People didn't freak out over shaped charges, @Zack - they raised concerns about a missile with a blast radius of three light seconds.

Anyways, I have some questions regarding this submission's content:
  • For the Yuuko-Howitzer Warhead, what's the muzzle velocity of the molten-metal jet it emits in single-target mode? The way it's worded now, it seems capable of instantaneously traveling 900,000 kilometers - which clearly violates the ban on FTL weaponry.
  • Also for the Yuuko-Howitzer Warhead, what's the area of effect of the warhead's blast mode? The way it's worded now, one could argue that it still has an area of effect of 3 light-seconds.
  • For the EMP warhead, how does an EMP detonation translate to three rolls of the damage generator? As far as I know, electromagnetic pulse blasts only affect barriers and unprotected electronics - and what if something's hardened against EMP effects?

Oh yeah, the EMP missile was my idea for using the damage generator more. It's meant to hurt shields and disable ships. Even if something is EMP hardened the sheer amount of electricity entering the hull would surely cause something to break.
 
Maybe you should make it like the IRL CHAMP and just give it a rate of fire for the EMP? No reason it needs to be single use since it doesn’t explode.
 
A missile with a warhead that can be detonated over and over and over again seems rather overpowered, in my opinion, because at that point you’re not making a missile - you’re making a drone.

How fast is the Y-H warhead?

The container is designed "to hold two anti-starship missiles", but some of the weapons' warheads it can field are above simply anti-starship.

@META_mahn did Zack only compared it to an aether shock array in the article to explain its diff firing modes. That's an alright thing to do. He never said Sharie and never said he's like Yamatai. No need to put words in people's minds.

This is not a full review, just initial thoughts.
 
You are correct, I didn’t read into every sub article. But hey! At least the multiple sub articles means if we can’t make things work we can cut it from the submission! Better approval chances!

Anyways.

@Ametheliana The original Rudaas was compared to a Sharie. And the Yuuko-Howitzer is also compared to one. It’s a Tier 13, 3ls cone.

Multi-Missile Warhead: Isn’t this basically a gun? Like, you’re basically firing these rapid-fire.

EMP Warhead: Seems a little more balanced if it’s a one-time use, although the shield-stripping power is a little much. Three pulses tear apart a battleship’s shields instantly. @Rizzo While the EMP bursting is actually quite genius (and I appreciate you for trying, it’s better to try and go too far rather than not try at all) it’s a bit much.

This submission honestly has the same problems from when it was first submitted. Except now it has more problems because of the bonus features.

The howitzer warhead seems to be similar in damage and firing mechanism to the Plumeria's main weapon array, albeit with a smaller range. As for the multi missile warhead @META_mahn it's W3902 Sub-munitions x2,560 not multiple Rudass missiles just to make sure you understand correctly.
 
I'm still not seeing the way he is comparing it to a Sharie. Is having the same tier as other ships not allowed, now?
 
@Ametheliana, @META_mahn - Shouldn't these also be factored into the C9's weapon limitations?

Edit: No one's saying that having the same tier as other ships is not allowed, Ametheliana.

Edit #2: With the Yuuko-Howitzer warhead being tier 13 and the C9 having twenty-four C9 Vertical Launch Cells, the C9 is in excess of the Armament Limitations by 2.90625 points - hence either the number of VLCs or the tier of the Yuuko-Howitzer needs to be decreased in order to comply with the Submission Rules.

We also still need the ranges and angles on the Yuuko-Howitzer. But, assuming it has a range of 1ly and an angle of 30deg:

Let’s do the math.

Use the tangent function to determine what the short leg of the right triangle, small angle 15deg is.

We can use tan(15) to determine that number is 0.267ly. This is the radius of the explosion at maximum range. Multiply by 1ls (300,000km) and you get 80,384km as an explosion radius at maximum.

Needless to say this is gigantic. And since the ASA is a pretty old submission, let’s not use it as a reference point. Remember that this is all packaged into a tiny missile, Tier 7 in size, when the Eikan has a gigantic front section purely devoted to firing these bursts.
 
@META_mahn in regards to the EMP missile, this weapon is meant to be a heavy hitting cruise missile so some degree of power should be permissible due to its low ammo capacity, right? I just like the idea of being able to cripple rather than kill. Also, it's not that it's attacking 3 times, it's just one big hit.

@Zack in order for this to really be a missile it's going to have to be used way closer. Besides, there is like zero cool factor in a missile you can't even see coming. This concept could still work, it just needs to be 99% less gigantic in scale.
 
The CBRN unit and Red Team were approved by Wes. At the same time, I didn't put them up on the NTSE since they were mostly just a reorganization of stuff we already had and probably didn't need approval. I know I'm breaking my own 'Just always put stuff up for approval' rule there but also making changes to your own stuff without approval for things like organizations and histories is pretty common.

All roads now lead to Vier.

I think I can do this a wrong way every time, and the DRv3 article is super clunky/unhelpful to read through. The missile has multiple purposes, which is the whole point of having a missile system, so the purpose just reads 'multi-mission'.

The Y-H warhead once it detonates should be 'really fast'. Jets like this should be some of the fastest things around and in SARP the answer would be that it travels 'near c'. I would also hate to write that down now and have to revise it downward later. Everyone has railguns that fire at 'near c' speeds and that's kinda nessisary since all of the starships move at a good fraction of c. I can kinda handwave it in my head as it being a game convention rather than ships actually moving that fast but at the same time I'd rather not write that down if I don't have to. TL;DR: It goes fast, but I'm using the site rules to avoid writing down a hard number for realism's sake.

'hold two anti-starship missiles' I mean, technically you're correct (The best kind of correct). In this circumstance I meant actually 'missiles that can be used against starships' and not specifically 'Tier 12 DRv3'. I've changed the wording to 'multi-mission missile' to better reflect this.
