A-2 in roleplay

A-2 is a heavily enhanced cyborg, in the process of evolving. This may her seem a little bit 'shallow' in terms of likes and dislikes, and goals. Over time, her way of thinking and preferences might change. She is played by Lex, preferably in JP's. A-2 character picture is drawn by Lex, her creator.

Physical Characteristics

Height: 6'3

Weight: 220

Build and Skin Color: Abnormally muscular for a female, although with the fat deposits in the right places still. Sickly pale skin and lips.

Facial Features and Eye Color: A-2 has relatively sharp facial features, for a woman. Her jaw is wide and cheekbones high, giving her a stern, unfriendly look. Her cybernetic eyes are completely red and slightly larger than the human eye would usually be. The red lens is solid, with no pupil or eye whites showing. She lacks eyelids, meaning she neither blinks or closes her eyes, as it is not necessary.

Hair color and Style: A-2 wears her hair either in a long black ponytail or a braid.

Distinguishing Features: The red eyes and bulky build tend to be the features that stick in people's memory. Her body is covered with many symmetrical scars, although they are thin and blend in with the tone of her skin, and only visible to those that care to take a closer look.

Psychological Characteristics

Personality: A-2 seems to be a protocol bound, monotone creature that obeys orders and has no thoughts and emotions of her own, at the very first, superficial glance. However, her personality is still in the process of forming, and when she feels confident enough, her childish and naive curiosity shines through. She is at times painfully frank and lacks most social and moral restrictions, as well as modesty. She remains calm, on the brink of indifferent outside combat situations. When threatened, the implants in her body drastically change her hormonal balance, making her extremely aggressive and violent. The system follows a strict security protocol: A-2 warns when threatened by an allied or neutral entity, to begin with. The implants activate when she has sustained actual damage, turning her into the meat grinder she was designed to be.

Likes: Massage.

Dislikes: Smoking

History:

Cloned and manufactured by the SAoN-IPG A-2 was an experimental approach on making a female marine. The main focus was to try to keep common female characteristics like endurance, pain tolerance and long term mental stability. The last was needed to balance the effect the hormonal implants would have. Just like a woman handles PMS, the female marine would have to handle the drastic mood changes the hormonal implants would induce, without going completely crazy. The experiment was not long lived or particularity successful, mostly due lack of funds. Only four months after creation, habilitation and testing of the programming in the cybernetic parts, the experiment was discontinued, data harvested and the lab and scientists put to a better use by the SAoN-IPG. A-2 was sent to complete her training, to later join the military ranks.

During her construction, a slow and painful process of surgeries, healing and testing, A-2 was discouraged to socially bond with her makers and vice versa. Her psyche was formed to become obedient and calm, by positive reinforcement. The neural pathways of reward and pleasure were artificially stimulated every time she performed in a desired way, and was simply ignored when behaving in a less desirable manner. The instant rewards were slowly phased out to a clicker, then to praise. The implant was later removed when no longer needed. Shortly after, the experiment ended due lack of further funding. A-2 began her official military training, which was very different from the training already received.

During her basic military training, aside the necessary teamwork assignments, she didn't find any interest in socialising with her comrades. Mainly because they didn't find any interest in socialising with the quiet, aloof cyborg. She never disobeyed orders as long as she understood them, and always performed to her best abilities.

The SAoN-IPG assigned her to a position as Executioner early during her military career. Despite her oddness, or maybe because of it, she seemed to fit in there rather well. She even formed personal bonds, close to friendship.

Then came the day when she was sent out on a mission, and didn't return. Until now.

Skills:

Communication: A-2 is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, ships, ground vehicles, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. She is fluent in English, but has somewhat limited active vocabulary. A-2 can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms etc. A-2 is skilled in field communications and is proficient in all rudimentary forms of communication (hand signals, flashing lights, etc).

Fighting and Physical: A-2 received intensive hand-to-hand combat training, with focus on disabling and disarming her opponent. Her offensive and defensive techniques are crude, but effective. A-2 implants aid her in targeting and judging distances, making her a good sniper, also why she prefers rifles. She has received an all-round training with pistols of all types, knives, thrown and other types of explosives. While having excellent aim at distance, she is somewhat lacking in mid-range fire fight. A-2 can repair weaponry with adequate tools and time. She is in excellent physical shape and has exceptional endurance. A-2 is also able to pilot land-based power armors, but must rely on the suit’s A.I. to do anything advanced.

Survival: A-2 has basic knowledge of how to survive in hostile environments. She can theoretically build simple shelters, hunt and forage for food, build a fire, etc. She can camouflage herself when needed, and is aware of guerilla type tactics.

Strategy (Tactics/discipline): A-2 is far from a born leader, though she can, if the situation calls for it, understand and give out tactical commands and work with her troop to follow those commands efficiently. She knows the importance of teamwork on the battlefield, has been intensively trained in discipline and morale. She follows the command structure even under extreme pressure (combat, torture), as it's hardcoded into her artificial parts. A-2 is able to recognize ambush points. Her built-in processors aid her with advanced math in order to calculate distances, etc, and she can use a tactical map.

Maintenance and Repair: A-2 can make rudimentary repairs to her mechanical artificial parts, de-bug databases and programs she uses, and guide medical personnel though simpler procedures and repairs of her cranial implants.

Technology operation: A-2 can navigate through most systems in search for information, and connect to systems compatible with her own. Consciously she only has a vague idea of what her processors and programs do, forming a more intuitive form of communication with computerized systems rather than a strictly scientific.

Humanities (Interrogation): Anima has learned to appreciate the art of forceful persuasion. She can improvise when necessary, being creative with extraction of information. She is also proficient in intimidating techniques involving no force or violence, relying on logic and anticipation.

Cybernetics:

Optical implants: A-2's optical implants completely replace the biological eyes and nerves. The implants consist of two major parts, the array of cameras, seen as a solid, red lens from the outside, and a processor designed to process and interpret the images, located at the temporal lobes. The implants while enhancing her eye sight significantly, have damaged the part of the brain that analyses sound, limiting her ability to comprehend changes in tone of voice, making her tone deaf, etc. The optical implant handles three main vision modes- infra red vision, night vision and density vision.

The density vision acts as a form of a digital x-ray. It has very short range, and is designed to allow her spot hidden metal objects, such as knives and guns. Currently it has not been completed, and use thereof causes migraine and epileptic seizures.

Bone structure, muscle and joint enhancements: Instead of receiving purely cybernetic limbs, A-2's body has been fused with metal implants, to strengthen her vertebrae, create stronger muscles and improve the flexibility of her joints. Minor injuries and cuts don't require repairs this way, healing on their own. The downside is that larger repairs require surgery.

Datajack: A-2 can physically connect to most Nepleslian datasystems. The datajack, including a cable that serves both as connecting wire and for loading batteries, is rolled up in a small compartment underneath her tongue. She doesn't share the information about having a datajack willingly, to not risk hacking attempts.

Battery pack: All of A-2's computerized systems can run on carbohydrates, but can also use the power of the two spare batteries located in her chest.

Core: This is the command center and control organ of A-2 all physical and artificial functions. It monitors injuries, analyzes inhaled and consumed substances and informs A-2 continuely thereof, directly in the vision field. It handles most of her mathematical operations, and holds information databases. When A-2 becomes unconscious, the Core continues to record images, for her to review later.

Initially the Core was meant to support A-2 with tasks she wasn't intelligent enough to handle. It is a form of an AI, it hasn't become self-aware, however, at times it disputes A-2 decisions, deeming them illogical.
