RP: YSS Resurgence Resurgence of Yamatai - Mission 4: The Hand That Feeds

Upper Concourse

Monitoring the squad nets for the rangers and infantrymen at the same time, she waited to say anything. With the Captain not saying no after a moment, she decided to go the "It is better to ask for forgiveness" route. "Thunder, K-718; you are a go. Bag 'em and tag 'em." Akira responded, using her old code number when she was at the School of Advanced Infantry Combat.

"We have gathered some information on the Black Syndicate, the Reds, and the Ikemen. Information on the Kuvexian Remnant on the moon will complete the image."

Akira was sure one of them might be enough, but 2 at least makes it possible to see if they are lying.

Frank realised that do to their situation and most likey due to the past yamatai has with these Individuals they werent gonna get anywhere fast. "alright cassie were heading back to get a map. come on." Picking up the small neko he set her on his shoulder and began walking back to the ship. Noting how their anxiousness to go into here unprepaired would have lead to them getting lost. As they exited through the way they went in he made his way to the port of the station to see if there was somewhere he could buy a map of the location.

The Black Moon - Hidden Neko Den

Sanda smiles as she got the green light from the Taii. She looked over at Yayoi and held out a fist. "Odds or evens?" The Neko ranger looked at the outstretched fist and said "Odds." After a brief pause they both held out their hands. Sanda had 1 finger extended, Yayoi two.

"Miercoles!" Sanda grunted and frowned. Yayoi just smirked at her. "Looks like you get to tag and bag them and I have overwatch." Sanda grinned and motioned with her hands that she was going to move to a better position to provide cover I'm case things went south and to give her 2 minutes before Yayoi made her move.

Sanda moved invisibly to a new position. She was about 20 ft up from where the 2 Kuvexians stood and about 10 ft to their left. This would allow her to almost instantly jump on top of them if they put up more of a fight than Yayoi could handle, which was unlikely. Sanda knew from personal experience just how good the Neko was at hand to hand fighting. The lighting bolt tattooed woman was more concerned with any unseen backup the Kuvexians might have. She was ready to deal with any of them should the need arise.

The Black Moon - Hidden Neko Den to Ground Level Alley

Yayoi wanted to grin and laugh, but she kept her cool and focus. Stealth was the key after all, and as Sanda signed, she nodded her head and began moving back towards the edge of the Hidden area. She signed with her hands, that it was too bad Sanda didn’t have popcorn. She hoped she’d enjoy the show. Immediately she free fell backward and activated her other ability to change herself. She made herself like one of the local creatures, totally harmless and won’t bother others.

She thought it was too bad that she hadn’t had the body that allowed true invisibility like that one Neko she’d seen at a fortress. She activated her levitation ability, which allowed her to land without a sound. Yayoi showed off the speed of her movement as she moved up to the unsuspecting Kuvexians. She was careful since one of them was distracted by their tablet so the other was hit first. The Neko used the experience she’d gained fighting Kuvexians as part of the resistance and she knew where they were most vulnerable. So she used that to tag and bag as was her order, taking table one immediately after as their comrade fell.

Yayoi also used her self-control since she was no longer in the resistance and the army had rules.

The Black Moon - Ground Level Alley

Sanda watched Yayoi sneak up on the two Kuvies and almost missed her putting them out of action it was so fast. The Nepleslian was impressed, but not surprised. Sanda kept an eye out on the surrounding area for any possible movement but saw nothing. Looks like the Kuvies didn't have any backup. Sanda took on last look around then jumped off the ledge to the ground. She kept her knees bent and rolled to spread out the impact from such a high jump coming to a stop on her feet beside Yayoi. She smiled as she eyed the two and gave a thumbs up to Yayoi. "Thunder to Resurgence. Contacts bagged and tagged. Please send Frank to carry them back to the ship for us."

Black Moon - Docking Area

The Kuvexians were completely caught by surprise. They’d been so busy working that they hadn’t heard the two Rangers approaching. One caught it first, then the other with a loud thud!

“Argh!” one gasped out. “What was that?!” The second Kuvexian looked up and the Ranger was right above him.

Yayoi made sure to capture the other one, before she moved to lean against the wall as Sanda radioed in for pick up or next orders. She'd took note of Sanda's appearance but focused on their prisoners.

Sanda again radioed the Resurgence. "Thunder to Resurgence. Contacts bagged and tagged. Please send Frank to carry them back to the ship for us." After sending the message again Sanda checked their prisioners for weapons or anything else that might be interesting on their persons.

Koyama tapped a nailless finger on the armrest of her chair. So, they had opted to act without orders. Closing her eyes, a cleansing breath passed between her lips. "Acknowledged," from her tone it was unclear if she was displeased, or merely distracted by something else. Looking up at the Shosa, the XO folded her arms over her scant chest.

"Sir, the Kuvexians have been captured and are awaiting extraction. Sterling-hei seems the optimal choice out of those we have on hand. Unless you would trust Maximus-hei, or myself to the task."

Then with a small tilt of her head, the Neko's expression turned pensive, "Should we bring them aboard, they would need to be questioned. Any information they may have could be of use in furthering the mission. And SAINT." by her reckoning the fact the onetime great enemy of the Empire being on the Moon was questionable. But she did look a little uncomfortable, of course she could interrogate them. Question them. Long years serving covertly in intelligence had broadened her skill set considerably. Most of which she kept quiet.

"Proceed," Aoba nodded to Koyama.

Sanda caught Koyama's tone. They had gotten a green light from the new Taii. Maybe they had jumped the gun? Oh well, she had just followed orders.

Yayoi also heard the tone of voice but she didn't think much of it at the time. Instead she focused on the prisoners while Sanda had made sure they didn't have weapons, she watched for any movement, especially movement where they might consume poison or something. This was a test of restraint for her too.

Sanda tossed a hand gun and a blade from one of the kuvies then picked up the tablet one of them had been holding. She tossed it to Yayoi. "See if there is anything interesting on that."

Yayoi caught the weapons like a boss and placed them away as she soon caught the tablet and nodded her head. "got it, keep an eye on our guests" she said and began looking through the tablet.

The Nepleslian Ranger looked back at her counter part and raised a tattooed eyebrow as if to say. What else did you think I was going to do?

"Cassie and Sterling-hei will be joining you shortly, have you found anything on our prisoners that we should be made aware of? Or cataloged?" Koyama inquired after giving the Shosa a literal thumbs up at having diverted Frank and Cassie to bring them in.

"Acknowledged. We'll be looking for them." Sanda replied.

"And my latter questions?" Koyama inquired again.

"Stand by." Sanda responded to Koyama. She looked over at Yayoi. "Anything?"

On its surface, much of the pad lay unencrypted, shipping manifests some chat-based records. But if Yayoi dug a little deeper she would find password-protected files buried none too deeply. It seemed the Kuvexian hadn't thought they would be caught. And it showed in the carelessness.

Black Moon - Tunnels

Cassie gave Frank a pat on the back. "This place gives me the creeps. Too claustrophobic feeling, somehow worse than on a starship because you don't know what's out there. You can trust the Resurgence. I don't trust anyone or anything here," Cassie explained. "Not the people, not the construction quality. If we go deeper honestly it should be with a full fire team because anything could happen. Let's go," she nodded.

When they got back to the port they had trouble getting an accurate map. It seemed that various factions had their own versions and there were a lot of unexplored or sealed-off areas that varied based on the map.

Frank would get multiple maps from the various groups and study them each for a few moments. Adding their tunnel layout to his head so he could keep track of where they are at. "Cassie, that fight against the pirates that put you in a medroom for a while was that your first fight?" Frank asked after neatly folding up the other maps and handing them to her.

"If, and that's a big if, we have time when we are going through the tunnels again I'll give you the cliffnotes of my past if you wish to hear it."

"Are you trying to get some sort of reaction out of me? Cassie said, suddenly annoyed at Frank. "No, that's not my fucking first fight," she growled, feeling insulted by the insinuation. "And certainly not my worst. I fought through the fall of the Sixth Fleet in the Kuvexian invasion."

"Sorry, I just mean with how everything went...It could have been better but you did good all things considered." Frank said looking down breifly. before putting his helmet back on. "Well now that we have the proper maps lets get back to the tunnels."

"Thanks for your stamp of approval," Cassie quipped back sarcastically. "Gimme a copy of that map," she ordered him before heading back to the tunnels.

Frank would hand Cassie a copy of the map as he moved to the front. "Look, I'm sorry if I said something that upset you, Working with others in a team isn't my strong point. I'm more of shock troop and sabatage level of skillset. Not nice guy who plays well with others...or I was before that...nevermind."

Koyama's voice abruptly came over Frank's squad net, "Sterling-hei, Cassie-hei, our Ranger team has captured two Kuvexian prisoners. Please bring them back to the ship for questioning. Their location is being uploaded now," with that, markers were added to the android's HUD.

"Saved by the bell." Frank said to himself as he turned around. "Cassie do you wish to take point or should I?"

"Go for it," Cassie said, thinking of the classic 'lowest rank goes first,' scenario with the chuckle.

Frank moves ahead of them, taking point. "Aye" was his only response as he moves forward back to the location. His HUD tracking them both as they moved to the pickup point.

Cheilith took the rear of the group as they moved out.

Black Moon - Docking Area

After a short wait, Sanda saw Cassie, Frank and Cheilith approaching and waved them over. "Hola. Welcome to our little party. We've got some heavy lifting for you to do Frank."

Yayoi glanced over and lifted her hand up in greeting. "Yo" she simply said in greeting and after seeing everything there was on the tablet she lowered it to her side.

Cassie, dressed in her Mindy armor, gave Yayoi an unofficial mini-salute with two fingers. "Sup?"

Cheilith gave Yayoi a wave and a smile, "hey!"

Frank looks to Sanda. "Okay, define heavy lifting and then point me were you want it."

Sanda looked at the two prisoners secured on the ground and pointed.

Frank walked over and Picked up both prisoners and hoisted them to his shoulders. "Okay I'll see you back at the ship then."

Yayoi smiled at Cassie and then turned her attention. "one of them had this tablet with them, might gain some intel from it" she stated and with Frank taking the prisoners she would hand it to Cheilith.

Cheilith took the tablet, looking it over. "Thanks, I'll give this a read on the way back and see what we've got."

Cassie nodded. "Let's get back on the ship and get going," she sighed. They were able to make it back to the Resurgence without any trouble.

Once back onboard Frank would attempt to get Sanda's attention. "hey can I barrow your etiquette book, I dont know where mine is and I don't want to keep messing up."

Sanda gave Frank a 'what have you done now' look. "I'm sure supply can get you one."

Frank nods. "Thanks, I think Cassie is mad at me, so I'm going to go get one so I dont mess up again."

Yayoi glanced at Frank with a raised eyebrow, and mimic's Sanda's look.

"Well what did you..." Sanda started to say but stopped. She didn't want to pry. "I'll make sure to get you the book. I'll even help you study."

Frank lowered his head. "We were doing some casual banter and I made the stupid mistake of using the wrong choice of words and asked if the pirate fight we were in a while back was her first fight, It was stupid I know." nodding his head. "Thanks Sanda that would help a lot."

Cheilith didn't want to get involved, but she facepalmed at Frank admitting to what she had heard him do.

Yayoi gave a exasperated sigh and shook her head as Frank explained himself.

Sanda placed a hand over her eyes and rubbed them. "Frank, Frank, Frank, Frank, Frank. Oh boy. I'm not sure the etiquette book would help with that but we'll see."

Frank nodded, "Thanks anyway now if you excuse me I got to go request a meeting with Poppy to see if i cant get a normal body and get rid of this out of date android one."
He added before making his way to Poppy.

Koyama stood waiting, a hand on her sidearm, still holstered. The look in her eyes was flat, expression level as they returned with the prisoners in tow. "Good work," she said in way of praise.

"Shosa, they have been delivered, hold them in medical during questioning?" she quried.

"Sounds great," Aoba told Koyama. "Make sure everyone is aboard and we'll exit the system and return to Yamatai for repairs. Gabriela, set a course for home."

"Yes, sir." Koyama uttered over the wireless system to the bridge. Motioning for the small team, the First Officer then nodded, "Bring them to medical. I will let Poppy know we have incoming prisoners and have the containment cells prepped."

Sweeping a hand forward, she would bring up the rear, having already messaged the nurse. Letting her know and receiving an 'Okay' while the pink-haired woman went about the task.

Meanwhile to everyone else, Koyama gave the order to return to the ship, their mission, for now complete. And also desiring a report on their findings.

Zan's Cabin

Thad walked into Zan's room like he was the cops with a no knock warrant. Though he did knock once while opening the door since he isn't completely inconsiderate. He froze in his tracks when he seen Zan and then his eyes focused on the young lady who was also in the room. "Oh...well that is unexpected. Should I give you two a moment to finish up?" He asked with a smile on his face.

Zan was shirtless in his bunk and Sakuko, the cargo bay specialist, was on top of him giving him a backrub. She looked over her shoulder and gave him a large smile with her fangs showing. "Oh! Thad! We just needed to release some tension. It is tough being the only pilot on a ship that doesn't use starfighters that often. Do you need something?" she asked Thad.

Zanven looked up at Thad and blinked as the big guy knocked...after he came into the room. Asking if he and Sakuko needed a minute, Zanven chuckled but the cargo bay specialist did that quite nicely for him as she told Thad the truth about what was going on. Zanven finally spoke up after she was done. "As she said she was coming in here to help relieve some tension. I was kind of...not in my right frame of mind after what went down and honestly... she has been a big help in deciding a few things." He said calmly as he gave her a smile as he looked up at her when he was done. "Thank you Sakuko, I appreciate your time here with me...I dont really...get that all that often." He said with a chuckle. It was not like he worked all the time but he was used to going about things alone. This was a welcome change in his eyes, even if he knew not how to approach it yet.

An even bigger smile crossed Thad's face. "I hope you have more success then I with the relaxing. Last time I did that I ended up a dad and the crew coming after me like I was a Kuvvie. That was an experience." He stepped a little closer to them. "But glad you are finishing up here. I try not to get between crew bonding."

"Oh, any time," Sakuko told Zanven. "I hope we can be friends around here," she told him, climbing down and handing him his shirt back. "It's good to have someone that has your back," she smiled.

Zanven put his shirt back on as he looked at Sakuko and gave her a quick wink. He was no idiot when it came to the beauty of a woman and he found Sakuko attractive. Who knew what might have happened had Thad not barged in, but at the same time Zanven was not looking to be the next power couple on the ship. Thad's words garnered a chuckle as he sat up and brushed the hair away from his face. "Thanks for not interrupting, appreciate it." And then at Sakuko's words he gave her a nod and then spoke. "I'll have your back anytime. Plus I think I owe you a back rub since I never actually got to do so." He smirked before looking back at Thad. His room was still littered with pieces of a broken model, and Frank even dropped a few models by as well, they were now on his desk waiting. "What do I owe the pleasure Thad? Are we about to embark on another mission?" He asked and was quite blunt for the moment, not angry about it, but he was a tad bit salty.

"No new mission just yet, just figured I'd stop by." He paused for a moment as he looked around the room. "And getting away from Mia for a moment. The level of cling with that one is unreal." He paused once more as he looked at the broken models in more details. "Looks like during your "back rub" a few things got broken." Thad had lifted both his hands to air quote back rub.

Zanven heard there was no new mission yet but he was there to kind of "get away from Mia and he understood why he was there. "Well considering all that has happened in less than a week...yeah I could see that being a thing. Have you spoken to her about that?" He said as he saw the big guy looking around his room and then make a remark about the back rub...complete with air quotes. "Actually if you must know. After I was told to leave and my presence and assistance was no longer needed in the med bay. I kinda just...lost it to be honest. However, it's...it's cool for now so I'm just gonna rebuild them and see about hopefully putting together something that can allow me to have some stroke of genius so I can pilot and be out in the field at the same time." He said as he looked around.

Sakuko shrugged. "You've got to remember the medical lab is to Poppy like the cargo bay is to me or the armory is to Norita. It's our zone and we're responsible for what's in it, so we're protective. I've heard of Star Army cooks chasing unauthorized soldiers out of their kitchens with knives! But it's doubled for Poppy because she has to think about patient privacy."

"Clearly she keeps the safety off her weapons so know very well to be mindful of Poppy. Though she is some good people, much like you are Sakuko. If I am not mistaken you ordered me some drinks not too long ago." Thad had remembered this interaction with her not long ago.

"Yeah! About that, we seem to have a surplus now..." Sakuko cackled.

"Seems like myself and Zan could take a few from that surplus. Which by the way, sorry for all the excitement with Mia in the med bay." He looked towards the ground before looking back towards Zan. "I knew she was having a hard time adjusting but never pictured she'd go that far. Thinking she took the part, till dead do us part, a little too serious." He lightly chuckled.

hearing that the various personnel areas were quit touchy reminded him of his last assignment as a medical officer and he nodded as he understood. Sakuko was pretty quick on the uptake as the two spoke about drinks and how they now had a surplus. Thad was a pistol though and fired back that Zanven and Thad could take a few off the hands of the crew before he apologized for what happened. Zanven quickly motioned his hands to say forget about it. "Honestly man...it was fucked...the entire situation...she should have known better, you should have maybe chosen your words better...but at the end of the day. We're adults, take my words for a grain of salt. You two will figure it out. However, next time someone buys drinks for anyone around here, or when we get shore leave again. Sakuko you gotta come have some dinner with me. As a thank you, and Thad...I'll have to make you a drink using some classic old school Yam style bourbon. Something my dad taught me, maybe invite Mia and I'll cook for her, you can say you did it...fix your problems...and what not." He finally shut up after rattling on for a bit.

"Well, I doubt the food will fix the problems but it should help. She does not seem to be in the food crazy part of being prego just yet. So hang onto your pants cause this rollercoaster is about to hit a double loop." He full on started to laugh coming to see the worst was yet to come.

Frank would make his way down to the medical wing of the resurgence Intending to talk with Poppy. taking a few moments, he would knock on the door. "Poppy are you available? I wanna ask you If its possible if you can help me get a replacement body as I don't want to be stuck in this outdating android body forever."

“honestly Thad I’ve seen and helped soon to be mothers back on homeworld…and I can say from experience…that is the scariest part of what is to come. Yet I will be by your side and have your back. Same as when we had the talk in the Nodachi.”

He said with a smile before stretching once more, a delightful popping noise came from his neck.

Aboard ship

Sanda returned her rifle to the armory and headed to her cabin. She needed to write up her reports for the last few days but there was something else she need to do as well. She had given it a lot of thought and felt like now would be as good a time as any. She wanted to join the Giretsu. Their professionalism and high standings was a big draw but the training she would receive in Mindy and space combat was her real goal. On the ground there were few who could match her. But in a space fight she knew she was sorely lacking. And besides, Yayoi said she might join her if she did apply. That would great. She chuckled to herself. That would leave poor Koyama all by herself on the Resurgence. Well, maybe Sanda could get transferred back when her training was completed. She hoped so. She would miss Koyama. But all this was depended on Aoba. She needed his permission first. So she composed a message to send to the Captain.

To Shosa Aoba
Captain YSS Resurgence

Sir, I would like to formally request your permission to attend the Star Army School of Advanced Infantry Combat, or Giretsu School. Over the course of my time aboard the Resurgence I have fought planet side and in space. While my skills as a Ranger are ideal for ground combat, my skills in space are lacking. The Giretsu are an elite force and I wish to train and improve myself with the best. I believe by becoming a Giretsu I would be able to bring much credit to my ship and to the Star Army of Yamatai, whom it is my greatest privilege to serve.

Nito Hei Hoshi
Star Army Rangers, YSS Resurgence.

After some Time had past, Frank had went out and bought some flowers from the spaceport area before they took off to leave by Cassie's door with a note apologizing for his stupid remark. He was going to be busy for the next few weeks when he gets his body transfer into a Minkan body futhermore he made sure to let his command officer know he was applying for Giretsu Training. He hopes That Cassie could forgive him for his comment as he didnt mean to anger her.
walking back to her door he would Give a short knock and pick up the gift he got for her. "Hey cassie I Have something for you."
