NOT YET APPROVED
|Organization||Star Army of Yamatai|
Build and Skin color: While not particularly tall, Isamu has the typical Yamataian build. Toned and muscled, though perhaps not as much as others, it is apparent that he takes relatively good care of himself. Looking at his hands you would think that he had never worked a day in his life, and you would be right save for his career in the Yamataian military. Reflecting this his skin is almost a pale white, though not extraordinarily so, and would tend to suggest that he has not received very much sunlight in recent years.
Facial Features and Eye color: Isamu's eyes are a solid dark brown, and in certain light can seem to almost blend with his pupils. His features are quite sharp, with a small nose and thin, piercing eyes. His chin is pointed, complementing the oval shape of his face, and he keeps a thin patch of hair from the bottom of his lip to the end of his chin.
Hair color and Style: His hair is straight, jet black with no other discernable features in the color. It is cut in a short militaristic style, but spiked up a bit in the front, usually with a few strands falling in front of his face.
Distinguishing Features: On his right temple he has tattooed a very small but noticeable “kanzen” kanji.
Isamu acts with an air of confidence in almost everything that he does. Still, he is well aware of his weaknesses and his mortality and capacity to fail; although the tattoo on his forehead seems to suggest otherwise, it's really more of an inside joke. He has a great zest for life and enjoys living in the moment, though he knows when it is time to buckle down and get serious. In a military setting, when it comes time to make a decision, there is very little contemplation and Isamu tends to go with the first idea that comes to mind under the mentality that whatever your gut feeling is, go for it. In normal day-to-day life this philosophy can get him into some tough and awkward situations, but typically he can talk his way out of almost anything or use his charm to get what he needs. Though not manipulative or deceptive (necessarily), he is a man who knows what he wants and does not like to take “no” for an answer. Naturally this ambition allowed him to rise up the ranks at a reasonable pace over the years, impressing almost every superior he had ever had.
Isamu was born during the Nepleslian reign of Yamatai in the latter portion of YE 02 as a Geshrin, since the Yamataian models had not yet been created. He lived the typical life of a civilian child up until the age of six when in YE08 the plague wiped out his family and almost everybody he knew, leaving him as an orphan. He wandered amongst the chaos alone for a while until, under the new regime of Ketsurui Uesureyu, he was taken into an orphanage along with other children who had lost their parents or guardians to the plague. For years he was tossed around into different foster homes, but none of them ever really seemed to stick, and he always felt lost and very much unloved no matter how hard his foster parents tried. He remained like this until his teenage years when his hormones began to kick in. While he never forgot the woe he felt after losing everything he loved, he buried the negative feelings away to the back of his mind, and focused on more secular subjects: women, sex, money, booze, adventure, and other things that young men typically concern themselves with.
At the age of sixteen, after ten years of being shipped around from home to home, he fled the care of one of his foster parents and set out to build a life of his own. However, he never really seemed to have much direction, and while he was able to hold a job and pay his own way, he did not live a very comfortable life. Isamu engaged in many relationships with many women over the course of two years, but never felt much for them and used them almost exclusively for sex. Frequently depressed, he made it a habit to drink in excess which would be the standard reason for his “romantic” relationships to fall apart. But after two years of the same pathetic existence, he decided it was time to turn his life around. With that, he made the decision to join the Star Army of Yamatai, the pride of the Empire.
After tying up loose ends in his civilian life, Isamu enlisted himself into basic training in YE 20. Unfortunately he was not physically or emotionally prepared for the harsh training a new enlisted soldier had to endure, and was frequently the subject of ridicule by both his superiors and his peers due to his inability to complete the arduous physical tasks set before him. He was deemed unfit to fight in the name of Yamatai, and after his training was complete he was shoved into menial tasks aboard patrol ships and placed almost exclusive on unexciting “junk missions” (as the enlisted referred to them as) until he proved himself worthy. That time would come in YE 23 during the Yamataian occupation of planet Ralfaris, where in a number of battles his quick thinking saved not only his own life but the lives of some of his comrades. Over the course of the engagement, he rose to the rank of Joto Heisho, the highest enlisted rank possible in the Yamataian military.
Almost immediately afterward he was shipped off to fight in the Fourth Elysian War. He fought with particular fervor in these battles due to his belief that it was the Elysians that caused his family to die, and because of this his true potential shined brighter than ever. For two years he fought bravely in the name of his homeland, being an instrumental part in many skirmishes over the years, and he was eventually awarded the rank of Warrant Officer First Class (Itto Juni) for his expertise and guts in battle. When the treaty was signed in YE 25, Isamu was disgusted at the outcome due to his abhoration of the Elysians, but he held his tongue and made no mention of it to his superiors, though his fellow warrant officers knew very well his feelings. In YE 26 he was once again shipped off to Ralfaris to quell an uprising of Qel'norans making ridiculous demands. Now returning as a high ranking warrant officer, he was allowed a small amount of decision making power over the enlisted troops as a means of testing his potential as a full-fledged officer. Though his contribution to the outcome was small, the Qel'norans were defeated and their planet destroyed, allowing Isamu the honor of being risen to the rank of Shoi Kohosei.
After a short time in the Kyoto War Academy, he was boosted to the rank of Shoi, giving him his first taste of real, complete power. Over the next several years he would battle constantly with the SMX forces threatening the Yamatai Star Empire and would be the pivotal force in many engagements. In YE 29, after climbing his way to the rank of Taii, he was killed in an SMX ambush, but crippled the fleet by which he was attacked dramatically before his own fleet was destroyed, allowing reinforcements to come in and finish off the remaining forces. After recovering his ship's Soul Savior pod, he would be resurrected in YE 30 and awarded the rank of Shosa after a review of his impressive military career.
Isamu is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Isamu is fluent in Nepleslian, and Yamataian. He can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc.
Isamu received hand-to-hand combat training, followed up with a rigorous training program. He is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons he is trained in include energy pistols, knives, power armor, grenades, and energy rifles.
Isamu is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.
Isamu received basic mathematics training, including up to algebra and trigonometry.
Isamu has extensive knowledge of almost the entire military history of Yamatai and is more than familiar with both military and civilian law. Due to his combat experience he is an expert in many types of strategies and formations.
Over the years Isamu has proven himself to be a smart and capable leader. Though somewhat impulsive, those who serve under him have learned to trust his instinct and follow his orders without a question. This aspect of his personality inspires those beneath him to trust in themselves and have confidence, which in turn has caused him to produce many reliable and capable officers over the years.
While not being the strongest soldier in the Yamatai Star Empire, Isamu more than makes up for his unimpressive physical abilities with masterful strategic command and emergency decision-making. His quick thinking has saved many lives and turned the course of many battles.
