Physical Description

Throughout the eons, humanity knew it was not alone, and imagined those it shared the cosmos with. Though most of human history is lost to time, space, and assholes deleting shit and forgetting to back it up, one image endures: that of a sickly gray humanoid, with a face like someone misunderstood what plastic surgery was halfway through operating on a monkey with third-degree burns.

Straddling a line between “way too skinny in the sense of bad horror story monsters” and “stockier than Delsaurian midgets”, Ai’s body appears to be built wrong - muscles that can’t decide if it wants to powerlift or do long-distance running, constantly tensed as if someone tore the skin off.

Big, teardrop-shaped black eyes take up a chunk of real estate on her face, as does a mouth that might be lipless. It’s normally pursed into a small slit, but it’ll expand wider - often into a nasty, toothy “grin” - if she really needs to bite something.

Approximately 6’0.

There appear to be no sexual characteristics - no genitals, nipples, or the like.

Her voice has an odd, rumbling quality to it, like there’s an echo shortly following her words.

The gal who tries too hard to be weird and nonstandard - the sort who’s proud for drinking pepsi when everyone’s drinking coke, the sort who listens to Zappa because “he’s so weird” instead of deeper meanings.

Tends to think aloud, and fast. Other people either find this endearing, or annoying. She’s used to repeating herself.

Candid, but never cuttingly so, she always tries to get to the point - blunt enough to be rude by Yamataian standards, but not litered with exaggerations or attempts to offend, as is common with Nepelsian bluntness. Also, said bluntness is often littered with bad puns.

Ever the curious one, even when curiosity killed the neko. Asks questions when questions shouldn’t be asked, like classified operations or why-are-we-doing-this kind of questions.

The kind who’ll pull pranks and tell off-color jokes (all in a tone that no one is sure if it’s serious or not) and has to be told to shut up instead of making awful puns during critical situations.

Born to a Nepelsian pediatrician and a Yamataian surgeon, the “why not be a doctor” affliction that befalls everyone who’s grown up with a Yamataian mom infected her at an early age. Always known as that weirdo who didn’t fit in with the real weirdoes, she made it through school, avoiding bully beatdowns by hiding in laboratories, working on her latest and greatest projects, and scaring/irritating fellow classmates by getting tattoos and piercings that went WAY beyond the norm.

A run-in with typical Funky City thugs left her with a newfound appreciation of guns - an appreciation that serves her well into her career with the IPG - and a slight suspicious of those she deemed “normal”

University was slightly more open-minded for the most part - most judgmental sorts kept themselves to frats or furious demeaning messages in group texts and obscure parts of the extranet - though she was expelled from a few left-leaning student groups after the IPG began recruiting in college and she - atypical of most IPG prospects - was quite vocal in joining.

Why’d she join? Well, when classmates tended to avoid you or pretend that a girl with a thousand piercings was sitting in their mist, it was a kind of invisibility that encouraged eavesdropping. A few suspected it, but for the most part, most kids - then high schoolers, then college classmates, then co-workers - never could figure out who the hell was reporting their nightly activities, theft, and scams to the deans and bosses….

According to her, her descent into genemodding herself into a stereotype began with her division at the IPG being infested with tinfoil hat types and conspiracy theorists who were either seemingly unaware that they were working for the IPG, or played up the usual IPG myths (alien cover-ups, mind-control, and million-year-old conspiracy theories) as a joke, all the while experimenting with genemods for field work or disguises.
