...and in other news, refugees from the Ketsurui Military Sector and from Essia have been provided a place to go in Furui "Himawari" Tokyo. The old city, which has been in the midst of reconstruction for over a year and a half, has been completed none too soon for the masses fleeing the Kuvexian Invasion. Of course, people from the old UOC are still welcome, and Taisa Kage Yaichiro has asked "all parties to show understanding in their common experience". The UOC's survivors are known for surviving or being descended from survivors of the attack that destroyed the Taiie system in YE 29. Those living aboard the city ship Nishitama are also being given the option to stay aboard the city ship wherever the government deems it prudent to move it, or to move to Tokyo if they should feel it to be safer.
Tokyo is notable in that it is built to a significant degree underground so that it could continue to function even in the midst of enemy bombardment, so as to prevent a repeat of the tragedy that befell the city in the past. Heavy redundancy and overbuilt utility systems are designed to allow the city to survive a protracted siege if necessary, even if the surface of the city sustains significant damage. There are even underground connections to the newer part of the city and the fleet depot to the west. While it is hoped that these measures do not prove necessary, we also hope that their presence will ease the minds of the refugees who are going there to form a new life while this war rages on.
