Episode 1: The Ghost Outpost

With Task Force 48 deployed at Tange System the flotilla began their humanitarian duties to help with the rebuild of the capital homeworld of the Tange star system. The duties were provided to all ships as was expected of them. The duty of YSS Wakaba was to perform a sweep of the star system and get rid of any remnants of the Interstellar Kingdom Of Kuvexia that dared to stay behind. However, Wakaba Inaho reports to her Captain that there is a signal coming from Tange V. The Wakaba is ordered to deploy immediately to investigate the unknown signal.
The Tange system was just liberated from its captives as the 1XF had pushed the Kuvexian's main forces out of the system. But it was far from over as the real work was just about the start. Planets were ravaged and plundered by the Kuvaxians for their rich minerals and slaves, cities were burning, people were used for entertainment. Task Force 48 of the 1XF was deployed in the Tange system, to begin with, reconstruction and humanitarian support to all people. Kyaa-class ships are being deployed to start search and rescue operations at the homeworld while the Minori-class ships start with the deployment of medical support. The combat operational ships such as the Chiaki-Class and Plumeria are being deployed at the homeworld in a defensive formation.

"INAHO!" A loud scream come from the hallways towards the bridge as the Wakaba Clerk rushes in and looked around. He was angry, you could read it from his facial expression and intensify until his eyes locked onto Inaho who looked a bit confused standing next to Asaka who tried to ignore the developing situation that was happening "Give it back to me...for the last freaking time...stop touching my personal stuff" He sounded frustrated and some of the newer crew members were confused about what was going on.

"I don't know what you are talking about mister Brooks" Inaho responded with a calm voice "What did you lose, anything important?" She tilted her head a bit confused and waiting for an answer.

Making a bold fist and points to her "You damn know well, you already hide it for bloody four-time and getting tired of this cat and mouse games Inaho...give it back to me right now" Zedarius spoke annoyed back at her. Meanwhile, Kazue walks into the bridge and cracked her neck while rubbing her neck "Why is there yelling going on here?" She noticed the two who were augmenting and sighs "Nevermind...." She gave the gesture that she didn't want to hear it "Tetsuya give me a sitrep" Kazue spoke while wandering to her chair and sitting down as Zedarius walked to his Captain as she points a finger up to wait.

"The YSS Unyo, YSS Musashi, and YSS Teibo have grouped up and are in the orbit of the planet, relief forces have landed and started their operational duties. The Wakaba is in standby mode and awaiting orders" Asaka reported while looking at the latest reports that came in from the Task Force 48 communication grid "We are getting various scout reports that there are problematic locations. Advice from operations is that we go eventually or the Hizen deploys its fighters to investigate?"

"Taisa..." Brooks complains.

Kazue sighs again leaning back in her chair and placed her hand on her forehead "Give Hizen the order to deploy the investigation of the locations. If it is a hot zone pull them back and report back to me. Let Hizen stay put on the location for defensive purposes. Inaho gives it back or god helps me when I close down your access towards the gaming sectors of the ship and restrict you to a diet" Kazue looked at Inaho who was shocked at the response from her Captain.

Lowering her head like a sad puppy and walks to a crewmember tapping on his shoulder "Move..." The man looked at her with blinking eyes and then at Kazue who was not looking impressed as he simply nods and stood up from his chair. Inaho bends forward and grabs under the chair a necklace then walks back to Brooks and puts it in his hand "I ...found it" She pointed out and looked at Kazue seeing she was looking back at her with narrow eyes "And...I found another thing" Walking to a science console as she grabs behind the panel and picks up a small item then walks back to Kazue and gives it back "Sorry..." She mutters not looking this time at her Taisa.

Kazue sighs and looked at her side "Azai-Hei Get me a sitrep on our supplies of the Wakaba..." She noticed that Inaho suddenly looked at the screen "Wakaba is receiving coded transmission for 7-line. 1-TANV-2-X-3-X-4-U-5-S-6-S-7-CN..." She blinks and looked back at Kazue "Transmission is scrambled" Nodding towards the new information and pressed the communication for ship-wide "This is Taisa Motoyoshi, Wakaba is going to break off from Task Force 48 formation to set course for Search and Rescue operations. Flecter-Shosa get your medical team ready for emergency deployment" She slides the communication off as the Wakaba engines started to make a starting up sound as it slowly moves from the orbit "Move to Tange V, the transmission is still active on rotation cycle 5 minutes" Inaho spoke seriously

"Aye, we'll be ready," Fletcher replied before looking at his assistants. "We've been preparing for this, I will deploy with the forward team to set up local triage. Masao you'll be here. Sunde, with me." He said, turning to leave the med bay to go down to the armory.

At the armory, he first put on his powered armor, which had the powerful Ke-M2-P4003, not as longed ranged as other variants, but it allowed him to get around quickly to wherever he was needed. "Sunde, get the mobile surgical theater and make sure it's operational. I'll check our triage box."

Wakaba Yukiko emerged from the lift bank on the port side of the command level of the bridge, she didn't need the additional updates; she had a handle on that much at least. The sprite relieved the officer at tactical and slid down into the chair, the SPINE connection engaged which increased the flow of information into her digital mind. "Search and Rescue? We should probably air on the side of caution - this system I don't think has ever known what clean is, Motoyoshi-Taisa. We have a couple of those new multi-role science drones in our inventory, I suggest we launch one to get a closer look at things." she recommended as she had KAMI initialize a lower level diagnostics on the YSS Wakaba's offensive systems.

"Something to do, mother - this is what we live for," she said wirelessly to Inaho.

Yukiko was excited, this was the kind of bridge shift she preferred. She was in the motions quickly, the independent aether generators that provided power to the turrets were online and KAMI had organized the data from the quick diagnostics, so she reported to Kazue, "Tactical, ready."

Deeper below decks, the honey-haired logistics soldier was hard at work inside the High-Concentration Fabrication Chamber near the launch bay, taking a welcome break from her intense concentration when she heard the orders from the bridge come in for a report. Since arriving on the positively massive Sharie-class battleship, Azai Kaede had barely taken any breaks, what with the huge to-do list that the mission entailed and the endemic supply shortages due to the war. It was a welcome, relaxing change from her time on the YSS Sakishima, however... as that rescue operation in the heat of battle on a tiny, overcrowded destroyer brought back too many bad memories of the fall of the UOC, and the resulting squalid refugee conditions on Leo Star Fortress. However, this next posting was soon to engender those same emotions deeper in her old nekovalkyrja heart, as the worlds of Tange, once more ravaged and pillaged by war, lay now beneath the Star Army flotilla.

Still, this was not the time to wax nostalgic and bittersweet. Regardless of the where, and for whom, Kaede's duty and purpose was unchanged since her creation 13 years ago. It was what always guided and grounded her in the chaos, and she was very, very good at it. Indeed, there was a certain zen peace about the job -- for containers and blueprints always made perfect sense, never lied to you, or caused pain and suffering. They just... were.

A volumetrically projected image of the svelte Minkan appeared on the bridge of the YSS Wakaba, saluting once to the captain before delivering her update. "Hai, Motoyoshi-Taisa... currently, our overall combat readiness level is still sub-optimal. There are power armor, starfighter and munitions shortages which I am in the process of addressing through on-site nodal fabrication, but due to our low crew levels and mission focus it has taken a lower priority." The modest Joto Hei pushed up her glasses once, as the good news followed the bad. "I can report, however, that the supplies received from Jiyuu Fleet Depot for our medical teams are adequate, and I have ensured our squadron of 8 Fukuro "Multi-Role" Shuttles are stocked for immediate search-and-rescue deployment, even if the maintenance has been rushed to do so."

"Hai, shosa," Kari Sunde automatically replied to each order given to her by William Fletcher-shosa, her commanding officer. Though this was her initiatory assignment and had only recently met him for the first time, she knew enough about his service history to respect his wisdom in addition to his rank. When he started moving towards the power armour bay, she followed closely behind.

The blonde Nekovalkyrja was tremendously excited for her first mission and surprised herself when she felt the left corner of her mouth curl upwards slightly in an uncharacteristic show of emotion. However, given the excitement of her present situation, she felt that the outburst was understandable, but she made a mental note to be prepared for such a reaction at the beginning of her next mission.

When they reached the armoury, Kari went straight for her power armour. The medic, who was quite tall for a standard Neko, performed a fast but complete visual inspection of her Neko Tall Mindy 4. In her mind, she brought up a checklist of every part and checked them off one by one as she confirmed that each was in its proper state. She trusted the technicians to perform their duty to the highest degree of quality, but she also knew that such a simple procedure could save her life and in turn the lives of those she might have saved.

Once she was satisfied with the external status of her armour, she hopped up and stepped her feet into the legs through the chest area, then slipped her arms in and closed the suit around her. Once inside, she dropped the holographic projection of her uniform and took a moment to appreciate the feel of the synthetic material against her skin before using her SPINE to begin interfacing with the suit. Immediately, she lost all but the vaguest notion of her soft Neko body, and in its stead, her Mindy took its place and she was instantly aware of all the myriad sensor information it was now feeding into her digital brain. Within a fraction of a second, she had a short conversation with the onboard computer. The conversation was digitally encoded and compressed to its information-theoretical limit for efficiency, but it still gave Kari the sensation of a leisurely discussion.

Mindy, how are you? Kari asked politely.

I am beginning diagnostics, the computer replied and paused for the smallest perceptible measure of time. I am doing very well. All systems are at peak capacity.

Very good, Mindy.

Kari felt her body was incomplete until grabbed her helmet and put it on. Then she stepped up off the ground and floated with all due urgency to the equipment area, where she quickly scanned over the neatly stowed gear until she saw what she was looking for. She grabbed the mobile operating theatre and first verified that it contained the expected medical supplies before running a systems check on its tools, sensors, and its ability to construct a sterile structure. She attached it to her back and floated to Fletcher.

"Mobile surgical theatre operational, shosa."

The Wakaba started to pick up the speed and move away from the gravity pull from the Tange homeworld. Shields reflections were sun across the hull as small pieces of astroid that are no danger to anyone hit the hull and get crumbled by the sheer force of the large ship. The ship was not fully combat-ready, but its crew was ready to face any danger that was lurking out there. The engines were powering up making the Wakaba go faster to the plot a course to the 7-line distress signal that pointed to Tange V.

Bridge

Leaning back in her chair, Kazue looked puzzled at the screen to see the scenery change "Inaho got any data on Tange V?" She said without looking at her, Kazue was more focused on the data feed that was coming in on the side of the main screen "The location rings a bell out of the depths of our history, but I can't put my finger on it" She said with a shrug. The Tange system was for Kazue a whole vague blur for her, there was not much data to be found about it or information that rather wish it got forgotten.

Inaho had her hands behind her back and shrugs at the same time but eyed her daughter for a second and then looked back at the screen only to send a message back "Let's hope it's not another battle sweetie, the Wakaba would only be in trouble" She took a deep breath, while she was registered as the ship's operator, Inaho was also seen as an interim first officer due to the severe lack of personnel she stepped up and gets some of the things done "The star registration system concluded that Tange V would be an abandon United Outer Colonies Peeacekeeping Forces station. The station was not scanned or investigated since YE 39. If there is someone there, then it is a high possibility that they are survivors of the recent withdrawn Kuvexian forces" She explained in detail to give her Taisa.

Nodding to that "ETA?" Kazue asked as the navigation specialist looked back at her "9 minutes ma'am" Nodding to that as she looked back at Yukiko "Shoi, fire two of those drones and get back to me on any scan results you might find" Looking back at the incoming screen and report from Kaede and gave her a soft smile back "Good, report to the shuttle bay and get ready for deployment. Your expertise is needed at that base to get certain areas open if the deployment team gets into a sticky situation" Kazue then looked at her side "Hara-Hei meet up with Azai-Hei at the bay and help where you can" With that her orders were given.

Shuttlebay

The Fukuro was getting loaded with additional supplies after order was sent from the bridge to get it ready. The hanger manager looked over his shoulder seeing Fletcher and his team arrive in armor and gave a respective nod to them "Motoyoshi-Taisa ordered the deployment of the Fukuro for this SAR operation. Data on the condition of the unknown base is being retrieved right now for you guys to use. You got two more personals coming down to use the shuttle and get it there, they are experts in their respective field so make use of it is what Motoyoshi-Taisa told me" The manager said to Fletcher as he started to walk to the shuttle "ETA is counted on 6 minutes, get ready to dust off, oh and a final note from our Taisa, stay safe" He smiled at him.

Takeda Junko's transition to a large ship has largely been a refreshing one. One a gunship, she often the responsibilities of a Chief Engineer. Which helped her grow out of the childish shell she had foolishly let herself create and learn new skills. But it was very taxing on the mind, despite how much she loved to be in the machinery.

But on the ship like the YSS Wakaba, she was simply one of many technicians. Some of which she managed due to her rank. But she at least did not always feel the weight of command on her, or so she thought. While looking over the new shiny toy that was the M19 Ryoko and its technical manual, she received orders to the shuttle bay.

Shuttle bay

Arriving in an AME Suit as she didn't receive orders for power armor, Junko carried on her back a premium portable repair kit and a Type 40 Star Army Rifle. Looking ready to get to business, she stopped at the assembled power armor team and stood at attention.

"Itto Heisho Takeda reporting!" she said in general.

The logistics specialist raised her eyebrows once at the thought she would be immediately deploying with the search and rescue teams, rather than just readying their equipment. She however acknowledged the command from her captain, before turning back for just a moment to put the finishing touches on her work. In her gloved hands was still a round lump of matter that seemed entirely non-descript, but as the Nodal Liquid Conduit System was reactivated under Kaede's direction, it soon began to shift and morph. Bit by bit at the atomic level the red haze that hung thick in the air coalesced on the surface of the chunk, droplets conglomerating to the object until it seemed as if she was holding a sphere stained with blood.

But she was not a murderer here -- far from it -- for the sanguine patina dryed, and she blew off some flakes of hemosynth revealing a newly fabricated Mindy 4-series helmet. Ready to begin its new purpose; another masterpiece. Kaede added it to the pile of Mindy parts & accessories she was completing, and escorted the delivery to the armorers in the bay who were anxiously awaiting them, before finally heading to the top deck launch areas where the aforementioned trusty "owl"-themed craft were docked.

Shuttle Bay

The honey-haired Minkan arrived in the bay, pausing a moment to pop a small, round maple candy in her mouth discreetly from a holster pocket, it's sweet, comforting stickiness melting in her mouth while she also popped up a volumetric display in the air formed of femtomachines. She began going over manifests and checklists on the transports dutifully, notes left by the crew chiefs in the logs assured her that they were flight-worthy, and the 8 assigned shuttle's configurable aft cabins had been adjusted as requested. Some were prepped for full medical evacuation and transport duties if called upon, while others were in the small armor team landing variant for quick reaction deployment. This way the Wakaba's captain had many options for what might be awaiting them on this mission.

Kaede opened and directly inspected the cockpit area of the nearest Fukuro shuttle, before heading aftwards and going through equipment lockers and armor racks one last time. There was precious few moments to correct any discrepancies before the team fully arrived, and after that she would likely have her hands full with the bus driver duties. Hopefully not while under Kuvexian fire either... she had certainly had enough of that chaos back on the Sakishima to last awhile.

Yukiko replied back in acceptance of her orders to Kazue, "Hai, Taisa."

She had the Wakaba load two Multi-Role Science Drones into its forward torpedo launchers. She activated the drones and their uplinks into KAMI and then fired them. The two drones zipped out of the tubes and their integrated CFS systems kicked in so that they could go undetected towards the abandoned UOCPF base. "Drones away," Yukiko confirmed, she switched the volumetric visuals at her station to include the sensor data from the two drones. The drones diverted course when they reached the abandoned base, one peeled off towards the port side of the structure and the other towards the starboard side.

"If I can find an open port or bay; I might be able to get one of the drones inside, if not I can have them follow our team in when they launch..." she said, off handly as she waited for the initial results from her scans to come in. The ship-born sprite adjusted her posture slightly and leaned back in the padded chair as the information surged through her SPINE connection. "Motoyoshi-Taisa, I suggest we proceed with caution, a lot of the old UOCPF sites that have been opened lately have had traps and countermeasures left behind by Tange Terrorists," she advised as well after she quickly went through the Wakaba's records.

Shuttle Bay

The Fukuro waited for Fletcher, and he strode for it, his long legs eating up the ground. "Excellent, SAR. Let's grab some extra FARS drones and attachments, focus on ones that will let us find people and traps. The more eyes we have the better. We might be dealing with Kuvexians so I don't want anyone unarmed or unarmored." He said, moving to where he could get a better look at the information that was coming in from the sensors and drones about where they would be dropping in.

The outpost was visible on long-range sensors, it showed that age was caught up on the base and most areas were considered hazardous areas with marking of collapsing of structural integrity. The Science drones came closer to the base as their scanning equipment started to operate, the fear of the Wakaba long-range sensors was quickly comfort of the condition of the base. Further data was revealed that there were lifeforms present but scans were being interfered with by unknown radiation that deflected any attempts of a solidly good read. An entry was not found forcing Yukiko to go back to plan B.
The Bridge

The Wakaba was getting in close orbit of the UOC space station ready to shut down its full engines and convert to low speed "We are arriving at a safe distance from the outpost, the team is ready to leave the shuttle bay. I might assume that Fletcher-shosa is the designated team leader?" Inaho spoke looking over her shoulder to Kazue who simply nodded to that "Understood..." She turned the communications on "Fletcher-shosa, you are the designated team leader of this away team. Your orders are to go into the outpost and get any survivors out there. If you find any hostile forces take them out on your own accord. We will relay any information from Wakaba sensors to Hara-Hei who will be your designated Science officer. Azai-Hei will be your designated expert in the field on UOC materials" She switches to team frequency "The team has been dubbed as codename Silent Howlers. Further advice, watch out for any traps made by Tange terrorists. Good luck Wakaba out" Inaho looked at Kazue "Team has received the instructions"

"Silent Howlers?" Kazue eyed Inaho who lifted her shoulders and didn't respond. Kazue sighs and looked at Yukiko "Please give me details on the outpost condition and relay that information to Fletcher-shosa and Hara-Hei. Let the drones go with the team so we got more eyes in there" Kazue orders.

Shuttlebay

Hearing the orders, Hara moved into the shuttle and got additional armor on herself to be prepared for whatever was going to come down upon them. She noticed the young medic and softly smiled "Don't worry we will have your back" She spoke to Kari "I presume this is your first assignment?" She winked at her as she grabbed a rifle from the holder and clicked it "Better be prepared for the worse" Hara spoke.

It was then that everyone took their seat in the shuttle. Hara noticed that there was quite a team present. Tapping her hand on Junko's shoulder with a sigh of relief knowing to have a strong engineer at their side. Hara looked at the pilot seat seeing Kaede, the one that served the UOC, and was thrown back to the streets in a way when it collapsed "We are ready.." She said with a grunt disapproving her presence in this small mission.

The Fukuro engines started to spin and slowly started to levitate from the ground. With a gentle push, the shuttle left the shuttle bay and into the empty dark and cold space and on the trajectory towards the space station. It was a short and gentle ride as the shuttle made their approach to the station shuttle bay and after some tweaks with the old station systems, they gained access to land at the location.
UOC Station

Before the shuttle opened, Hara gave the clear that it was breathable "Shosa, it would be wise to gain an active console to see what the condition is of the station, it is rather weird that the station is still operational after the years it got abandon" The bay looked rather plundered with boxes open, gear on the ground, and the dust was quite visible.

In her Mindy, Kari didn't need to turn her head to look at the minkan woman who was addressing her since her armour let her see in all directions at once. The neko gave the woman a quick inspection, noting that she had short jet black hair and light blue eyes and seemed to be in perfect health. From her glance at the crew roster, she recognized her as Hara Yuri-Ittô Hei.

"Yes, it is my first assignment," Kari replied tersely in her naturally flat intonation, without turning to look at Hara. Then she reconsidered, thinking back to her socialization training and how much more comfortable people were when she gave more than the bare minimum effort to interact with them. She tried to speak with varied pitch and emphasis, but even to her ears, it sounded awkward. "Thank you for asking."

That went poorly, she thought to herself, perhaps I should demonstrate some form of vulnerability? Though she only felt excitement at her first opportunity to fulfil her life's purpose, she knew from her medical studies that nervousness was a common reaction to similar situations. Surely she could convincingly feign mild anxiety if it might set others at ease.

"Because it is my first assignment, I inevitably feel," then she paused for emphasis, but she did so for just slightly too long and the effect was lost. "Tremendously nervous. But I am glad that you have my back."

Excellent, she congratulated herself internally, my bedside manner and consideration for the emotional states of others has clearly improved since I received my medical training.

With that out of the way, she considered picking up a rifle as Hara had done. She could certainly carry the negligible extra weight even if she never needed it and spent the entire time performing medical treatment. Then again, her forearm pulse cannons were likely sufficient for the small amount of combat in which she was likely to engage, and she wouldn't want the extra equipment to get in the way while she was trying to perform her medical duties. In the end, she decided against picking up any extra armament.

UOC Station

Kari waited patiently in the shuttle as Hara-Hei gave a recommended course of action to Fletcher-Shosa.

Kaede gave a nod and quick salute as the various team members denoted on the communication channel as Silent Howler had assembled for the expedition, relieved that everything was ready as planned. Well, almost everything -- the mousy Joto Hei had only had enough time to bob up her braids and change into orange-paneled Type 22 bodysuit, but not don her protective Mindy armor properly. It was, however, smartly pre-positioned reclined in the pilot's cabin upon the seat, it's insert open and patiently waiting for her when it was finally time to assume her transporter role.

The grunt from Hara-hei to indicate the team was ready didn't go unnoticed by Azai-hei -- nor did the obvious hint of disdain for someone referred to in some circles as a 'Boomerang Traitor' being at the controls. She was used to this by now, and her profession thankfully helped keep a lower profile to dodge the worst of it. "Hai, launching now," replied the Minkan still politely over the comms network, as the alarm sounded once and the Fukuro's loading door sealed up, the shuttle wasting no time spinning up its Multi-Stage Aether Drive and CFS systems and pushing away through the bay shields and into the black...

UOC Station

Kaede piloted the lone shuttle housing the team through the short distance to the station, though the craft was stymied at first by the refusing of docking to Star Army military vessels. Strange that the place still seemed more operational than derelict. "Station systems appear to be active, it is denying us access. Give me a moment," warned the logistics soldier over the shared comms network, as some doubters like Hara-hei likely wondered at first if this was a setup for some foul play.

However, her degree of infamy proved to be an asset in this case, as the former Peacekeeper actually had valuable logistical authorization codes from her days spent at Leo Star Fortress within the partition of the digital mind transferred from her old 22C body nearly 9 years ago. While this brought back along with it images of starving and desperate Jiyuuian refugees in the process she would rather stay buried, nevertheless once fed through the shuttle's CIES to the peripheral systems of the outpost, it was an easy task to grant a bypass allowing them docking access. "Override Gateway-L Ember-514-Delta accepted, we are in," stated Kaede with relief, as a slight tear beaded up in the corner of her unhelmeted face that was quickly wept away as she though of her old logistics SHRINE-OS software.

This short speed bump overcome, many of them barely noticed more than a gentle bump as the maneuvering ion thrusters brought the Fukuro to a rest within what was the ransacked loading bay of the outpost, a cloud of dust kicking up into the air the only chilly reception the battleship's transport received. Still seated at the pilot's chair, Azai-hei nodded to Hara-hei. "Hmm. There is a good chance the MIKO system here is still operational if that's the case, but is locked down in an emergency state." While everyone got organized and formulated a plan, she started running a low-power, rudimentary sensor sweep of the hangar bay for danger such as unexploded munitions and the like.

Yukiko leaned back in her chair to bit, her focus was devoted to the scans of the drones, "Scans show some of that station is in rough shape, our teams are going to need to be careful...Motoyoshi-Taisa, I suggest we keep one drone outside of the station it will help us monitor its structural integrity, I would hate for us to get people caught in one of these death traps," she said in careful analysis of the scans. In front of her a volumetric schematic of the station was in constant motion, streams of data were fed in beside it were but a fraction of what was transferred through SPINE yet the visual helped.

"There are life signs, I just can't determine who or what. I hope our Silent Howlers took some of the new medication over with them. Either way, we should alert medical to be prepared for possible radiological exposure upon return," Yukiko pointed out, as the scan intensity increased. Even though the team took FARS with them, she used the opportunity of the shuttle to get one of the multi-purpose drones into the station. The drone that remained outside the station continued its scans and would do so unless Taisa felt the need to send the second one in against her recommendation, meanwhile, the one that followed the shuttle continued to scan, since they had other equipment with them it was her goal to find a secondary egress for the drone so that she could try to use it to get a better look inside the station.

The combat officer double-checked KAMI's local scans as well, but muted her own feed into the open communications while she did, "No other ships except our own in local space..." she reported and confirmed, regardless she kept the Wakaba's targeting systems on hot-standby just in case that changed.

SGT FEDEROVICH

preparing his bag, Alexandr finally stood up, his towering figure, looked seemingly comical as he entered the Shuttle explosives in hand."Do not worry, everything is going to end well...or in flames." The thick kuznyetski accent leaving the man with an almost comical statement. Engaging his communications via Headset once more the Sergeant, prepared his Gjallahorn launcher, for the next phase of the mission."do not fear, if we are to get stuck, make sure to keep you're EVA suit close. No amount of armor can withstand my toys. Comrades, remember Alexandr is like a big brother, protecting the team should come first. If need be. Federovich out." His attempt and relieving what seemed as a tense situation. Hopefully took. Though he was sure to receive many odd looks at the amount of plastic explosives stuffed into the pouches and packs of his combat gear.

UOC STATION

The Sergeant checked his systems once more to confirm oxygen was still at nominal levels. Looking to his new comrades he quickly put his Ushanka, emblazoned with the YSS Wakaba patch on the forehead." Did the scans show any additional explosives? Possible traps or otherwise? I'd like to make sure we don't have any nasty surprises." His words echoed slightly through the internal compartment of the shuttle, the echoed returning to their science officer and pilot.

UOC Station

"Acknowledged, rescue survivors, engage hostiles if present, watch out for traps. Aye. Silent Howler Actual out." Fletcher said from the shuttle as it headed towards the UOC station.

"It is strange, but given we got a signal, it means someone is likely aboard. If we get a console, can you or Kaede get into it?" The tall man asked Hara.

The shuttle touched down, "Send out the drones first. Form a perimeter in the hanger, then start exploring. We're looking for people, traps, and consoles." He instructed the team as the ramp lowered.

"Kaede, can you access it remotely?" Fletcher asked the pilot.

The station certainly seemed abandoned as the FARS drones started to explore the hanger and then venture deeper within. Bits of trash lay strewn across the deck. Once the hanger was clear, Fletcher was the first out of the shuttle into their new environment. He brought Yukiko into their comms. "Ok, putting together the FARS drones and sensor data from Wakabba, it looks like there is only one console currently active deep in the station. We haven't detected any traps, but that just means they're well hidden. The plan is simple, we'll have FARS drones scout ahead for any traps. Yukiko, your science drone will be next ahead of the main team. Federovich, you are on point. I'll be behind you. Azai, as you are most familiar with UOC, I want you to tell me the instant you see anything unusual. Junko, work with Azai and Hara if we can find something that needs fixing. Hara, evaluate the electronics and if we can get one of them working, let me know. Kari, you'll be behind Hara, let me know if we pin down any lifesigns. Kaede, you'll be last, keeping an eye on our rear and maintaining any FARS drones we need to leave behind to maintain communications. Let's get it done." Fletcher said, heading for the door that would lead them deep into the station.

OOC: If I forgot anyone, or you want your character to have different orders, let me know so I can change it.

Kari knew the history but was deeply uninterested in matters of infamy or reputation, so when she saw Azai Kaede-Jôtô Hei board, she only saw a valued fellow crewmate whose nod and salute she was quick to return. Admittedly, Kari did inspect the former Nekovalkyrja's minkan body as closely as she could without being obvious about it, but she was simply looking for signs of stress or fatigue that might affect their mission.

When Sergeant Alexandr Federovich joined them, she had difficulty assessing his well-being given that he stood a foot taller than she was. Though she was as tall as regular nekos grew, she suspected that the Nepleslian sergeant had some ID-SOL genes. Somehow, his words rang true in her ears. Everything is going to end well or in flames, she thought, those do seem like reasonable outcomes.

Finally, she tensed and listened carefully as Flesher-Shosa gave orders.

"Hai, Shosa," Kari replied then turned to the healthy female minkan with black hair and blue eyes whom she had spoken to earlier. "It appears that you will have my front, Hara Yuri-Hei."

Shuttlebay

Junko tensed up a bit when Hara tapped her hand on her shoulder. Despite her efforts to bury her old personality, it still had a tendency to rear its ugly head. She smiled a bit at the night she had with a former crewmate, but it dropped as soon as she turned around to look at Hara.

Understanding it wasn't to get her attention, she simply just took a seat and waited for the shuttle to complete its trip to its designation.

UOC station

"Roger Shosa." Junko said as she moved into position with Azai and Hara. She was the ranking individual of the gathering, but Azai was a boomerang and Hara was in the science field. She didn't have any particular dislike for former UOC personnel like some of her fellow servicemembers, but they the term fits well.

Junko remain quiet as she looked around her surroundings.

The engines of the Wakaba were humming as the crew was performing to their best nature with the lower staff that the Kuvexian War had demanded from them. The ship scanning was in an operational cycle of a few minutes scanning the area for any deviation. For a short moment, a bleep was noticed by the system that something was there but disappeared within a second. Meanwhile, the team moved in an orderly fashion deeper into the station watching their surrounding for anything weird or any wounded. However, the area was dusted, old, out of use for a long period of time. Yet the station had also seen some history, panels destroyed by some weapon fire, dried blood on the floor, and a UOC peacekeepers logo being scratch out.
Bridge

The information was pouring into the system of the Wakaba as Inaho moved her head a bit and blinked while looking back to a console. She moved towards it and tapped quickly onto it narrowing her eyes 'Yukiko, dear I got a scan bleep from an anomaly about 500 meters in direction for Ayumi Nebula. Could you run a system check to see if everything is fine?' She sends a private message to Yukiko. Looking back at Kazue "Motoyoshi-Taisa, operational functions of the systems are all checked in the green, there is a maintenance check at one of the engines by a few technicians" Inaho smiled softly taking back her place a the side of her Taisa.

"Maintenance check, mhm please check if it is not a fake one. There have been quite some checks lately without good reason" Kazue orders as she was reading on some of the communication details from the 48th.

Scratching behind her ear as Inaho giggles a bit awkwardly "Fake reports, heh that's a thing, kids these days"

UOC Station

Looking at her side to Kaede and then back at her team leader "Understood Shosa, we will be able to probe the UOC system and get into the system. I believe the UOC system has a certain degree of technology that can pinpoint life forms on locations of the station itself" She pointed out with some mockery and rose her rifle "Taking position" She looked at Kari and winks "Keep my back secure and I got your front" She replied with a tease. The journey into the station proved to be quite impressive as some traps were actually noticed by the team in the slightly darkened hallways. Yet the team manage to arrive at a working console that had a flickering UOC logo on it "The system has been taken a toll from poor wiring....Junko care to help me with this cluster of wires to get this system booted up?" Hara asked trying to figure out the dated system.

Meanwhile, a sound was heard from their right of gear falling onto the ground, it echoed through the hallways but no voices or footsteps. Then another sound from the area they came from sounding like a metal plate falling down. The cracking sounds were heard around them, something was off until a ball hit Alexandr's foot, the ball looked small, with animal-like figures on it as the area the ball came from had a trail of blood but no sounds were given "Sounds someone wants to be found" Hara mutters trying to figure out the cables.
