Kyoto, Yamatai - The Star Army has a new head of Star Army Personnel, and she has a familiar face! In a ceremony today in the Empire's capital, Star Army supreme commander Taisho Ketsurui Yui oversaw the retirement of Ketsurui-Chinomai Minori, her second daughter and long-serving Star Army veteran, from the office of the Director of Star Army Personnel, and the change of command from her to the Deputy Director of Star Army Personnel, Ketsurui-Shinjuku Hanako.
Ketsurui Hanako has been the face of the Star Army in diplomacy and combat and her ships, the YSS Sakura and YSS Eucharis, were instrumental in the First and Second Mishhuvurhtyar Wars as well as the Kuvexian War. She is also a senator who fought for the rights of Nekovalkyrja and protections for mind data. While not a naturally-born member of the Ketsurui clan, she was adopted into it. She has a highly decorated military career that started with bring a communications bridge bunny, then a gunship captain, and later a commander over all the gunships in the First Expeditionary Fleet. When Nataria was attacked she personally responded to the distress call and fought the Kuvexians off while coordinating the defense effort.
Hanako has been working in the Star Army Personnel Command for a year familiarizing herself with the intricate workings of the Empire's largest organization and employer and its needs and the needs of its soldiers. Most recently she oversaw the restaffing of the Second Fleet after its near total destruction in the Third Battle of Nataria, the funerals for millions of soldiers from that battle, the staffing of huge dreadnoughts, a major recruiting drive to replenish war losses, and the creation of PEARL, a new Star Army organization that tracks down mission-in-action soldiers such as POWs. She also created the Star Army Personnel Command's motto, “All Hands In Good Hands.”
The move up to director comes with a promotion to Taisho, the Star Army's highest rank, and is likely the terminal job for Hanako, and a well-deserved capstone on a successful military career.
