As the title suggests, I want to know what you spend money on, SARP. Forget rent, forget bills, forget paying back credit cards or anything of the like! Instead, tell us what you spend money on that makes your life a little easier to live.

For me? It's sushi. Commissions come next. And after that, dog treats and food. I can spend ~$70 on a meal, on a commission, or on a trip to the pet store, easy.

That's where I spend my extra cash. Where do you spend yours?

I don't have a lot of money at all, but I still will spend a bit to attend conventions to hang out with @Nashoba and other sci-fi/fantasy fans. It's really nice to feel like you belong, to people-watch (cool cosplayers!), to meet authors and actors, and to see all the cool collectibles there.

I used to be more like Wes and go to a few conventions per year to hang out with fellow nerds. Now I just save extra money in hopes of one day being able to afford my own house. But I live by the beach and my hobbies are mostly free, so it's not that hard for me to save extra bux for the future while not going mad from boredom.

Most of our "extra" money is going to fund a food ministry we're starting up, at the moment. Lots to do and not a lot of funds to do it, but it's what I've been called to do. So, I do the best I can.

Bank. Bank bank bank.

Car repair fund, emergency house repair fund, layoff fund. Maybe some dollars into the fun fund we don't use.

Buying things for each other or for W or family does offer moments of happiness. But when it really comes to what makes our lives easy to live? It's knowing that when life gets hard, money is not the thing we lack.

Food food food food, fries, burg.

Most of my money goes into basic needs like food, meds, etc. My only real acts of splurging come in buying junk food to comfort eat and the occasional new video game to play. I don't earn enough money to get anything more, and I don't really have anything else to spend my money on besides more food to eat.

I would love to attend conventions, but somehow I always end up not going. I somehow feel that if I ended up at a sci-fi convention I would squeal like a girl, and for those of you who have heard me on skype, that could be terrifying.

Otherwise, I buy books, and play RPG's - I eat out periodically, just to remind myself that I don't have to exist only in my apartment and at work. A common 'date' spot for the missus and I is the nearest Barnes & Noble, which has a Starbucks, and every time we go I end up buying some book or another.

I also read comics. Right now, I am reading through Empowered, and re-reading Usagi Yojimbo.

I'm not really a super-hero comic sort of guy, but a lot of the stuff published by Darkhorse is good story, and that's what I read for.

In my circumstance, a huge amount of it used to go into maintaining my husband's drug habit which he was using because the NHS weren't giving adequate painkillers to cover his gallstones, broken toes, liver and kidney problems as he was on severe and very chronic pain and he died earlier this year from an over-dose. I haven't really known what to do with all the extra income and we just sold some dogs so I've helped his mother (really, my mother now) redecorate the living room so she has a project to take her mind off things.

I've found a lot of it has gone on computer parts to salvage the help I got from my friends to build a machine from the remains of my failed build and my husband's machine to keep it going. I've hooked up three 1080p monitors, a decent mechanical keyboard and we were given an iPad at the funeral which has become a planning and drafting tool.

I've just ordered a Razer Nostromo seeing as I'm developing carpel tunnel and I need the desk space to study from all the art-books I've ordered. It'll basically serve as a photoshop controller along with my 3D Space Mouse and Wacom tablet, as well as the iPad as a color control selection driver for Photoshop, Modo and now 3D Coat which is a voxel sculpting app.

I've had a really hard time with the grief getting myself to make, produce or be creative and I'm basically using painkillers and alcohol as an anti-depressant and I'm hitting my daily limit for caffine pretty much every day now just to fight the lethargy.

I've got some nice bedding coming. Brexit means a futon worth $60 is about £200 on amazon right now so I ordered to a close friend who's now sending it on to me and I've saved a huge amount of money. It'll be so nice to finally sleep in something resembling a bed instead of on the floor like I have been for the last two years or so -- though I'm still stuck in a tiny box room cupboard but I did solve the damp problem with an air filter and adding carpeting instead of sleeping on concrete and I'm now very happy with the room.

Lately I'm also very much into makeup now I'm on my medication properly now I can afford it again and getting the required treatments so I can get better. I'm slowly building up a nice collection and I've got some nice wigs for cosplay.

In the future I hope to cosplay with zero irony as one of my characters, Aiesu Kalopsia. I'm cutting weight pretty severely and I'm into running and hiking -- and a good deal of my income (I'd say around 1/6th?) goes into stocking up on meat and protein as well as konjac flour derived zero calorie stuff to cook so I can follow a very severe ketosis diet around 20 grams a day of carbs, zero sugar.

So far on it in the last two months I've lost about three stone so I should be good to cosplay around March time.

Right now I'm debating putting together the bracket assembly and getting one of those texture-printed bodysuits and cosplaying as D.VA. Like three of my girl friends are really pushing me to do it.

A friend sent me a limited edition toy from a line I'm unfamiliar with who now sits guarding my desk. His name is Pipi-chan and he is a very pretty bun!!

I've also got some tools and I've been repairing mobile phones for pocket-money here and there where able and now I finally have my own phone too which keeps me company when I go running. The hardest disassembly I've done is this Xperia M2 which a friend of mine

It might be good to work on turning some of those justifications to use uppers and downers, and wean yourself off of them. Energy drinks contain sugar and alcoholic drinks provide empty calories, aside from them having side effects you're fighting with. There's 'Zero Ultra' version of that drink, though I'm not sure it'd be much of an improvement.

I hadn't posted in this thread yet, because I save most of my money. In the past six months, I've spent maybe a thousand on groceries and restaurant meals. Before that, I spent another thousand on furniture and an art commission after I got my own place, that's not a regular thing, though. Not counting rent, I've saved more than I've spent since moving back to Vancouver.

I am indeed on the zero ultra version. My diet at this point is mainly konjac noodles, miso soup, roast chicken and lots of medication. I don't pass more than 25 grams of carbohydrates a day sans three cheat meals on weekends to restore glycogen. My alcohol source is also pretty much exclusively whisky. I walk about 12 kilometers a day so I'm doing just fine.

@Gallant just saw your mention that you're reading Empowered. Should probably not mention that I have some of the original layout pages from Empowered :p

Will post what Gunny burns money on soon.. It does include lote of art and art creating things, I will say as a spoiler

Heh. I save my extra cash... :p

Operating my household. Me and my wife really only have 300 dollars after all bills are paid, goes to my coke1 problem and cigarettes. My wife gets the things she asks for, art, treats, but she's a pretty simple person.

1 disclaimer. I mean coleacola not cocain.

Ditto on the video games and books. Also just upgraded my laptop, which is a great change from my 3 year old budget computer.
