Study reveals heightened feelings of superstition in the North-East

Although the majority of us can say with confidence that ghosts, self animating stuffed animals and disturbing horror stories aren't real, as it turns out, residents in the north-east regions of the Kikyo Sector may not be so sure.

A new study shows that freespacers and former pirates once or currently residing in these areas are more likely to believe in fiction as though it were the truth. This extends to folk lore and supernatural rumors circulating around various communities. The area itself is in ambivalent territory, not currently controlled or regulated by any one faction.

"[...]When we asked each of our subjects about the myths circulating in the North-East, they often responded with energetic and enthusiastic stories detailing creatures with absurd and magical capabilities presumably unexplained by science." Viola Johansson noted. "When asked whether they believed these stories, 71% of the subjects said they did with overwhelming positivity."

There isn't currently any concrete explanation behind such a large spike in superstitious behavior but our esteemed scientist suspects that the loneliness of these sectors cause many people to feel vulnerable and "on their toes". This results in increased feelings of paranoia and causes legends to be passed from ear to ear fast, while also increasing the likelihood that any recipient believes they actually happened.

As it stands, little is known about life in the North-East and Viola Johansson seems convinced that further investigation would be beneficial to the galactic community as a whole. Many outstanding scientists strongly disagree and consider studies like these a "waste of intelligent resources".
