Interest Check Scouts among the stars

Why are you guys saying you're being told this? There are literally two different job listings on the wiki, you've read it here. While operatives are fully capable of conducting interrogations (what a human intel collector does), that's more analyst stuff and operatives are the supersoldier spies seconded out by SAINT that everyone makes up stories about. Either occupation could find a cool place on this plot but Ajax isn't looking into the brunt of your conversations, are they?

Good luck bro, it's a cool plot idea but you got to keep your head down and do it ^^

The plot that Glein ran, and ran well, was a ship with a ranger oriented compliment of forces, backed by a unit of rikugan for in case the rangers needed their asses pulled from the fire. The whole point of the plot was reconnaissance, sabotage, and disruption of enemy forces in their own territory. This usually included a SAINT liaison embedded with the unit as the on site intel cataloger, and point of contact for intel relay from the intelligence branch. It sounds like the ideal setup for what you seem to be going for, but that is just my two cents on the matter, and worked very well for RP and story writing.

It also would just be nice to see a new ranger plot reviving the flames of adventurous recce shit that the rangers are built for lol. Plus you get to use all the new kit that was made for rangers, and urban infantry operations that, along with the new rifles. We poured our heart and souls into the work, and we hope others will enjoy it as much as we did.

Yeah, I have the exact same understanding myself. I was told there's two sides of SAINT: one is the intelligence side and the other is the wetwork/scary/unaccountable side. There are very few of the latter and the former actually don't know very much about them at all. However, the former like to dip into the protections and reputations at times that the latter get, lol.

A regular ship sounds like it fits. It also sounds like something a Ranger/Scout ship might do, if it's mostly just solo scouting without fleet support. Recently I downplayed that aspect given 1XF is doing its thing. However I believe Glein ran a similar ship in the recent past with this kind of idea unless I'm mistaken. It might be worth a look if you haven't already, just for inspiration.
main reason I'm asking all of this is because I'm kinda feeling a bridge role focused on SIGINT and maybe dabbling in some E-War. The best options seem Starship Ops (Sensors), Communications Specialist, or Intel Analyst
But I also Really want to play a JTAC at some point but that might not be as likely with this plot ship.

There is IT Specialist as well. But they aren't sexy since they aren't Bridge Bunnies and thus must be shun as the dirty enlisted they are. I have one that reclassed to starship operator (comms specialist) before the mass promotions and wasn't picked up. So I rp her as salty having to return to the IT specialist world. lol

Yeah I do like that and since the character in my mind is kinda based off of Lisbeth Salandar from the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, that one's on the nose. I'm just not sure how much hacking and cyber security we'll be doing out in the wilds of space

I totally missed this. Ame is correct some of what you guys are talking about is a bit over my head since the wiki is big and i haven't read it all. Plus i have been to tired to do research recently.

This is what i am thinking on doing a Ranger focused ground crew with some specialists. The Point of this ships mission is to help find the hidden machine world and support the other three Yam ships when needed. So it does have a set goal.

The ship will have a crew of 1XF with a complement of Far line rangers with a couple of guard rangers to provide medical and engineering specialties and a unit of standard infantry to help the rangers. Im half tempted to make the ranger squad a SOFT team but that depends on how many rangers we get. I will do a proper ooc later

1XF GM Reading List

@ajax228 (and everyone else but especially the GM)
  1. Please read up on the First Expeditionary Fleet Here.
    1. Expeditionary Fleets are by nature more gung-ho than the garrison fleets.
    2. This fleet really did a lot of the heaviest fighting in the last war.
  2. Your Taishō is Motoyoshi-Yamada Ayano, who is the sister of the Imperial Premier and Former Empress.
    1. She is pretty hardcore but is actually very nice and positive. Like Irim, but if she were on mood stabilizers and antidepressants. You could do a lot worse.
  3. You are Based out of Gemini Star Fortress.
  4. It is in the Jiyuu System, which is The Captial of the MCS. (read those too, like all the linked articles)
    1. You are a long, long, long damned way from Yamatai, on the Colonial Frontier, in basically the last bastion of Yamataian Civilization before the empty expanse of the outer galactic arm.
    2. It's both more Traditional Yamatain yet also more YEEHAW out here.
    3. Also Koyama is now your representative in the Senate lol, congratulations.
    4. Beware there are antigovernment terrorists active out here, the Tange Clan, that are not active in Core Yamatai.
      1. They will attack the SAoY if they think they can get away with it and be gone before that Plumeria Outta Nowhere® shows up.
    5. There's also enclaves of Yamatai-sheltered Nepleslian Reds here and there. They provide a significant amount of the Yeehaw.
      1. Leave them alone, they'll leave you alone.
      2. They provide a lot of labor and services and expertise around. They don't care for Motoyoshi politics but they're guaranteed to not be Tange.
    6. Remember this area was once a breakaway sovereign nation that seceded from, and then rejoined, Yamatai. The UOC: Read This Too!!!
@Andrew more to add?
