1506 Hours

Since the YSS Hana had gone NorthWest of the Kikyō Sector nearly a year ago, Yamatai's neighbor had done the same—and dealt with the Elefirn in their own way. Now it was Yamatai's turn, once more, to try their hand at demolishing the Elefirn, the Kuvexian's strong allies.

Readiness condition two had been set throughout the ship, the YSS Hana, for a long duration of time, something that had happened often during the past month of false alarms within the asteroid and system-ridden NorthWest. It had grown to the point at which the Nekovalkyrja in the command chair on the forward bridge kept her chin on her hand for a solid hour before changing position. Finally, she had let her hand drop limply and her bright orange haired XO that was sitting at mission ops jumped slightly in her chair. The XO then peeked at Kaze "Kamikaze" Hikaru-taii from beneath her own round and devilishly red eyes before she asked a word of the Taii.

"Captain?" the XO, said as she ran a hand through her bob-cut and let her eyebrows furrow in the middle.

"Bellflower-sama," Kamikaze-taii —as she was known to many crew when off-duty and, sometimes, when on-duty— said to the MEGAMI. "Please take us down to a condition three."

"Readiness condition three, ship-wide," said Bellflower over comms and, soon, the captain was out of her AMES, revealing a bodysuit underneath.

Kamikaze turned to her XO while her glistening, pale, teal eyes settled on her then smiled meekly. She put a hand on her XO's shoulder, "Sometimes we have to stop watching the pot of water for it to boil."

Having left the bridge and entered the hallway of the upper deck, Kamikaze made the small handful of steps it took to take her four foot nine inch body to the wardroom, where the cooks were preparing dinner, which would be served in less than an hour. There was a fresh scent of cilantro and limes and Kamikaze wondered if even taco night could clear her mind.

1510 Hours

Oliver Tanaka wandered the halls of the Hana, needing a break from the boring, quiet Medbay, his boots making paced clicking sounds as they struck the floor. As he began to approach the Wardroom the aroma of the foods being prepared assaulted his nose, his stomach soon growling in anticipation. What was on the menu again? Tacos! That's right! His tongue practically drowned in saliva as his mouth watered thinking of the food. He decided to head to the Wardroom, just around the next bend. A few crew cabins passed on his left before he made it to the Wardroom, entering the room and looking around to decide what he should do.

It was unlike Captain Kamikaze to not have her eyes about her, so she noticed Oliver quickly. The black and white haired and short-statured Nekovalkyrja bowed her torso curtly in greeting, expecting a bow of the same kind or a salute from the Santô Hei.

Upon sweeping the room with his gaze, not expecting the Captain to be in the room, his eyes widened as she bowed. Not wanting to appear rude, he bowed quickly and deeply. He cleared his face of any expression, despite his constant swallowing as the scent of imminent taco-time filled his nostrils, which he also couldn't help but flare. He waited for the Captain to return to her previous state before lifting from the bow.

Kamikaze tilted her head so that one long sheet of white hair fell as she looked away from Oliver and towards the galley. She let out a barely audible sigh before she looked back to him, a small smile forming on her lips. While she spoke, she moved to sit close to the galley.

"Nice to see you tonight, Santô Hei Tanaka. It looks like we're both going to be waiting together for dinner, though I don't doubt the rest of the crew will filter in; the smell of dinner is really alluring."

Armor Storage Rack/Wardroom
13日 4月 YE 40

With the ship-wide announcement to enter condition three, Sassa Hall felt the tension within her body melt away as she deactivated her SPINE connection, hung her aether SMG on the corner of her armor storage rack, and floated back into the framework. When her arms and legs were in the proper places, the Mindy’s chest and shoulder plates opened up to unveil Sassa’s unclothed form. She stepped out of the interior insert and landed on the floor with the balls of her feet first, with textbook biomechanical form. From there, she walked to the other corner of her storage rack and began to attire herself in her bodysuit.

It was nearly time for dinner, and that would offer some relief from the constant false alarms and condition switches which seemed to regularly plague the crew for the duration of the past month. However, Sassa was intimately familiar with the patterns of life aboard an interstellar warship, especially one deployed deep within uncivilized territory. After all, she had been born on one, but that did not mean that she particularly enjoyed the constant condition shifts. But rather, it was a part of her duties that she accepted and tolerated, since she understood the reasoning behind them.

After holstering her NSP and zipping up her bodysuit, Sassa began the process of putting her hair into her typical split-color pigtails, which with her high volume of hair, appeared quite massive and voluminous. She floated through the halls of the Midori-class as she finished putting her hair up, and by the time she reached the wardroom, her hair was somewhat set.

As Sassa floated around the corner and into the wardroom itself, she spotted the captain and one of the few male members of the crew in her periphery, a medic. She floated towards the captain from a direct angle, so that the black-and-white haired Neko could easily see her coming. Sassa stopped floating a few paces from where the captain was standing, before touching gracefully down to the ground and offering the woman a salutatory bow.

“Greetings, Kaze-sama.” Sassa spoke as she rose from her bow. “How is the bridge? Has anything unexpected appeared on the sensors?” She asked politely, as a means to pass the time before dinner was ready.

Oliver straightened himself after she did, following her to the galley, grabbing a seat as he responded. "A pleasure to see you as well Taii Kaze." He smiled, glancing to the galley, then transitioning his gaze back to the Captain. "I full agree, taco-time is like a magnet. There seems to be no way to escape it, especially on a ship of this size." He noticed another Nekovalkryja approach them in his periphery, turning to her as she spoke to the Captain and giving her a warm, friendly smile.

There was a new face aboard the Hana, a recently exchanged officer. The newly promoted Second Lieutenant Varrick Stein walked through the PA bay, looking over his M10 Raider that he had brought with him. While they were still in Condition 2, he stripped and cleaned his massive Scout cannon. As he finished reassembling the weapon and attaching the scope, he heard the order to drop to condition 3.

The second lieutenant sighed and placed the cannon back in its place before walking out and into the hall. He was still unfamiliar with the ship, so the Nepleslian officer began to walk the halls of the scout ship. His boot thudded on the metal floor as he walked, reading a report from his DataJockey as he did. As he rounded a corner, he saw several nekos walking/floating into the wardroom.

At that point his stomach decided to begin gurgling, and Stein remember that he hadn't eaten since that morning, He slid his Data jockey into his pocket and walked forward, entering the Wardroom. As his eyes fell upon the Captain, he gave a Nepleslian salute from the door completely forgetting that he wasn't on a Nepleslian ship... "Evening Ma'am." The sniper said in his deep gravelly voice.

Knowing that a salute came easier to Stein where a bow was what a Nekovalkyrja like Sassa Hall deemed appropriate at this given time, the captain returned both. She clicked her knees together and let her hands find their place on them as she answered Sassa Hall's question, admiring the twin tails and bright yellow eyes of the Santô Hei.

"Sensors showed us a faint ionized radiation trail," Kamikaze said as she looked to Stein, then Oliver, "but it passed and sensors shot blanks after an hour of picking it up, whatever it was."

Oliver nodded a bit, recalling the times he was on the bridge of the cargo freighter he practically grew up on after his parents were lost to the vacuum of space. "That's a bit odd, but I guess it's good we haven't picked it up again, right?" He asked the Captain after giving a respectful nod to the Nepleslian, accompanied by a smile. He remembered the various Nepleslians he encountered during his ship-hopping, how they always seemed gritty and rough compared to the clean and refined Yamatains in both the way they dressed and how they spoke. He would invite the others to sit, but he wasn't sure it was his place to do so with Taii Kaze practically sitting next to him.

“Whatever it was, I am glad that it gave us enough time to start dinner.” Sassa returned politely. “Perhaps it will be so kind as to let us finish eating, as well.” She added in a reflective tone as her eyes went towards Varick Stein, the Nepleslian exchange officer on the ship.

Upon seeing him, her thoughts went towards the massive Raider armor that she had seen in the armor storage room a few times before. Having such a distinctively masculine armor in a room full of sleek Mindies was incredibly peculiar to her. Sassa suspected that if the Raider were deployed alongside the group of Mindy armors, then it could potentially attract a larger volume of hostile fire, simply because of the contextual distinctiveness of the design. She wondered if it was worth it to broach the topic with her CO, but she suspected that there was little they could do regarding that particular issue, especially with existing regulations in place that prohibited non-Star Army personnel from piloting the Mindy. Although she was not familiar with the subsystems of the Raider by any means, Sassa wondered if a volumetric projection system could be installed, to at least make the armor look like a Mindy, so as to alleviate the potential issue.

She turned towards Oliver and Varick, respectively, to acknowledge both of the men with a fast and light bow. The smell of cilantro and lime in the air was making her hungry, but not so much as to be ravenous. That would require a few more hours, at least.

Looking to Oliver, the captain said, "Depends on perspective. I'd like nothing more than to sniff out the trail like the scenthound we ought to be." Kamikaze thought to continue the metaphor. "If the trail leads to our prey, we howl, and then rest of the hunt comes to our call." She nearly turned to Sassa, but kept her eyes on Oliver, wondering if the crew were prepared to find what they were looking for.

Armour Storage rack / Wardroom

A soft, partly mechanized grunt came from Zoeichi as she grabbed the hilt of the saw blade strapped to her hilt, adjusting it slightly. Condition two was a pain, walking around in full armour, locked and loaded. Yet with all the safeties on. Yet all of the ammunition loaded, as well as the rather heavy melee weaponry she carried on the hip of her Mindy. The chains hitched together and secured together. A patrol through the hallways that was cut short when she heard the security detail dropping down to level three. A soft breath of relief came from Zoe as she turned on her feet almost immediately. Level three meant she could turn in her armour and actually not be secluded with dinner for the umpteenth time.

The doors slid open as she moved in to the storage rack. Heading over to the station designated for her. Where she undid the two saw blades and placed them against the wall. She stepped into the station, the Mindy hissing as she was finally able to slip out of the top. With the nescessary groans of strained effort.

With a soft thump, Zoeichi touched down. Mayhaps a bit wobbly. It was the first time in a week or two that she had properly been on her physical feet. And not with the support of her Mindy. The short walk from the barracks to the storage racks weren't enough to keep her in proper shape. So first thing after dinner, physical training. Grasping at the chains of one of the saw blades, she swung it up and caught it with her shoulder. A soft huff as she felt the metal smacking against her shoulder. Possibly even a bruise would form. But after all, it was the first thing she felt in a while. The grasp on the cold, steel handle. The smooth blade. Her other hand moved to pick up the second blade. And she lingered but a moment, relishing in the weight of her trusted weaponry, before turning them into the holo-storage.

A soft rumbling of her stomach reminded her of her next destination, the ward room.

In a near hurry, she slipped into some proper clothing. She disliked the bodysuits for a plethora of reasons, though her actual gender was the main reason to blame. Pulling on a loose, baggy jogging over the body suit's leggings, she decided that'd do. And with a graceful turn on her feet, she broke into a soft jog, out of the Storage Racks, headed for the ward room. The door slid open and it seemed like there was already quite a few people present. One of which being their CO. "Kaze-sama," her soft, yet stern voice carried on far in the room. And she presented herself with a bow, before straightening herself momentarily. And only a few seconds later, her pose relaxing again as she walked in properly. "Good evening," came a more relaxed and casual greeting for the rest present in the room.

Stein nodded and dropped his hand as the CO did, giving her a respectful nod. He then returned the nods of the other assembled crew, before moving to an unoccupied table. As he sat, he removed his beret and ran a hand through his silver hair before sliding the beret back on. It was odd being the only DIoN transfer aboard the ship. He wasn't used to the Yamataian way of doing things.

He grabbed his Datajockey from his pocket, and began to scroll through reports once again. Despite how he felt, he wouldn't allow that to get in the way of doing his job.

In walked the ship's resident Iroma logistics personnel, Lucas Arturius. The Santo-Hei seemed preoccupied as he entered not really expecting anyone to be there. He had a datapad in hand signing forms, and jotting notes related to cargo and supplies. Having been in the hold checking that everything was as it should be. He absently moved to the nearest table, the same everyone else had taken a place at.

The 6'2 black horned male, with black hair, chalk white skin, and violet eyes looked surprised as he finally looked up.

"Oh! Many apologies Captain! I had not expected anyone to be here. Please forgive my rude manners.", The Iroma man said quickly bowing to everyone.

"I see your point, Taii. But if I were in your position, I don't think I could justify going on a wild goose chase and wasting Star Army resources for what could have been a sensor malfunction. I got in trouble during my medic training for using unnecessary equipment during a simulation because I was trying to make sure all avenues were covered, leaving resources unavailable for those that actually needed them. It is for that reason that I have no desire whatsoever to be in a command position." Oliver replied, locking his eyes with hers for a moment until Zoeichi walked in.

He gave a friendly smile to the Elf, then looked back to the Taii. "However, Kaze-sama, I will wholeheartedly support your decisions in this matter. Unless I see a direct negative outcome on the crew's health, I will never fight against your orders." Oliver assured with a smile.

He nodded to the Iroma male and gave a warm smile, whom he didn't really know all too well. He really didn't know hardly anyone on the ship besides their species, blood type, name, and how to fix them should they be injured. He hoped to rectify that soon.

Kamikaze's eyes had grown steady and their opaque teal color was made more apparent by the rise of hemosynth to the skin around them. The slight flush that had come to her creamy skin while Oliver recounted his experience dissipated when he reiterated his allegiance to her command. She breathed a sigh as she patted him on the back and spoke while her hand rested there.

"It's good to hear that you'll follow me into the dark," she said. "Equally so, it's good to be able to learn from your experience. Thanks for sharing it with me, Santô Hei." She gave him a white and toothy smile while her hand slid off of the top of his back and she stood, looking quickly into the galley before turning slightly to angle herself to look at the Iromakuanhe man with the lilac eyes, to whom she gave a curt bow.

"Santô Hei Arturius," Kamikaze told him, "We're happy for you to join us."

Over the last 10 minutes or so while everyone else had been filtering in and finding seats in the dining area the smell of tacs had definitely been noticed several times by many people. "Taci night always sends em running." Sakura thought to herself as she turned away from the unfolding scene and went back to her work. The pale grey neko had been working on preparing enough food for the last hour give or take and seeing the crew filling up the wardroom this early she was glad her intuition had said to make more than usual.

On any other day when they hadn't spent a good portion of said day dressed in armour from changing readiness conditions Sakura may have let her trouble maker side take over for a moment and someones food with extra chilli and hold a game of roulette to find out who it was. However it's hard to find motivation to do such a task when your captain walks in looking tired and you've been cooking in full armour for an hour not bothing to undress when the condition level was lowered for fear of it rising again.

Sakura finished up the first round of tacos and set them all out on a large plate grumbling about the impractica nature of cooking in armour, she had already removed her gloves to make fine point modifications to the dish but she had to admit the helmet was a far more comfortable alternative to a hair net. Floating only centimetres above the ground the neko hefted the large plate easily and moved silently out into the dining area placing the dish on the table the crew had centred around. "Evening captain, crew mates, sorry for the wait but I'm sure we all just love cooking in armour as much as I do. I've got plenty more left too so just give me a shout when seconds are in order, got some cleaning to attend to." Sakura spoke almost briskly not wanting to get caught in any socialisation while she still had work to do.

Kamikaze looked about to everyone seated before looking at the many folded tortillas with: crunchy, crisp, and lime-spritzed lettuce; freshly chopped tomato cubes; and either long fillets of beer-battered halibut or ground and spiced space beef. The captain widened her arms, as if blocking the path for everyone to the food before closing them again in a gentle clap.

"Let's share more with one another this evening," Kamikaze said, "over dinner." She walked forward and turned on her heel to pick up a plate, then ushered Oliver and Sassa Hall near her to their feet with a slow movement of her open palm towards the ceiling. "After you."

It seemed the Captain hadn't words for her. Even worse, it seemed like she wasn't even taken note off. No, her appearance was apparently overshadowed by the Iroma. And as she moved into the room, she sent a passing glare over her shoulder. Be it a purple gaze of earned ire, curiousity, or nothing more than poor timing just remained an uncertainty. The platina haired elf crossed the room, the large braid swaying besides her as she moved over towards Sassa.

Kaze-sama started to speak. And she defaulted to leaning against the wall behind the pig-tailed Neko, folding her arms and listening. First focussed on the CO herself, before a steely gaze moved across the room slowly, inspecting anyone present. Though offering a curt nod if anyone would answer her inspecting look.
