Build and Skin Colour: Hayate has an average build of muscle. He has Asian coloring.
Facial Features and Eye Color: Hayate has a sharp chin, and strong jaw with high cheekbones. His eyes suffered from heterochromia as a Geshrin, and he kept them that way even into his change to a Yamataian body and are green and gray (from left to right) respectively.
Hair Color and Style: Hayate's hair is brown, and cut short to be out of his eyes.
Distinguishing Features: The combination of his eyes and facial structure give Hayate a particularly feral look, causing him to be easily remembered.
Personality: Described in one word, Hayate is 'influential'. He is articulate, intelligent, and clever enough to get involved – and he can't not get involved – in everything around him. He wants to shape things and people to fit what he needs, and it doesn't always turn out quite the way he expected.
His influence is defined by natural talent for charm, and his driven ambition to succeed. He's never happy until he's taken the next step on the ladder to “Victory”, which is an ambiguous goal in and of itself, and so he takes the rank above him and makes it the next step, and doesn't plan to stop until he's dead. This ambition, however, makes him at times ruthless and unforgiving.

Hayate was born in YE 05, and lived much of his childhood moving between the various cities and towns of Yamatai. He lost his entire family in, YE 08, causing his frequent travels – he was an orphan. In the chaos of the Elysian Wars and the tragedies that ensued, he bounced from foster home to foster home, constantly running away or seeing himself move on to yet another family or set of adults. He grew, going through the motions of life until – finally – he came of age in YE 23, and joined the Star Army of Yamatai.
He spent the next couple of years in study to become an Officer, building his knowledge and reputation. By the time YE 29 rolled around and the Species Restriction Order was issued, he had already gained the rank of Chui. He switched to a Yamataian body, and continued his service.
By YE 31 he had gained the rank of Taii, and commanded one of the first Plumeria-Class Light Gunships, named the YSS Ghost. The Ghost was destroyed with The Nataria Depot in YE 31, and Hayate managed to save only part of his crew, firing escape pods and being picked up by a fleeing ship.
He joined the Second Expeditionary Fleet when it was formed.
