Hoshi was in a peppy mood as she waded through those in the wardroom until she was towards the starboard side of the ship, underneath the volumetric Hinomaru on the wall. To her sides on the hydroponic walls were bright orange nasturtium and tomatoes growing near one another, as well as a few other herbs. There was a box on a table beneath the crimson emblem with the Mindy 4 at its center as well as a large, clear, circular bowl filled with what looked like water. Above her the gallery seated some of the crew, most of which were attentive now that the captain had arrived.

"We have had our R&R," Hoshi began. "Which was more like responding and resisting than rest and relaxation, but we did what we had to do to protect our own." She looked pointedly at a few, like Gravity and Wyatt, then around the room. She uncovered the lid of the box, "Type 33/C Civilian NSP for everyone present, on my dime. We should never find ourselves in the face of danger without something to light the way. Weaponry is one luminous form of guidance, but not the only one. Having a clear concept of the laws of your nation and regulations of the Star Army helps more than you can ever anticipate." She didn't have to look at Muyomi, the tealy haired and purple eyed Nekovalkyrja knew what she had done.

"After the briefing, please pick up your 33/C NSP from this box," the captain said, closing the lid and walking towards the clear bowl of fluid. "On to the mission briefing, which I will let the Shosa handle."

"Thank you, Chusa," Eden said while her golden eyes scanned the room before they settled ambiguously on the port-side wall. "Many of you were present when we went into a universe, not Ayenee, but the universe ruled by an alternate version of Eve, where we met versions of ourselves that were far from reality. Where we encountered the IYS Kaiyō I."

She breathed out heavily, memories stirring, before continuing.

"This universe's existence is infringing on ours. As one of you can personally attest, they have been working to discover transuniversal technology. That lack of transuniversal technology and their utter dependence on aether, along with the presence of the All, put us on unequal footing and we were able to escape, most of us with our lives."

Eden said without hesitating, now, "But they have managed to create transuniversal gates to slip into other universes and, slowly but surely, they have found us. Probes indicate they have retracted their forces from the Kikyō Sector after what looks to be only one initial scouting mission on their part. Our job is to covertly transition into their universe once more, purposefully this time. Our engineers," she looked to Kikios and the others there, "have done a fine job keeping the old TTD up to date and re-installed her for this journey. We are to proceed immediately after this briefing. Any questions?"

"So I may get the chance to see myself. Be like looking into a mirror. Just two sexy guys trying to make it through life." He said with a chuckle. "So on a scale of 1 to 10, how hostile are our twins going to be?" He asked as he walked over to the box. "Thanks for another weapon, I will put it next to my billy club, brass knuckles and shock collars." A grin crossed his face as he spoke.

At the mention of shock collars, Hoshi's smallest hairs stood one end and she looked like she had eaten a lemon before she heard Eden speak, which soothed her expression.

"We're expecting maximum threat level," Eden said. "We weren't able to escape their grasp without the help of the All, a being or group of beings that had some semblance of control over the IYS universe. They will be the first group we will want to make contact with while there."

Wyatt let out a small sigh as he retrieved the NSP and tested the weight of the gun in his hand, it was only very recently that he found out he may have some level of paranoia concerning clones, having seen three different Marks on one planet within under an hour made him aware of this concern that must've been lurking for some time.

The gun felt as a NSP should and he had no reason to expect it would be any different yet it never hurt to check. "These mirror versions of ourselves, any further advice on what to expect if we run into them?" Wyatt asked as he tucked the gun into his olive type 37a field jacket, he hadn't been on the ship's active roster when it journeyed there last time so he felt it was a valid question.

Eden looked at Wyatt as he felt the gun up and spoke only after he had pocketed it.

"Use excessive force. These are not your friends and are enemies to not be toyed with. They can also receive telepathic communications meant for their counterparts. So, if you want to talk to your honey while we're in the other universe, the IYS one, you should do so on an even more intimate level than telepathy."

Gravity was suited up and ready for action. She sauntered up to the box and retrieved a pistol.

"Another Gravity, huh?" she mused with a smirk, raising the gun and looking down the sights. "She might be tough, but they don't make 'em like me anywhere else."

She flicked on the safety and tucked the weapon away. She was a little weirded out, yet excited about the prospect of flying against herself. A little worried too, deep down. She was a damned good pilot- one of the best- and she showed no mercy behind the controls.

Ah, enough of that. She had this. Whatever Anti-Gravity was like, Gravity was better.

"I was unable to kill my wife's counterpart in the IYS universe," Eden said aloud with no hint of trepidation in her voice, but her index finger tapped at the table near the bowl of clear fluid. "Don't make that same mistake. No hesitation, no remorse. These are not us, like Gravity-heisho has surmised. They are their own people that exist far from our moral understanding."

William walked into the wardroom, and found a quiet corner in the back of the room as Hoshi spoke. When she mentioned that she had bought everyone NSPs, he nodded gratefully to the captain even though he really didn't need it. The Nepleslian was already a walking armory with his cybernetics, swords, and revolvers that he carried at all times. Still, he wouldn't turn down the free weapon.

But once Eden began her briefing, William visibly went rigid. He was one of the people who was trapped in that forsaken universe with the first Kaiyo. It was where he met the person who haunted his dreams. Wila... his female neko counterpart. His jaw tightened and he shoved his hands into his pockets to force them to stop shaking. To be honest, it's where William's innocence was shattered.

Not only that, but he had met the counterpart of Aiko. If he had to face her in combat, he wasn't sure what he would do.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath to calm his nerves as Eden continued to answer everyone's questions.

Wyatt gave a few nods as the shosa continued to speak but his attention was only half focused on what she was saying, the other half was thinking about his counterpart - he realized that being an alternate universe there was a chance he was never conceived yet there was an equal chance that his alternate self did exist and was as ruthless as people made the inhabitants out to be.

Wyatt new himself better than any shrink or crew member possibly could, he was loyal to those crew members until the end - they had done more for him than he could ever describe and he would stand by them. Yet he had this side to him, the self preservation side that kept him going and was the reason he still inhabited the first body he was given upon enlistment - Wyatt feared his counterpart would be more about the selfish side that only looked out for itself and would do anything to survive, scarily enough the marksman could imagine what he'd do in that situation, he'd want out by any means nessisary.

Impersonation was near the top of that list and possibly was the easiest, the minkan hoped like hell he could keep that poor excuse for himself away.

That was a lie, if Wyatt caught even a hint of that counterpart then he'd do anything in his power to end it and remove the threat. "I'll be sure to give them hell, ma'am" he finally replied with after the bout of thoughts, he'd not let an impersonator anywhere near the ship - be it his own or that of a friend.

Mark had been sitting rather quiet, seemingly as if he was some place else. He had been passively listening as the briefing went on. A strange thought crossed his mind, that if they were their opposites, was his basically a female Lazarus. That thought scared him, but if he could kill them. Then maybe just maybe, he could finally face the real monster here. As if snapping back into focus, he stepped up and looked at the weapon as if it curiously was something new.

The concept of it being a weapon just not clicking for some reason. He unholstered his P1 .45, and slid the new weapon into the holster. "Thank you." He said simply before returning to his seat. The walk had help focus his thoughts and mind.

Kyoi calmly walked up and claimed her weapon, putting it in the proper holster position. The Nekovalkyria Service Pistol. A preferred weapon of many a Neko who could not mount up in their armor. The Type 33C simply meant one could not use it for lethal force. It was a ranged weapon. And this agent-when did she start referring to herself like that again? In any case, the Type 33C was a ranged weapon, and a ranged weapon was better than a melee weapon in many regards.

The IYS version of Kyoi was...intriguing. A somewhat fascinating individual, albeit quite dull in her manner-no, Kyoi hated her. That Kyoi was an imposter, a fraud that thankfully was defeated.

Your preexisting notions blind you, Kyoi. It is important to recall what you can about the other. If the IYS version of Kyoi is also a SAINT now, she must be treated as a rogue agent. What can you recall about her?

...Quite frankly, the fox couldn't recall much. The interaction was limited. Then, the data would have to be postulated. If Kyoi were an inverse yet converse, then the contrapositive of herself would be...looser? But, wait, what? It doesn't make sense.

No, it's not a glitch. But, it must be. But it isn't, because it can be resolved. But-wait-how-"Oww..." the little SAINT Neko groaned. A headache? Data not referenceable. Nekovalkyria do not show cold symptoms; they cannot get sick. Anomaly must be repaired.

No, no, it's fine. It's absolutely fine.

Sacre went up and took one of the pistols. She nodded her thanks to the captain for the gift. She wasn't completely sure what to do with her pistol. She figured she would put it with the other knives that she had recieved as gifts. She sat down next to Gravity. As Hoshi talked, Sacre wondered about her counterpart. She wondered if she was in the Army or in a relationship with Anti-Gravity. There were a lot of variables. Sacre wondered if she would have the heart to kill herself. She was suprised to learn that in her heart, she would kill her counterpart without guilt if it came to it. Her eyes drifted over to Gravity as she looked down the table. She might have a hard time killing Anti-Gravity, she wouldn't know until it happened.

Standing around in the back of the Wardroom was a ghost of the past that had been seen several times floating in and out of the maintenance conduits of the docked Kaiyō II for the past week: Anastasia Barlow. The previously discharged technician had been called back on a unique instance by higher command for assistance in the technical preparation of this mission. Of course, it took a friend to convince her to take the position, and this time around she was more than likely being monitored. The half-crew Elysian stood quietly at the back of the room not too far from her loved one, wearing a barely-marked pair of green coveralls. Among other things, she had cut her jet black hair back to a short length again for her temporary service.

Closer to the front of the presentation was someone on the opposite side of the height spectrum: Dokuesei Kaori. The short Nekovalkyrja had seamlessly recovered from damage in the last mission and was carrying with her her usual cloud of fragrance and absolutely outgoing mentality. She had protested a bit to the break, choosing to spend most of her time within the Uesureyan Fields. She just hoped the fruit extracted from the last planet had successfully taken to their new home in the Kaiyo IIs science lab. Back to the realities at hand, Kaori ran the details of the briefing over and over in her head, pondering about this "alternate" universe. Such a thing raised many questions, many of which would take too long to answer in a briefing. Among other things, there was this navy hair band she had been ordered to wear in the Wardroom, which was no doubt drawing some unwanted attention to her almost incandescent looking eyes. At least her resting face could be rough enough to make people pay attention elsewhere. When the time came to walk the front, the little scientist graciously accepted the firearm gift with a shallow bow. "Thank you, Chusa."

Riku paid close attention to the briefing, but began to let his mind wander as another possible version of themselves was mentioned. He had heard that the Kaiyo had travelled to another universe and encountered doppelgangers of themselves, but would he experience it on this mission? And they had, in essence, killed themselves? He liked to think that he would pull the trigger if ordered to, but wasn't there any possibility they could be reasoned with? He couldn't be sure if he would hesitate or not if ordered to shoot his counterpart, but if the other him threatened his crewmates, he could be damn sure he would put himself down without a second thought.

He got up behind some of the others as they collected their weapons, bowing to Eden and the other senior officers that had conducted the briefing before picking up the sidearm, ensuring his finger didn't get anywhere near the trigger and the safety was on, the proper way to carry a weapon out of the holster when not in combat.

As he returned to his table, he couldn't help but think how useless he had been last mission. He had made sure Care was okay, sure, but she could have handled those Kuvexians all on her own. She was a Neko, afterall. Besides assisting her as they boarded, what else had he done? Sit outside of a cave, and watch a door. Oh well, he figured. This was part of the job. Because, usually, it wasn't what did happened, but rather what could happen. It was good to have all bases covered, just to be safe in the instance shit hit the fan. The sidearm caught glimses of the overhead lights as he looked it over. It was pretty standard, similar to his issued NSP, but from what he recalled the 33/C had less lethal capacity. He would be sure to keep it, though, as a reminder of his first mission aboard the Kaiyo. Later, when he had the time, he would do a bit more research and decide whether or not to replace his standard-issue sidearm with this new one or just keep it as a keepsake. Until then he would do all he could to make sure he was ready both mentally and physically to deal with an alternate version of himself.

A quasi audible groan can be heard from Mikael when mention of another universe is brought into the discussion. When he signed up for the SAoY to get away from his discriminating people, alternate universes were but a dream to him. When he got into SAINT and read up on reports available, he though it was neat that they did exist. When he got sent into one, he thought he was being punished for some unknown reason since he can't tell anyone about his experience. Now he gets one more item no one will ever know about.

"Well I guess I will have a chance to commit suicide without committing suicide." Mikael quipped coldly.

“Try not to, commander. I don’t want to have to file that in the database for you.” the little fox jested to her SAINT superior. She seemed to have recovered somewhat, regaining a bit of her regular mood again. “It would be...inconvenient to say the least.” came a much more cold, mechanical voice.

Were crash logs generated from that...mental glitch? Probably not. Focus back on Hoshi, Kyoi. Get to having to kill the other Kyoi when you get there. The fox’s ears waggled about and tail swished around as the exchange happened in her mind, as fast as the digital unit could handle.

Besides, ‘glitches’ were what the medbay was for. Or maybe a psychologist, if she needed one in the first place. Shit, does Star Army even hire psychologists? Records show...inconclusive. Medbay: Best plan of action. Unlikely psychologists are trained in the Star Army; common wartime mental distress is caused by seeing companions die. With Soul Transfer, this distress is alleviated. Few Nekovalkyria as a result suffer mental disorders.

Oh, yes. The briefing.

The classic clanking sound of Chlorate's feet came along as she approached and took a pistol, examining it in her hands. Oddly enough, the weapons operator in-training had never held and used a handheld gun before. Was this what they refer to as irony? But then... where was the iron? Maybe it was a reference to the iron in her metallic body. Wait, how would they have known about her when they invented irony? No, it must've meant some kind of... different meaning for iron.
A worrying thought came into her electronic head. She looked at Hoshi and asked
"Chusa Hoshi... what should I do if I encounter your counterpart, somehow? Or... father's..."

The other grease birdy had been listening to the briefing. She couldn't help but smile, and quietly giggle when Eden referenced the Engineers' work on the TTD, and looked at her. Maybe some kind of... mechanic... pride. On her way to the box of weapons, she pondered what her counterpart was like. A loner? Now that was hard to imagine. Completely insane? The Elysian shuddered at the thought that her counterpart being completely insane seemed more plausible to her than them preferring to be alone. Oh, she was at the NSP container already? Huh... She guessed she did have a tendency to walk fast. Anyway, she took an energy pistol, saying
"Thank you, Chusa," and proceeded to walk to where she saw the most red panel crew. She wondered what she would be doing this mission- maintaining the TTD she presumed, but it was peculiar that they were given Type 33/C's this time. They didn't hand out Service Pistols to all the crew during her previous missions- was this one different? Perhaps there was a danger of Engineering being attacked... These enemies certainly sounded threatening, but she had to admit she was open to a little danger.

This Walter Hyde doesn't sit in the back, as one could point out; he opted to sit at the front. He'd glower at Hoshi, but his orange eyes have this knowing look in them. He glanced at the box of pistols, thinking of why, just why, he's going against his own promise and going out there again. He already knew, though; that dimension the Chusa is talking about was his home dimension, after all. Walter hated that place, and yet he's going back there out of what desire? Did he actually long to come back, see if anybody missed him? Honestly the Minkan wouldn't be surprised if he was replaced by a clone, that version of Yamatai is no better at feeling sentiment than a rock. No one there is capable of love and mercy, let alone even knows what they even mean.

And yet him also being a past resident, he knew that taking any weapons to this excursion would be a bad idea. Sure, if anyone can actually get a hit on those guys, they're guaranteed to be dead; it's just that they also get a massive strength boost and a metric ton of adrenaline pumping through. If he shot at any Imperials, his chances of actually surviving are dropped to zero. Naturally, Walter can't afford to die.

Granted, if there was one good thing about this, it was helping the other engineers install the TDD drive and getting it updated to the hardware of the hyperspace unit. Hard work made into casual fun thanks to their skills, and Walter's own experiences with a TDD system. Now then back to the matter at hand.

"Eden-shosa, what will we do once we arrive in enemy territory? I am assuming we have to do something about those warp gates." His hands gripped into clenched fists as a instance of pure spite bubbled just beneath the surface. "What is the overall mission objective?"

Walter hasn't picked up his gift.

Alastair was taking notes of how to deal with the counter parts. "So no telepathy cybering and we kill first and ask questions later. Easy enough rules to follow. I never liked myself anyways so now I get to take out my anger on myself and not feel bad about it." Alastair was completely serious about not being happy with himself. He was always pushing to be the best and the pressure he put on himself was huge.

The failures of the last mission were still on his mind. Had he done something different maybe they would not have lost anyone. It was like when he was 20 and lost a ship during a pirate raid. While they won the lose of life just was not worth it. He joined Star Army in the hopes of never allowing this to happen again. Sadly fate has a different game in mind and continues to kill off those who he cares about.

Alastair grabbed his new weapon from the box and slipped it behind his back just inside his pants. He had a few ideas of what he was going to do with his new toy.

Arete glanced towards Walter a little bit nervously as she took up her pistol. During one of her training sessions to become a technician - something which was still a work in progress - a conversation had been stricken up, and he revealed the sort of... secret of his origin to her. She didn't think he was with the enemy here; too much evidence pointed away from that idea in her eyes. Then again, she was friends with the man so maybe she was biased or something. She... Was a bit excited, of all things, to meet this... Alternative universe place. At this point she should think about making some sort of joke passport using one of those funny internet sites. That'll wait. She did have a question, though...

"How do we plan to contact this... These... "All"? Or are they likely to contact us first?"

----------------------------------

The redheaded ex-Shan frowned, her delicate hands folded together on the table before her. Her husband and herself had some rather... Interesting relationships with the hyper-imperialist Yamataian universe, or the "Mirrorverse" as she sometimes referred to it as in her head. Sometimes a little bit of good would come along... But mostly a whole lot of bad. A LOT OF BAD. Considering the weight of the twins growing within her stomach, Arbles had to walk up to get her pistol with Mochi's help. Her legs were starting to get a bit unsteady with supporting such a proportional increase of weight, on top of its very forward positioning tilting her forward a lot.

As the couple walked, Arbl's autumny-red hair flowed down and around, its length getting pretty close to the Hime-cut of Eden, but billowing out to the sides in loose curls instead of clean, straight sheets. Most of it was either behind her folded candyfloss wings, or held against her little body by them. After getting her pistol and holding it carefully in both hands, she made for an announcement of sorts: "While many of them look like us, it would be best for you guys to know; The IYS crew doesn't have the same interpersonal relations with each other as we do here on the YSS Kaiyo Two. In fact, I think they might only be together on professionalism rather than interpersonal bonds. We might be able to use this to our advantage..."
