[SAoY] What's the difference between an Avatar & a Sprite

The various computer systems of the Kessaku Electronic Systems feature an avatar defined as synthesized body, Some ships even go so far as to include "a coffin-like bed for the ship's avatar"

So with the upcoming "ban" against Sprites, I am curious as to the status of these IES controlled bodies.

An avatar is a physical representation of the computer. A sprite is an independent being created by (and often controlled by) the computer, usually for some specific task (eg: "fix the engines.").

I figured that, but was curious if there were physical differences. eg: Does an avatar require food, sleep etc. And what is it about the brain of an avatar that makes it different from a sprite.
