stop is Wisteria Starbase, a remote outpost near the Yamataian border...

The shimmering teal outline of the Plumeria-class gunship Eucharis haded to reveal its figure, covered in patchy gray and red paint of varying ages and levels of fading. She was a ship with a lot of history and combat scars, most of which had been fixed. The ship groaned and creaked as it returned to real space and the lights dimmed insteadily for a moment before everything turned back to normal. Hanako, a brightly-colored, young-ish, yet seasoned admiral with iridescent teal hair and golden platters for eyes, stepped out of her captain's cave and onto the bridge.

"Scan for starships in the area," Hanako immediately ordered. There were no other Star Army ships in the sector but several civilian ships were present. "Contact Wisteria Station," Hanako ordered. But for some reason the station did not respond to hails.

Ikigai Majime's hands remained behind her back while she looked at the console of mission ops. Her hands moved to points at her side as she turned to face the Shôshô fully to speak. As she did, her vision shifted from Hanako to the main screen and back again.

"Would you like an away team assembled to further investigate the station?" Majime asked, but had not finished. "Conversely, the civilian ships may yield answers to careful questions."

"Yes, Hanako replied. We can send a shuttle over there. We should investigate the station with our sensors first."

Majime nodded to the Admiral as she spoke, "I will lead the team over."

The XO said in her mind to the MEGAMI, "Charisma-sama, please alert members of the power armor team as well as Ittô Heisho Victory to suit up in power armor and that I will be in the bay shortly with more information. The Heisho will be our pilot and is welcome to warm up Telemachus VI if I leave her waiting."

She moved over to helm, "Sagara-hei, if you wouldn't mind. I believe a wide range passive scan would yield some results while utilizing the TQP-RDD. If you could try that out." She stayed nearby, looking discreetly at his console.

Arria stifled a yawn moments after the warship had returned to its normal plane of operation, wiggling in her seat to get into a more comfortable position - over the course of this leg of their journey, the Elysian woman had been getting pretty stiff sitting in the same chair all the time; it didn't feel all that great. Small, safe pulses of energy traveled through the aging Plumeria, briefly checking some of the weapons for potential malfunctions that could happen during the faster-than-light traversal - without actually powering them up for a fight, of course. All the solid munitions had been tested beforehand, and their physical operations made them... A lot less sensitive, effectively.

One large, fluffy wing idly twitched, the snowy feathers of the grey-paneled girl making waves like an ocean as they settled back into place. Her ambery-golden eyes blinked slowly a few times, doing a quick check-over on the various civilian ships moving about. Odd that the station's silent, but nobody's trying to contact us from out there... You'd think at least one of them would ask for us to save a pet or something.

"Captain," the disembodied voice of the ship's MEGAMI computer AI, Charisma, began speaking. "I am detecting that the computer for the starbase has been manually entered into a sleep mode, which may be limiting the station's ability to communicate effectively. I can attempt to reactivate the computer remotely if you like."

"I can do it," Hanako offered, pulling up a volumetric screen showing a text-based console. "Why would someone want to shut down their computer?"

"Hai Taii, running passive scan now for additional details.", Kai Sagara answered as his right hand quickly moved to the controls to his side console. Digits were swift to adjust settings as he initiated the scan.

Personally, something very off to the Minkan, finding himself tense despite the very comfortable chair. He sadly felt his gut usually almost never proved wrong, and the feeling told him now would be no different. He flexed his hands on the controls, his eyes watching all the displays for even the faintest sign of trouble. His thoughtful mind already had numerous maneuvers in mind for if the aether bolts began flying from whichever directions.

Hanako could sense something wasn't right as well. "Begin prep for hyperspace fold," the Shosho ordered. "Set coordinates for outside the Ukmirt system and keep it on standby. Battle stations. Set condition two throughout the ship. Raise shields and take us into the station's weapon range and see if it's hostile. We can take a lot more damage than a boarding shuttle and I want to make sure our away team will make it."

Scan results came in, showing that the station had its shields up and its weapons armed but not targeting anything, which probably meant the station was on some sort of elevated combat alert status for some reason.

Majime had found a seat in preparation for a fold and now turned slightly to look towards the center of the bridge, to Hanako.

"Anything from the station's computer, Shôshô?" Ikigai Majime asked as she ran through the information that was present from the scans in her mind.

"Not yet," Hanako said. "This also means the station probably will not shoot back. We can target their shields only and disable them without harming the station, then we can send in our away team."

Ikigai Majime nodded as she looked to the weapons operator and spoke. "Please carry that out, Smith-hei."

She crossed her arms and set her jaw as she looked at the readouts. She scanned over the power armor bay and spoke to Charisma. "Charisma-sama, please give a second alert to anyone on the away team that is not suited, yet. Thank you."

The MEGAMI alerted those that needed to be suited with a reminder.

Arria nodded, hands coolly and professionally directing aetheric energy through the Plumeria's veins. "Hai. Let's knock on their front door." Photonic cannons and aether plasma slammed into the station's potent shielding, whittling it down consistently; using manual aiming, the white-haired Elysian made sure to glance her shots off of the expanded shell of energy; shots that broke through either hit nothing at all, or would be so far from any critical systems to do notable damage - assuming the heavy armor didn't take the shots that hit, anyways.

She withheld from using the primary weapon of the Eucharis, with a pretty good reason: a direct hit past the shields would be catastrophic! For the station, anyways - and to an extent, the whole reason the Eucharis was here in the first place. Even without the massive weapon, the Eucharis's smol gunner steadily reduced the station's barrier to almost nothing - It wouldn't be able to stop a stray LASR shot, let alone a full MINDY team trying to get inside the station. A fireworks display like this was bound to attract attention - Arria hoped that there weren't already reinforcements rushing in to chase the gunship off.

Armor Bay.

Matsuvo had just finished suiting up, with his currently favored loadout being the one he had selected. He had set this one up so that he could switch weapons on the fly and be able to cover his teammates by putting pressure on the enemies they were facing. Speaking of his teammates, he appeared to still be the only one down in the troop bay. He figured it'd be best to alert the bridge crew about this so that they were at least aware that he was all they had to work with at the moment.

He tapped the side of his Mindy's helmet to activate his radio, a somewhat unnessecary gesture, but it made sense to him nonetheless. "Bridge, this is Shinomori-Heisho. It appears I'm still the only one down here in the armor bay, and if no one else is ready in time, I may be the only one you've got for whatever plan the Shôshô has."

"Good work, Arria," said Hanako.

"We have limited time until the shields recover so faster is better. You may open the armor bay shutters and exit into space. We will send teleportation coordinates to you momentarily," Hanako replied to Matsuvo, gesturing at her bridge crew to come up with a good location for Matsuvo to appear on the disabled space station.

"Captain, if I may, given the extremely low number of armor units being deployed. May I suggest he enter via maintenance hatch, they are located across the hulls of stations, and are generally the last place anyone looks to use for entry to any craft. As mainly they are just used by engineers for maintenance. he should encounter the least amount of resistance through such a route, and those in a station are not nearly as cramped on a starship." Kai offered from his position at the helm.

"Very well. Please do it," Hanako ordered.

Wisteria Station

Matsuvo appeared in a flash of light and in an airlock filled with hot, smoky air and an incredibly loud reverberating bell-ring noise that lingered for several seconds. The airlock was lit by harsh red emergency lighting. Through a small window he could glimpse into the interior of the station which appeared to be irregularly lit. Also of note were bloody hand prints on the wall across from the airlock door, and chunks of flesh scattered around the floor, a which looked like a person had violently exploded from the force of a large blast.

Wisteria Station

Matsuvo hadn't been expecting to encounter anyone when he first got onto the station. Now he had teleported in to find himself in a gory mess. He looked around for a moment before moving forwards cautiously, taking stock of his surroundings and sending NSBs to scout just a few seconds in front of him constantly. He raised and checked the ammunition on his shotgun

Something didn't feel right about this, and being the only member of the boarding team, he wasn't keen to move too quickly until he had a bit of a better picture of what he was dealing with in terms of opposition. For now, he attempted to look for an access point from which he could access onboard cameras or maps to get a better picture of the layout of Wisteria station and the situation onboard.

Wisteria Station

Matsuvo found a computer access panel on the wall fairly quickly but it only told him the computer was offline and the terminal was on standby mode, and then he was interrupted by blood-soaked, zombie-looking Star Army soldiers coming around a corner grunting, moaning, and shooting at him with NSPs and energy rifles. His armor immediately registered some minor damage to the teleporter unit on his Mindy armor's back as an energy blast happened to hit it.

Wisteria Station

Matsuvo gave a grunt as he noticed the damage indicator. That shouldn't have happened, his shields should have stopped whatever shot hit the teleporter unit. Something was amiss, but Mat didn't have the time to ponder that quite yet. He fired a shot from his shotgun into each of the two closest enemies, fired a burst of shots from the Aether Scalar Carbine mounted to the Kalamari pack on his back into a clump of zombies, and followed up by slamming his shield into another one. The zombie was surprisingly resilient, requiring a few more bashes, and covering Matsuvo's armor and forearm shield with gore that sizzled against his shield that apparently wasn't working quite as well as he thought it was.

For the moment, the room was clear. "Eucharis actual, this is Shinomori. I've run into what look to be Star Army soldiers, but they all look like something out of a zombie movie. They appear to be hostile, something's very wrong here, I'm going to try to find out more, but we may need to-" It was then that Matsuvo's radio put out an almighty screech into his ear, before going dead. "... Consider destroying the station... Oh no..."

Mat then returned to the terminal, attempting to gain access and check to see if there was anyone left alive on the station, as well as look for a place where he could find spare Mindy parts to repair his teleporter and communications equipment. He probably didn't have much time before more of the zombie soldiers started showing up though, so he tried to work fast.
