RP: NSS Sledge Mama [NSS Sledge Mama] Ep. 2 - Forged

"Aw shit Sarge, this turned out to be one helluva bad idea coming up here." Mark said sprinting towards the cells and diving into the first one on his right. He rolled to his feet, spun around, and brought his rifle up to bear. "I should have taken the helmet off so now I could fight in comfort."

"If you'd taken your helmet off you'd be a woman now Mark" Sawyer remarked as he went for cover and braced to watch the door from the best hard cover he could get. "I really, really wish I had some demo with me today. I could have set up a claymore at the door for when they do manage to break it down."

Once the pink smoke had cleared Delmar's full attention was on the SAoY Neko. He'd only ever heard of kaserine and its bizarre effects but he'd never actually witnessed it in action. When the clip broke his baseball reflexes kicked in making him catch it with his right hand. Despite his tendency to commonly use his his right hand for things like signature and shooting he'd been a left handed little league pitcher and batter.

"Heh, a perfected grenade," he muttered with genuinely impressed by the cleverness of the lone guard, "well played Neko."

"Get her freed," Delmar ordered the prisoner then switched to radio only, "Ma'am, when we were entering that guard put two in my helmet. We need all the guns we can get on that door. I'm requesting permission to arm the Nekos and guard them. I think I can convince the prisoner to work with us."

Delmar was still standing in the corridor, well aware of the risk and prepared. His thrusters began idling, ready to launch him should the door give way. He would be making a rocket assisted sidestep into cover on the right side of the corridor. Meanwhile his borrowed shotgun began humming as it readied only the left barrel for a spray and moved it to be used with his left hand.

"Just shut up," the captive Neko scowled at Richard. Still resting there on that horrible restraint system, the front flap of her uniform was now folded enough to show the black underwear she wore, as well as some of skin. Seemingly well aware of this, the Taii's cheeks had taken on a red tint. "Stop looking at me like that with your stupid monoeye - it's not my fault I got bigger!" Even with the steady pounding on the door, it seemed like she could care less at this point.

The NMX Neko herself seemed to feel the same way as the squad readied themselves, tossing to them the last of her weapons. "Y-you think sweet words are going to win me over ugly? You got some nerve!" she lightly growled at Delmar's compliment. With a "Hmph!", she crossed her arms like an angry little girl and turned her back on him. "Free the Star Army Neko yourself. And like I'd shoot at my bosses - we're not buddies!" Meanwhile, Ylfa moved again, now busying herself with the barely operational security console. The interface was grown over with bloody muck and mire, but enough of it was exposed for the thing to work.

"Yes! There's just enough power left in the backups - get out of that cell marines!" As soon as they were clear, the Sarge jammed her armored finger into one of the buttons, a force field humming to life on what dregs of power there was left. They'd likely only had a few minutes tops, but it was likely going to be enough given what was going to happen. The squad only had a few options on hand when it came to cover, either sheltering in the cells to the left or right, or huddling behind the security booth with Ylfa. But that meant that the enemy had just as bad a hand, and they were the ones on the offensive. And it was always easier to defend. As the Blond huddled behind the security station, waiting to lean out and take her shots, she paused as the sound stopped.

"Here they come Marines."

An electric blue explosion ripped and burned through the doorway as a hail of non-stop fire poured through the portal. Delmar's energy shields crackled under the assault but held just long enough for his massive cannon to fire off a spread into the flaming darkness. Dodging out of the way and back into cover with his thrusters, the marine traded off more than half his shields to get that shot off. The other marines, in cover, were partially suppressed, but could still lean out enough to get some bursts of fire down the hallway - through the smoke and fire, the enemy moved. Covered in tan colored heavy armor plates from head to tentacle and protected by energy shields, four Mishhu advanced into the brig as a pair of two-squid fire teams. All holding four Service Rifles each with their mess of tentacles, the amount of hot tungsten they sent down at the Nepleslians was obscene to the point that the famous 'Rata-Tat-Tat' of the LASRs all bleeding together into a non-stop roar. Individually anemic in comparison to their HPAR, they were monstrous together.

The back wall behind the marines was absolutely shredded apart by the volume of fire that was being sent their way, the covering flesh burning away as the thin panels glowed hot and melted. With the security booth she was hiding behind literally falling apart, Ylfa still held her ground and blind fired overhead with her HPAR. "Let them get a little closer, and then yank them out one by one!" she hollered over the comms.

The Mishhu were methodically advancing, and were now only 7 cells away.

Lisa raised eyebrows as the pink flew out of the grenade again, she quickled cupped it in her hands to try to take as much of the blast as possible. Except the explosion was very small and actually released gas. Lisa was glad that she was in a closed suit, but those two nekoes would be in trouble, well the Yam neko at least. On the other hand, she heard that nekoes were immune to most poisons and shit. Expect this was very very special gas. Lisa could not help, but to smirk when Yamatai neko turned into super bimbo.

"Well oops," Lisa commented and turned to her comrades. "You lads must be glad to be in suits, otherwise your chest armour would be very tight now and your pants empty." Lisa laughed again and wondered if the NMX neko had anymore of these grenades for later shenanigans in showers.

Before there was time to deal with all that, something started banging at the doorway. Lisa pushed both nekoes into the cell and kneeled by its entrance. "You two stay inside!" Lisa said to the nekoes and turned back to the doorway, her gun read. She released her drone, to watch over two nekoes. Last thing she would need is for those to start killing each other, while she was busy.

"All right lads," Lisa said to the rest of the team. "Orders from sarge stay. Nekoes alive if possible, just kneecap them and kill everything else dead!"

Then all hell started. Four Misshu blasted in, pepering the whole hall with gunrounds. "Well Fuck." Lisa cussed.

"Sawyer, focus in the one to the left!" Lisa then said to her buddy in arms and opened fire at the Misshu on the most left. She aimed at his lower part, hoping to mow down his face and where tentacles were attached.

Max watched the whole situation in amusement as the former prisoner transformed. "Bio-weapons, nasty stuff" thought Max as he eyed the woman. It was an interesting effect to say the least. The side effect of allowing this to happen was even more brilliant. The release of the gas had caused the other Misshu to swarm their position. Drawing them out of hiding as it were. Max chuckled and wondered if this had been the Sarge's plan all along. "Clever girl" Max thought, assuming that it was. At least now they didn't have to bump around in the dark looking for the bastards. He preferred a stand up fight anyway.

As the enemy approached Max took cover best he could. The room didn't offer much protection and the cell in which he was hiding wasn't the best fighting position, but it would have to do. Max leaned his rifle out, aware of the numbing pain in his shoulder and fired away. He listened to Ylfa and knew that getting them away from each other and their concentrated fire was the best course of action. As Max squeezed off bursts, he waited for his chance to ambush one of the squids. After his long, tiring day, he just wanted to punch something.

"I once again picked a very bad position Sarge. They move anymore and I'll have to throw a helmet at them, might make them laugh enough for me to fall back a cell or two." Mark crouched down and inched his way to the edge of the cell, wrapped his arm around the corner and fired his rifle one handed at the squid on the left. He pulled out his knife and armed a salvo of missiles.

Richard had moved himself to the 3rd cell on the right from Ylfa's location at the post. He peaked out to get a survey of what was out there and thought for a moment to himself. Then he remembered something from the training on how to handle these suits. "Everyone, don't stick out too far, I'm gonna fire a few missiles their way. Sarge, if it hits I think you'll have some time to get to a more stable piece of cover." He preped a volley of ten missiles to launch between his two pods at his legs, figuring he should have enough time for that and shooting them all down shouldn't be easy, however he deactivated their targeting system, he didn't have plans to be exposed that long.

Once his missiles were ready he focused his shields mostly to the forward to soak the constant stream of mishhu fire, leaving only enough at the rear so that he wont be taken out by friendly fire. He chuckled a little, knowing what he was about to do and how crazy it was. After taking another breath he was sure everyone had enough time to minimize their exposure so they wouldn't get caught in the crossfire and he lined himself up with the door of his cell and the one across from him. Richard then activated his P/P Plating to push himself across the hall without any thruster fire to give away the surprise. As he crossed the hall he let loose his volley of missiles forwards the mishu, adding in as many shots from his laser array as he could get, before sliding into the other cell, using his P/P system on the other side to cushion his impact into the wall.

Taking cover in the 2nd cell on the right, Delmar's shields had been peppered good. There was a lot more fire coming through that door than he'd expected. As he waited for them to close the distance he could only load a new shell and watch the gunfire beat against the wall.
If only my shields were in better shape he'd send some missiles down range. Heh, maybe if we had real shields like the SAoY we could... Bring the cover... With us, the idea began forming as he watched how the metal walls reacted to the lasers. Always bold he decided to go for it with the hopes that it would inflict massive damage to the incoming Mish and that the defiant bitch they'd captured could see her rescue team get their asses kicked by a 'new' guy.

His IPG training went wild as he drew his bloody chainsaw knife began cutting out a crude 6' by 4' piece of the metallic floor.

(It may be a common practice in construction of buildings, however it really isn't that common a practice in ship building because that weakens the structure of a ship that is supposed to engage in active combat with hostile forces. Hollow walls allow too much of a chance of having a catastrophic ripple failure that could cause a massive hull breach and loss of pressure.)

Meanwhile Sawyer nodded internally to what Lisa said and made use of the built in optics on his HPAR to expose as little of his armor to incoming fire as possible while yet engaging the Mishu on the left with accurate aimed suppressing fire. His intent was to either drive it back or apply a large enough layer of metal to it that when Lisa's shots impacted they would remelt the metal and manage to burn through the creature's shell.

The quick, tart, rapid fire Rata-Tat-Tat of sixteen LASR weapons never seemed to stop, the Mishhuvurthyars' mass of tentacles reloading as soon as a gun went dry, their barrels glowing red from the constant fire.

Despite shooting around the corners with their heavy rifles, the marines managed to score only a few hits. Enemy shields flickered and flashed as the powerful rounds impacted, only to squeeze through the fields before burning a small pit and splashing against the Mishhu armor. Like power armor proper, these troops not only had heavy armor plating, but energy shields as well, which cut their attacks down fast. Even then, tentacles were pierced as the Marines fired, the limbs writhing like worms when they hit the floor - but the Mishhu had limbs to spare.

They always did.

"Then just back yourself into the cell and shove any of those bastards out so we can shoot them!" Ylfa yelled at Mark. Though her cover had nearly half its height cut off, the edges glowing a dull red-orange from the repeated strikes. Her cover was the flimsiest, and already, she'd stopped firing her own rifle, the the floating, armored monsters refocusing their efforts onto the rest of the squad that still fired back. Their own cover started to chip and tear away as sparks flew, the anti-armor rounds biting into the alloys of the cell bulkheads. At the same time, the sound of a revving chain roared to life as Delmar began trying to cut his way out. The blade's whirring teeth bit into the metal underneath, sinking two inches into the alloy like it was nothing but butter before its progress abruptly slowed down - he found himself trying to cut through at least 4 inches of reinforced armor protecting the brig. "Damnit Marine, anywhere else but here!" Ylfa yelled at him. "The Squids think this part's vital and they always put put some armor around places like this!" she spat.

Biting her lip and biding her time carefully, she was hunched over in her position in the middle of it all. The Blond watched as one of her marines leaped across the hallway, his PPG deploying in an attempt to boost his powered jump. Missiles streaked out as his shields were pummeled from both front and back - gouts of sparking, burning metal blossomed across the back of his armor as the rounds pierced the weakend field, the marine sailing by without warning. Smashing into the cell, the marine felt like he was a drum, beat on by a flaming flurry of brutal fists as alarms went off on his suit's HUD:

REACTOR FUEL TANK LEAK - REACTOR FUEL TANK FIRE - TIME REMAINING: 6m 12s

Though the armor saved his life, he was hit hard. With the countdown ticking away with every moment passing, Richard could see fire as he turned his head to look. Like a trio of large blow torches, small gouts of flame could be seen burning out of his suit as precious Tritium-Deuterium hydrogen burned away, the tanks punctured. But his effort wasn't in vain. Two Mishhu had rushed forward, the leading one running smack into the wall of mini-missiles before plummeting into a cell, while the other was staggered by the stray rounds. In her heavy armor, Ylfa quickly popped up, left hand raised as the small PPG rod deployed from her gauntlet - the Mishhuvurthyar trooper as yanked forward as it tried to fly back into cover. "KILL IT NOW!"

At the very same time, Mark could only watch as a smokeball careened into his cell - the drifting veil vanishing, he could see a large, powerful creature encased in armor that was built like a solid shell, with no gaps in it save for the tentacles and small visor holes. Its tan painted hull, burnt and battered with large, red-hot moon craters, rose and turned right at him, bringing the two remaining guns to bear as it charged, a deep, unholy howl reverberating through the cell!

Richard groaned and pulled himself off the wall after crashing into it. His display was giving him warnings of his remaining time till shut down now, which confused him and he looked back, seeing that the suit wasn't messing with him, he was leaking fuel. "Damn it..." He thought for a moment about what to do and made his decision. If he was on the field in the last minutes of the fourth quarter his coach would tell him to suck it up and win the game if he had a broken ankle, this wasn't much different.

It sounded like his missiles worked as well so now was the best opportunity to turn the tides on these Mishhu. He stuck his gun out around the corner of the cell and started firing on the shieldless Mishhu until it was pulled around a corner, hopefully to be taken out and leaving just three. He focused his fire on the Mishhu that was paired with him, sending burst of HPAR fire his way while using the time he would peak out to try to acquire a missile lock.

"This just keeps getting better and better." Mark mumbled, firing several bursts at the mishu before using his ppg to pull the mishu towards him and slashed at its tentacles with his knife. "Did those rockets manage to do anything besides sending this squid into my cell without even so much as a knock?" Mark asked to Richard in a far less than pleased tone.

There was not much time to think, not enough space for missiles. All they could do now was just keep shooting, concentrate their fire and keep the Misshu from tentacle's reach. That was about it. So Lisa just aimed at the Misshu, that Ylfa hit with PPG and Opened fire with all her HPAR had. She also used her PLA, even if it did not doo too much ,it could still help and it would eb enough to cut of tentacles or stuff like that.

Several of the marines quickly poured their fire into the exposed Mishhu as it was stunned and dragged out, its scraps of shields briefly flickering under the hail of liquid metal lances before metal stuck metal and lasers burned into tentacles. Holding her left arm across her neck like a shield, Ylfa stood tall and held her HPAR one handed, drawing their fire. "Don't let him get away! Finish him!" she yelled, her own shields flickering and dying as the exposed Mishhu tried to float back into cover.

For Mark, it all happened too fast - he fired his heavy rifle into the wounded Mishhu, the flashing muzzle lighting up its heavy form. Like a dozen grinding wheels striking its plates, sparks flew in massive fountains as several holes appeared in its armor as the shots penetrated, but it just kept on charging him into a corner with a bellow. Tossing his rifle, the marine quickly drew out his chain-knife while simultaneously activating his PPG, pulling the creature right into him as he slashed down hard. The massive blow quickly tore through several of the lightly armored tendrils, shearing aside one of its rifles as his energy shields crackled from the fire of the last. But the Mishhu tossed it aside. It didn't need it. It was right where it wanted to be.

Right on top of him.

With numerous wounds, it managed to wrap its remaining tentacles around Mark. He could feel it yanking, twisting his arms with horrifying strength, but fail to break his limbs with the remaining vitality it had. Blades bounced off his armor as it began trying to stab and pierce the marine, its aim hindered by the red hemosynthetic blood that rapidly pooled on the floor. A sharp point dragging across the monoeye of his Hostile, his vision blurred in a line as it bubbled and melted, acid lines being traced all across the armor. And before he knew it, a tip plunged down the collar of his suit, burning across his skin as it raked across his ribs, missing his chest cavity and plunging in between him and the suit. Right then and there, he felt liquid horror rush through his veins as his vision became dark and sketchy like a child's book, the Mishhu's half-slagged faceplate twisting into a grinning maw of teeth and metal.

Air rapidly venting out of his suit as it desperately tried to keep the Kaserine out, his ears heard the squeal of over pressured protection as a gleeful "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

At the same time, a pair of marines broke through the Mishhu holding the rest of the forces back, barreling into the brig through the blasted entrance - in front of Liam and his squadmate Kelly, he had clear shots into the backs of a pair of the alien heavy troopers, saw a third trying to retreat into cover, all while his HUD quickly updated to display the icons of a marine and a squid practically right on top of the man a little further back with the rest of the marines holed up at the far end of the brig!

"Shoot the bastards already!" a woman's voice yelled in his ear, Ylfa's armor quickly becoming pitted and holed under the fire she drew.

"Bloody Hell," Lisa shouted as she saw one of the marines trying to kill a misshu with his knife. It did not go as well as it should and the marine ended up all tangled. Still a brave thing to do and by now it was not even stupid, the knive could very well kill the misshu. But Lisa could not see how things were progressing as both marine and Misshu fell into the cell. It was clear by the sounds that the marine needed help.

Lisa moved around the far wall to not get into anyonres firing lane, while she still fired a burs now and then, when she had clear firing position. Then she rushed forward moving into the cell with Mark. She slide sideways to see what was going on and saw that the marine was in danger. His armour was penetrated by the tentacles and if he got poisoned, he would probably die as a girl, thanks to the remains of kaserine in the air.

But there Mark was not dead yet and Lisa was there to help. She rushed shoulder first, ramming into the Misshu and running, as soon as she grabbed it she activated her thrusters and send bothhersel and the Misshu against the wall. She hoped that it would at least stun the Misshu, so she couldstuff barrel of her gun up its gullet and fuck it up.

"Well damn, this is going to be a problem" Sawyer muttered before targeting one of the Mishu and flicking his HPAR to full auto. He'd lean into the shots and rip off multiple controlled bursts of fire into the the one that was trying to retreat into cover before it could get away and activating his PPG to slam one of the ones that was unengaged into a wall.

"Fuck not the gas. The squid I can take but why does is have to be the fucking gas." Mark thought as he heard his suit depressurize; the sheer terror he felt bringing tears to his eyes obscuring his already poor vision. He held it together long enough to turn the filters in his lungs on and struggled with the squid trying to detach him when all of a sudden he was gone. He pulled off his helmet and threw it into the adjacent cell before picking up his rifle and shuffling over to the entrance of the cell where he sat down and looking lost for half a minute before coming to his senses and he leaned out looking at the squad. "Shit, they got behind us! Who let this happen?" Mark screamed over the sound of the gunfire before firing at the squad and using his PPG on Sawyer to knock him onto the ground.

Richard looked back to see the Sarge taking heavy fire and got rather nervous "Sarge, you need to get back into cover!" He quickly racked his brains for a way to draw their fire without putting anyone else at risk and then it hit him, why not just put the Mishhu in his shoes. He stretches out quickly and extended his arm to the Mishhu that was trying to hide, activating his PPG and pulling him, trying to throw him into the line of fire of the other two Mishhu troopers, and then for good measure he fired two locked missiles at him just to make sure he was pinned down.

"Goddamnit" Max cursed as he found himself pinned by enemy fire. His lasers and HPAR fire didn't seem to be as effective as he had hoped. These Mishhu were tough bastards indeed, simply refusing to go down even after repeated hits. Max watched as the Mishhu began to focus there fire on the sarge and Max knew that this was getting far too dangerous for their exposed squad leader. Knowing that if the Sarge went down, they'd all be screwed, Max exposed himself more to the enemy. Attempting to present a better target than there squad leader. He had already lost one squad leader today, he wasn't about to lose another.

Stepping out of his cover, he took better aim with his HPAR and PLAs, aiming his lasers at the enemy rifles in hopes of taking them out of action and relieving the pressure on the rest of the squad. Watching his lines of fire, he concentrated on the Mishhu trying to retreat, hoping to bring it down before it got away to tell its friends.
